  • Your doing the right thing. High heat will throw off your calorie count because your heart rate is raised to cool your body, not to expell CO2. One thing you can try is to start the monitoring AFTER being out in the heat for 10-15 minutes if you will be doing an extended workout. This will alow your base heartrate to be…
  • People! The question is not SHOULD the exercise calories be eaten back, the OP understands that. The question is what calorie amount do you record in MFP when using a heart rate monitor. If you put on a HRM and just sit in a chair for 5 hours, it is going to say you burned 400-600 calories. Can you then record "sitting in…
  • Technically, you need to subtract, but it is only an issue if you are doing long duration low intensity workouts. MFP figures you will burn X number of calories an hour based on your lifestyle setting. Your HRM does not know that MFP already gave you calories for your base heartrate. So now if you workout for 3hrs and your…
  • Try tightening the chest strap. Too much water between your skin and the sensor contacts can cause problems.
  • It's the next model up, but I swim with my ft7 all the time. No problems, just remember that they warn you not to press buttons under water. I have forgotten a few times and it hasn't blown out on me yet. The housings are most likely the same.
  • Every 10lbs MFP will ask if you want to re-calculate your goals.
  • Oh Aunt Flo, she is so unappreciated. She stops by early and you are mad, she stays too long and you are mad, you can't stand her, you wish she would just go away. AND YET!!! When she doesn't show up on time, you miss her so and pray that she is ok and comes soon. When she finally shows up you welcome her with tears of joy…
  • That is a "can of worms" you don't want to open. It works for some and doesn't for others. Opinions are strong on both sides. Concentrate more on eating healthy.
  • Polar seems popular. I have an FT7 that works great.
  • Self image can change from day to day. Some days I feel and look normal in the mirror. Then other days I just see flaws. Just concentrate on how much BETTER you look and feel, not just on how you look. I hope that makes sense to you. You have come a long way. You get smaller faster as you get closer to your target weight.…
  • It's a bit confusing. Strength training is for tracking the exercise you do. Not for recording calories burned. To get calorie credit for the workout you need to log it ALSO under cardio as "weight training".
  • Well it was a tough week. A cookout on Sunday pushed me up to 214lbs but I went nuts on the cardio and managed to bring the weight back down and pull a 2lb loss out of it. 8LBS TO GO!!!
  • If yu have to force yourself to drink, then you are drinking too much. Your body knows what it needs and will let you know when you need it. Drink when you are thirsty, it is as simple as that. People swarm on these "studies" much like fishermen swarm a spot on a lake where someone catches a trophy fish. It's the curse of…
  • I work similar hours. For starters I try not to eat late at night, even if it is the middle of MY day. The digestive system still slows down at night. As for counting calories. My day starts when I get up and ends when I go to sleep. No matter when that is.
  • You look terriffic in that dress. Not only did you lose pounds, you lost years. You look at least 10 years younger. Way to go!!!
  • Great story, and good for you and your kids! Unfortunately you reminded me of one of my most embarrasing HEAVY moments. The day my kids convinced me to go on the ferris wheel at one of those small carnivals. Yep, I broke it and we were stuck on it for what seemed like forever till someone could reset the electrical…
  • Your daily calorie alotment will be less. It goes down as you lose weight.
  • Thanks all, These last 10lbs have DEEP roots. I haven't been this light in 24 years. I am happy where I am, but I would love to start my weight with "one hundred" at least for a little while. Hopefully for a long while.
  • For me the scale is a confirmation of what I did the previous day. I get to see if my plans worked or failed. If my weight is down, I eat my calorie limit. If it is up, I eat less and workout more. If it is steady, I eat the same and workout more. This isn't a rule. it is just what I tend to do.
  • Fast food burger places. I gained a lot of my weight pigging out at McDonalds and now I wont go in one unless there is no other option. I can even sit with family in one and not eat.
  • The resposes sound a little confusing if you are new, or don't use the strength training feature (like me). It sounds to me like you need to log your work in BOTH locations. Record the sets, reps, etc. under strength training and ALSO record the time spent training under cardio to get your calorie consumption for the…
  • Good words to live by. You have a GREAT weekend too!
  • I ignored gall stones for three months and finally went to the doctor when I noticed just what you are describing. I could feel the difference . After having the GB removed I still had the imbalance until just recently (4months after). It could be from you favoring your right side when exercising.
  • Great feeling! Way to go.

  • For someone your size I would say it is a little extreme. It is hard on your kidneys which have to remove all of that extra water from your system. Along with all of that extra water are vital electrolytes being flushed out needlessly. Look up hyponatremia. Is there a reason that you are drinking that much water?
  • As long as you take it easy, it is all good for you. Just ramp up slowly so your body can change. Your heart and lungs use muscles that need to tone up. Your joints and tendons, etc, need time to toughen up. 200lbs is a lot of extra weight to workout with and that is basically what you are doing. I started at 360lbs and…
  • Sorry, I don't swing that way! :noway:
  • Give your metabolism a shake. As you mentioned increase your exercise. If you eat back your exercise cals try not eating them a few days and then return to normal. On the flip side if you keep your calories low, then go A LITTLE crazy for a day with the calories and then increase the exercise. The shakeup usually works for…
  • I wish I could figure out how to post a picture of my weight progress graph for 90 days. It looks just like a staircase. The weight will drop several pounds and then stay there for a week or two. I weigh daily but don't log the little increases so that is why the lines are flat. When it does drop though I log each drop and…
  • I am going to go against the group here. You definatelty need to eat several well balanced meals a day but calories are not the priority. Your baby needs vitamins and minerals that your body does not store. You have stores of fat but not a lot of vitamins. If you are eating the recommended amount of all of the food groups…
