  • Fingers crossed about going riding tomorrow at the trails. I tried to ride my mustang the other day and he bucked me off something awful. Not typical for him at all, but he is still green. My back is starting to feel better so I'm trying again tomorrow if the weather permits. Lets hope for no repeats of the rodeo!
  • To me BMI is just a tool or guideline. It is not THE tool, just a tool, to use in our goals to find our healthy bodies. As with any tools, you need to use a good dose of common sense to use it correctly. I know with my body and build that I will be happy when I am at the higher end of the normal range of BMI. My friend on…
  • I lost 9 lbs the first 2 or so weeks so it was mostly water. But you know what? That was still 9 lbs that hasn't come back and I'm not lugging it around - so it was still all good. Weight loss has slowed down since. Personally I weigh daily. I'm now used to seeing the fluctuations and so it doesn't freak me out to see them…
  • We make homemade jerky all the time. Get whatever is on sale from the store that looks good, slice relatively thinly (you can play around with thickness and see what you prefer) and then marinade it in mixture of spices from home, and dehydrate. You really can use almost any spice that you like. We use a lot of garlic and…
  • So glad you were able to handle it yourself! It helps build more confidence in the future, doesn't it? I'm waiting for my upcoming rodeo. My mustang has just started saddle training this spring and there always comes that time when they feel the need to test and I'm just waiting for it.
  • You are right. It is a personal choice and nobody should be made to feel fun of or berated if they use a scale or not. Unfortunately that goes both ways. You say in your life you get made fun of for it, yet just read on this thread. Many of those that do measure are quick to call those that don't "lazy" and "not committed".
  • Pip - a rodeo is never fun when you aren't wanting one, but glad you got him listening. MissMissle - the link was just a pic of the trails were were on. Nothing big. Not sure how to post pics here. Luckypony - how great that must feel! I just started my boy Guinness this spring and its been amazing. My horse is also one of…
  • I figure tracking my calories by estimation is better than not tracking at all (which was where I was at previously). As long as my estimation is working, I'm happy and don't want to add more hassle to an already hectic life. I'm not out for fast weight loss, but gradual weight loss over long term while enjoying the good…
  • Many times I will log the previous night's calories the next day, but I make sure I log them. If I don't my evening calories can get out of hand quickly. But if I know I'm going to be putting them in at some point I am at least a little more conscientious about what passes through my lips. I have to hold myself accountable…
  • That was what I was wondering. My mother was diagnosed with diabetes a couple years back, but really put her mind to weight loss this year. Started watching what she ate closely and being more active. She has had a consistent weight loss the last couple months. The diabetes may adjust what she can safely eat due to the…
  • I also think that people who weigh daily get more used to the idea of fluctuation than those weighing only weekly or less frequently so are less likely to get discouraged.

  • I really don't know, but even a fit bit won't help figure this out because it doesn't track heart rate, just steps and stairs.
  • I weigh multiple times a day but only log it twice a week.
  • I've tried restricting out all the "bad" foods in my diet in the past and all it did was make me want them more and I would end up on a binge when I finally let myself have them. This time I'm looking at portion control. And making sure when I do have something tasty that I eat it slowly and savor every single bite. I'm…
  • I had a fitbit force and have mixed feelings. It was nice initially to see where I was at, but once I figured out what I needed to reach my goal, it really wasn't that helpful and nothing that a normal, MUCH CHEAPER, pedometer couldn't have told me. The sleep tracker at night wasn't all that useful other than a "oh, that…
  • I'm sorry - I'm a little late on this due to being out of town: SW:243 (I've lost over 30 lbs previously, but since I'm restarting all this I'm just going to use this as my SW) CW:243 GW:230 (Revised) Weigh in Dates: Start of Month (5/01 Thur): 238 5/03 Sat: ( Really 5/6): 236 5/10 Sat: 5/17 Sat: 5/24 Sat. End of Month…
  • Do you have a pic of his brand? He may be pure haffie - they being bred taller more often now. My very first horse was a haffie. What a mischief maker! As to geldings or mare - it really depends on the horse. In the past I typically had all geldings. Then last year we got our TB mare Piper - you couldn't ask for a more…
  • Looking at the OPs ticker - it says "0 lbs to go" so I would assume she has already lost the weight and needs toning up now? Might not get a 6 pck in that short of time, but I would think some focused exercising that was suggested earlier along with planking would give her some definition.
  • About the only jumping I do is if my horse launches himself across a ditch because he didn't want to get his feet wet. Silly beast. luckypony - Another mustang owner - how great! My boy is 14.2 and stocky and he handles my weight fine for our light hour or two rides on mostly easy trails, but I am hoping to get on longer…
  • I tried a 1200 calorie diet in the past and it just did not work for me. I felt like I was in a constant mental fog and never could have the energy to go out and do things. Now I'm on a 1500-1600 calorie diet with multiple small meals and feel much better all around. I feel like I can actually stick with this. But I assume…
  • Guinness is my horse's name and the year I was born.
  • Welcome to the group! I haven't figured out how to post photos either - so when you figure it out, share the secret. How brave of you to be jumping! Its something I have always longed to do, but have been too scared to ever try. My husband and I mostly trail ride and now starting to drive the minis/ponies.
  • I always carry water with me and it seems now that my current 20 oz glass has a straw I am drinking way more. Not sure what it is about straws?
  • Chicken quesadilla and/or soft shell taco if I go.
  • Thank you! Who is the horse in your avatar?
  • Hello everyone, Just wanted to give a quick introduction for my horses. Guinness - 5 year old smokey black mustang gelding from Nevada (my avatar). We just started trail riding this spring and he is doing wonderful so far. He's my dream horse. Apache - a 9 year old gray draft gelding that we had adopted as an orphan foal.…
  • Happily got my first friend request today, but then I read this thread - and yikes. Hope I don't find myself friendless after this weekend since I'm making a trip to visit my family and probably won't be online for a couple days. :frown:
  • This gave me a great afternoon laugh!
