  • Wow! What an inspiration! My wife is also on insulin and wants to get off and I am prediabetic and hoping to stay off insulin (Shellinut, you wrote my experience exactly). It is good to know that getting free of the medications is possible. Thank you for sharing your story.
  • My wedding. Yesterday. <3
  • Thank you. Today's struggle is trying to give away or dispose of the last of the 3 wedding cakes people brought to my impromptu wedding yesterday! There are definitely worse struggles to have :-)
  • My trans godson walked me down the aisle yesterday. Yesterday was my day. Today and beyond are his!

  • July 16, 2015 @ 7pm: Mama Gina in concert. I have no idea if she is LGBTQ or not. She is a pagan singer/songwriter. Tickets are only $10 in advance. • I didn't struggle so much today as I was simply fully present with multiple emotions...grief over a dying friend, anticipation of the SCOTUS decision, pride over my godson coming out as trans, frustration over trying to pay the bills, love for my partner, concern for one of my dogs with a torn acl...but recognizing and…
  • Excellent! Thanks

  • This is a good forum. There's really not much negativity on here. It's kind of funny that straight people don't know what to say. All the straight relationships I know of face the same challenges as ours, without the added stress of fighting to be legally recognized, adoption, healthcare POA, etc. We all struggle with…
  • I'm not from St. Louis, but I have a couple of friends in the area. I hear you have a great Pride festival there. One of my friends performs there. My main activity this time of year is gardening. Our season is short in Michigan, so I've got to dig in the dirt while I can.
  • Welcome. :D
in Um, hi? Comment by peacehawk May 2015
  • For me, the first time I went to the Michigsn Womyn's Music Festival transformed my perceptions of beauty. There were women of all shapes, sizes, ages, abilities and styles states of dress. I vividly remember a few different moments of perceptual transformation for me. The first one was while i was walking down the path…
  • Like you, I came out to my family and close friends before I had a relationship with a woman. I felt I needed to, to maintain a relationship with them (although I was convinced they would all reject me, I lost my best friend, but no one else). Just don't do the uhaul thing (joke: what does a lesbian bring on her second…
  • I listened to the whole thing with a few friends from church, and my partner (not yet wife). All of us were jumping out of our seats over the millenia thing. And, why the heck didn't the lawyer point out that Native American tribes (the first Americans-and some would argue the only true Americans) have had same sex unions,…

  • Hahahahahaha!
  • Flint, Michigan
  • I feel the same way. We could have gone to Canada or Mexico or Iowa or any number of other places to get married, but I really want it to be legal where I live. the Supreme Court hears oral arguments in the Michigan case and others on April 28th. I hope they will stand on the side of love and justice and the 14th amendment.
  • I am headed out the door now for my first water arobics class in a few years. This one is free, offered weekly at U of M Flint. I'm excited.
  • free concert! Ryan Amador in Flint on April 10 if you haven't heard Ryan sing, you should. He is great. Check out his music at: http://www.reverbnation.com/ryanamador He will be at The Good Beans Cafe on April 13th at 7pm. He will be taking donations to cover his expenses.
  • I have a bit of that fear myself, that people will assume once we can get married that we will be equal under the law. Except, here in Michigan they are currently working toward passing a so called "religious freedom act", which would allow anyone to refuse services to someone they objected to on religious or moral…
  • A piece of celey walks into a bar. A second one follows behind. The first one leaves the bar and goes into a cafe. The second one shows up there a short time later. What does the first piece of celery say to the second one? A: "Are you stalking me?"
  • Yay! Interesting thing is that both sides say they want SCOTUS to make a decision once and for all. I have been very skeptical of our chances there, up until the latest turns of events. More good news in Michigan: the 323 couples that got married on March 22, 2014 are now legal! My sister's marriage is now official. I hope…
