i eat tuna almost every day and my mercury levels are not elevated at all.

I've tried albacore and I didn't like it as much, but now that I see the difference in brands, I realize might have just picked out a bad one. It's also generally more expensive. But I'll give it another go. Also, for those of you who ARE concerned with mercury, chunk light has the least.

My knee has the same story as yours! twice torn ACL, cadaver replacement, meniscus, all the works. I now have arthritis in that knee which is why it hurts when I run sometimes. I work on hazardous waste cleanup sites and regularly have my blood tested for mercury (among other things) as part of my job health and safety program. I eat 3-5 cans of tuna a week in addition to potential exposure from my job and my mercury levels are not elevated AT ALL.

Hey I think it's awesome you are doing this. I'll admit I didn't read the entire thread, but I did notice some naysayers in the bunch. I truly believe that if you train properly you will accomplish your goal!

oh yea and egg whites. you can make some really yummy breakfasts with egg whites and veggies in a scramble or omelette.

From a biological perspective, they are the fruit of the plant. the only reason we colloquially distinguish between fruit and vegetable is nutritional value. Edit to add fun fact: peanut shells are technically the fruit of the peanut plant
