  • I use a Polar heart rate monitor when I exercise which are more accurate than the gym machines. I generally try to leave about 500 calories extra on work out days and none work out days I generally eat most of my alloted calories. Been working so far :)
  • Love Planet Fitness. Iam 45 years old and use the machines to lift weights, treadmill to run and the elliptical. If you want to lift heavy free weights then it is not the gym for you. Iam not into that lifting anymore. Not sure what the negativity about it is, my Planet Fitness Gym in Abingdon Md is top notch, clean, and…
  • I have had a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor for about a year now and workout at club using it. Its more accurate than the heart rate monitors on the machines and I have lost 43 pounds since may using it along with the food diary here so it is working for me
  • I just recently started alternating running and walking at different intervals on the treadmill at my club for 25 mins as part of my workout. I'am 268 and lost 36 pounds since May doing MFP and working out about 4 times a week. I start the treadmill at 3.0 and increase it to 3.5 each for a minute. Then I jog at 4.5, 5.0,…
  • I have a meal or time once a week that I dont count my calories. I have been active on MFP for about 4 mos now and have lost 32lbs so far. I feel treating myself for a meal once a week is great and hasn't hurt my weight loss. To each their own but it has worked for me. Also love working out because I get to eat more lol. I…
  • Its funny was thinking about this very subject this morning. I have lost 16 lbs so far since starting with MFP in late May. I workout about 4-5 times a week elliptical and some weight lifting. Since doing this I feel great but mentioned to my wife that few people have commented on my weight loss. I gained a pound when I…
  • I agree LSin Va: I love my Polar FT4 heart monitor. I wear it any time I go to the club or mow my grass. It is easy to set up and was told by a trainer that it is more accurate than the heart monitors on the machines in the gym. I think I can say that it also saved my life when I noticed my heart rate would raise after…
  • Jescamp: Iam impressed with the time alottment lol :)
  • Oh cora: This may not help with your question but I have also found when logging exercise through MFP that the calories that are registered through the program for a given amount of time are alot. I wear a Polar FT4 heart monitor when I work out and when I mow the lawn, was told that is the most accurate way of finding…
  • Think the steroids have effected your brain lol
  • The most important thing is to know that the next day is a new day. I was delfated myself today when I weighed myself and I didnt lose any weight, didnt gain either which was good, but still a bit of a downer. I have been working with MFP for 6 weeks now and have lost 14lbs. I keep telling myself that this a lifestyle…
  • Think you are a bit judgemental on your post. I do understand what you are saying that your health is most important in order to deal with aspects of your life (family, work, friends, etc). But circumstances do come up that can get in the way of working out that you can not help, even being accountable for your health. I…
  • Ive had a Polar HRM for about 2 yrs and use the watch as my actual watch also. I just replaced the battery at a jewelry store with no problem and its running just fine. Love my polar HRM, highly recommend it
  • Phill: I have found in the past that if Iam trying to lose weight and watch my calories I did find with a cheat day I still lost weight as long as the other 6 days of the week I followed my good eating habits. Iam no health expert but I believe you should treat yourself a little and I used that one day of the week to do…

  • Thats the biggest struggle with me any time I have tried to eat better is not to snack in middle of night. For some reason I am fine during the day but at night I get hungry and give in to my cravings. Have to find the will power to not snack. Love to have someone or several to be able to communicate going through this…
