  • Sorry but I have to agree with most of everyone else. Its very unrealistic to think that you can monopolize different areas of a gym for 45 mins to complete your circuit. If I saw someone leave a station for 10 mins I would surmise that they were done with the rack and just didn't re-rack their weights. I would do it for…
  • For whats its worth, Scoobysworkshop.com accurate calorie counter has you with your current 5-6 days of week of strenuous exercise at 2175 calories. Your BMR is 1261 (Calories needed for proper bodily function if you were basically a couch potato) That would be body re-comp (gain muscle/lose fat) If you want to lose fat at…
  • OK Sidesteel, I am interested in picking your brain about nutrition, I have been following the IIFYM diet plan for a while now. I was from the old school thinking of low fat VERY high protein and moderate to low carbs. I competed and had some success but always felt I could have looked better. Now that I am 40 its much…
  • MFP just reset me without me actually missing a day! I know I didn't miss a day because I log my macros everyday either on my comp or on my phone....frustrating because one of my goals was to log in and track my calories and macros for a year!:explode:
  • Thanks for all the input guys! I did not start with the bar but did start lower than 50% mainly because I have a training partner (co-worker) who wanted to do it too and he is not as strong as me. So anyway we basically sped up the progress by adding 10 lbs per session on Squats, Bench, and Rows and stayed with 5 lbs on…
  • He has some good advice in the e-mails, but what is starting to bother me besides the bad advice about bouncing is the constant "sales" pitch for his "inner circle" 20 bucks a month for just access is pretty steep, that a real gym membership.
  • Can always use more lifting friends :)
  • I am pretty active have been religiously using the food calculator for over a month now, feel free to add me.
  • Thanks for the replies. Liftbig seems to be the app as close to the SL 5X5 method. Like winf says it has the deloads and also switches to 3X5. I think I'm going to go with that one. Thanks again.

  • Sea is correct in saying calories in vs. calories out, there are people on this site that followed a macro-nutrient diet and ate ice cream and pop tarts everyday and still lost weight and look like fitness models. But it is much healthier for your body to eat good, whole, natural foods for the vitamins and minerals they…
  • Yes, true but if a white potato has a 98, and table sugar (which will spike your levels BTW) has a 84... wouldn't is be safe to surmise that eating JUST a white potato with nothing to counteract the GI levels like a protein or fat would indeed spike your level?. Most of the diabetics I know avoid white rice and white…
  • OK I didn't want to get all nerdy on everyone but ..taken from How stuff works: Fat Storage In the last section, we learned how fat in the body is broken down and rebuilt into chylomicrons, which enter the bloodstream by way of the lymphatic system. Chylomicrons do not last long in the bloodstream -- only about eight…
  • OK, To add to this debate. After doing some research, A white baked potato has a Glycemic Index (GI) number of 98. While a Sweet Potato has a GI# of 44. To put things into perspective, sucrose (table sugar) has a GI# of 84. So if you want a fast insulin dump (in which excess is stored as fat) then eat all the "taters" you…
  • Feel free to add me to your support group. I try and log everyday. I am also 6'-6' 1" and about 235-40 lbs ATM...So our calorie intake should look similar.
  • I use the app on my phone, it has a bar-code scanner on it which makes it easier to track things. But you have to watch it because sometimes it will give you the wrong calorie content or macro percentages!
  • I am, in corrections..
