  • I think groups are good and trainers tell us that they help people most. We have a fitness academy in town that is pretty cool but is very expensive.
  • I use hand held bottles or I make treks around places that have water or stash it in bushes. Main thing go to a store that sells them, try them on. Walk around the store with them on. You look like an idiot, but hey you are spending money on yourself. Who cares what you look like...you look better than some dude on this…
  • I do not have a race embarrassment unless it is getting beat by the pregnant lady last week. That is hurting the pride. Long run embarrassment quite a few. Along a route we took, when I had to go I would look for port a potties in front of houses because most of the time the workers are fairly clean. Well I hit one site…
  • feel free to add me. Working on losing a few pounds to improve life and my running.
  • Done 11 mary's and don't even know how many halves...16 miles will make one miserable marathon day. My best marathons have been those times when I ran a 22 miller before. Mentally, that helps because it is only four miles more. "Which one of us can't run four miles any day," was my thinking after that, false thinking but…
  • Great Ashleigh. I am recovering from an injury and am finding the treadmill is a lot softer than a road. Treadmills are not bad. Keep running and keep us posted on that half.
  • Diet Soda has a lot of sodium in it, so it creates some water retention. That is water weight.
  • During High School, we ate off campus every day. Most days were Fried Burritos, a Coke, and french fries or a Cheeseburger instead of the burritos. Every freaking day and then I would go to football workouts in the afternoon. I amazed my body was able to do that. But, interestingly when i was a kid and working at grocery…
  • I was on here six months ago, then life got hectic, running injury, vacations, and then got out of the habit. I understand, kids and work can make it easy to grab quick energy for me. So, keep on it and do it for yourself. I forget how good I feel when I eat better and add a little exercisee.
  • feel free to add me
  • welcome back. I am prodigal coming back as well. It sucks to restart, but it sucks to keep doing stupid things as well.
  • My name is guido and i have been running for about 10 years. 10 Marathons Kept myself fairly fit, still in the Clydesdale division. This past year, I got an injury, Plantar Fascitis from not stretching for a period of two or three years. I quit running for a few months and have started up again. I put on 15 pounds in that…
  • Hey Strawberry... grew up in Monahans, so I am down with the Permian Basin. Write it down and be honest with yourself. Honesty is the best part and realize it is going to get uncomfortable. Howevever, as you work your program you are getting to choose the discomfort not having the discomfort come your way. Find folks who…

  • Garmins can be expensive. I think the 305 (w/hrm) can be had for under 150. I am using a 205 (w/o hrm) and I love it. I am not certain I would want to train without one. If you don't want to get hooked, don't buy one.
  • Glad you are here.
  • Good for you. YOu are taking care of yourself. What they think does not matter, so Fusili them.

  • I have it too. I wear my shoes all day and it does not act up too much. Also, need to have shoes that have support. Flips Flops...suck. Lose weight, that helps. I went to get a generic orthotic about 30 bucks to put in my shoes and it helps out tremendously. Also, if I exercise in shoes that break down then I need to get…
  • I have done a five mile mud run and I was looking at the one in Nor Cal....not sure I want to run at that elevation. Looks tough.
  • A good place to start the sorting. Others of us are in process as well.
  • I have 2 grapevines in my backyard. There is no way for me to eat all of the grapes off of my vines. For me to preserve the fruit, I have to make raisins which is easy. Put out a butcher paper and lay the grapes on the ground like they do it in the fields.
  • My nutritionist said for my blood type (this is a bit of voodoo to me) said give up break. I am working on that, I ate lettuce for sandwich bread. I was extremely hungry after that, so I am working on that process. I drank 3 diet cokes a day, sometimes more. four weeks ago, I gave it up. I will drink one or two a week. In…
  • In the morning, it is an old one. Des'ree "you gotta be" sort of just moves out into the day at the beginning of a run when the body does not want to go. Robert Earl Keen's-"Road Goes On Forever" Van Halen's "Right Here, Right Now" Tom Petty-"Running down a dream" Eddie Vedder-"Hard Sun" For me, I run 12 miles+ sometimes.…

  • kicking yourself is only useful if it uses calories. My kicking myself leads to me adding calories and feeling bad. I joined in with my family for frozen yogurt this weekend, had a hamburger, and breakfast burritio...terrible Saturday. Not everyday I do this will be perfect. I want to string more good days together than…
