  • Also! If you can't work out one day because you're just flat-out too busy (the other day I was at school from 6am to 7pm, and then at work from 7pm to 12am) don't beat yourself up. But also don't let long days turn into crappy eating days because you're tired and busy and you don't have time to cook! Even if you have to…
  • Ugh I hear you. This semester has been so busy, and although I haven't gained much back, I'm afraid I can feel myself slipping back into bad, lazy habits. But one thing that helps me is I take a 5 or 10 minute break from studying or homework, and just do a quick lap around the library, or do a few flights of stairs. It…
  • When I go on vacation, I also typically look at it as an opportunity to vacation from logging every single little thing I eat. I realize this might not work for some people, but if I go too long obsessively logging anything and everything I put in my mouth, I tend to develop some disordered eating patterns, and it gets a…
  • I usually weigh myself once or twice a week. I don't have a scale in my apartment, and frankly I don't want one. I'd like to think I'm not disturbed by fluctuations, but occasionally a higher weight can upset me, and sort of ruin my whole day. And if I had a scale here? Fuhgheddaboutit. I'd be on that thing multiple times…
  • Yesssss. It's so good! Plus, Oliver Queen is a beautiful beautiful human being. Especially without a shirt. And that whole tortured thing he's got going on? I hate that I love it.
  • I think I need to switch up my exercise routine a little, and confuse my body all over again. It's gotten too used to my regular exercise regimen!
  • Hooray, way to go you! That's fantastic. I have a pair of size 10s that I can now actually zip up- and they don't even have any stretchyness to them, which both my other 10s do. They aren't quite comfortable yet, but I'm getting there! My goal is to be wearing them with ease by Christmas.
  • I'm not there yet, but congratulations, that's fantastic!
  • I added you! I've been on the site since April, and have lost a little over 60lbs so far, with about 40lbs still to go. MFP has worked wonders for me, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Welcome, and you can do this!
  • Weight gain is not a side effect of propranolol. However, it will depress your cardiovascular system- lower your pulse and your blood pressure, so be careful when exercising. And if you do start taking it, don't stop taking it abruptly, as that can cause some pretty serious side effects. It can also cause weakness of…
  • Original start weight: 243 Current weight: 181.5 Christmas goal weight: 170 End goal weight: 140 Pounds to lose by Christmas: 24 (total) 08/01: 203.5 (ok, I didn't start this challenge at the beginning of August, but I'm putting my 8/1 weight anyway for comparison.) 8/28: 193.5 09/05: 192 10/03: 187.5 11/05: 181.5 12/05:…
  • Whenever there's unhealthy stuff at my work (which, unfortunately, happens more often than I'd like) I tell myself I'm allowed ONE small piece of something. You know- 1/2 a piece of pizza, a sliver of pie, etc. Or if I'm feeling particularly virtuous, I pop a piece of sugar-free gum instead. It makes my mouth taste like…
  • Plus, for some people, working out means gaining weight! Mostly, of course, I'm referring to people who are trying to bulk up muscle mass.
  • I'm 5'7" ish, and 188lbs. Depending on the brand (women's clothing sizes are dumb) I'm at a 10 or a 12 in pants/dresses (mostly 10s now, woo!) and an L in shirts and such. I started at 243lbs, and I was a (too tight) 16 or an 18, and an XL or XXL.
  • Initial start weight: 243 SW for when I joined this challenge 8/27: 196.5 9/5 weight: 192 10/5 weight: 187.5 Goal weight by 12/25: 170 End goal weight: 140 Pounds to go to Christmas: 17.5 Pounds lost so far: 55.5 Pounds to go before my ultimate goal: 47.5 I can do this!
  • My calorie goal is 1200, but I work out almost every day, and usually burn between 600 and 1000 calories every workout. If I wasn't eating some of those back, I think I'd collapse in a heap by the end of the week. I do try not to eat them all back though, to give myself some wiggle room. It's working so far!
  • Heck yeah dude. I am going to look awesome in a bikini next summer, I just know it. Power of positive thinking and all that jazz.
  • Not to hijack the OP's post here, but I could also use some friends. It seems like most of the ones I made when I first started this have kind of stopped being active on the site :( P.S. OP, I sent you a friend request!

  • I've been logging absolutely everything- even when I have a night out with my friends and drink wayyy too much. Even when I cave in at work and eat a spoonful of chocolate frosting (*cough*today*cough*) And I log my exercise, too! I also try to go to the gym 3 to 5 times a week. If I've got at least an hour, I usually do…
  • I have a bunch of Christmas NSVs, but here are my top three: 1. Have at least one person not recognize me at first because of my weight loss. 2. Consistently be fitting into a size 10. 3. Make at least one person uncomfortable when the ask me what my "secret to weight loss" is or how much weight I've lost by telling them…
  • NSV is "non scale victory."
  • All right, I just got in on this business, but I still think I have enough time to drop 20 by Christmas. I've already lost 49lbs, so this will be over 70 total for me. Original start weight: 243 Current weight: 194 Christmas goal weight: 170 End goal weight: 140 Pounds to lose by Christmas: 24 08/01: 203.5 (ok, I didn't…
  • Berries are where it's at! High fiber-to-sugar ratio, which means low net carbs. In terms of fruit, they're probably the best thing out there. Blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries are my go-tos. If you're really worried about your carb intake, try to eat food that have a higher fiber content, since those are carbs…
  • Totally normal! Like others have said, it just means you're losing your fat, and replacing it with muscle. If you continue on this path, you'll probably also lose some weight, but don't stress about it too much. Just make sure you're eating right and drinking lots of water, and you'll be golden.
