  • Log faithfully; drink plenty of water, and begin walking, gradually lengthening the distance as you get more fit. And I'm about 60 lbs. down from a year ago. 5' 1" was 218 when I started (a few lbs. lost before discovering MFP) and I am now about 157!
  • As someone who is on 1200 a day before exercise is added in, I can't imagine 800! It's hard enough to meet my macros on 1200-1500 a day! I exercise just to have enough calories available to meet my nutrient levels. I'm 5 ft. 1, and I started at 218. I've lost just fine on the amounts MFP has given me. And I'm hypothyroid,…
  • You know, would it be possible to pre-plan and then pre-log your meals for each day? You would be able to better aim for your standard deficit, but then if you feel you need a snack or whatever later, 250 calories would be sufficient, and you'd still be at maintenance. At least this way your meals are pre-planned, which I…
  • LOL!! They DO taste like dirt! =) I occasionally eat them in salads (you know, with other things that grew OUT of the dirt). =)
  • Last two workouts used with heart rate monitor did not sync. Steps were credited, and the heart rate monitor showed me my HR the entire workout, but when I synced to Garmin Connect, the HR info didn't show up. It's happened twice now in the last two days. Anyone else having issues? Annoying!
  • I find that the Garmin calorie count and MFP's are always off. Garmin consistently says that I have more calories I can eat, and MFP says fewer. I do have negative calorie counting turned on. I have no idea why these numbers will be different if I have them set to sync with one another......
  • on this topic, I find I'm consistently low on potassium. Other than decaf coffee, what are other good sources of potassium?
  • I LOVE my crockpot!!!! I also love my steamer. =) Both make healthy meal prep a cinch. AND I've learned how to make my own yogurt using the crockpot -- so much cheaper, yummy, and then I control what is in it (i.e. no sugar)
  • having same problem, don't know who to believe, so I've been going with the lower of the two, which is consistently MFP, so I don't overconsume calories. But would really like to know why these numbers are so far off sometimes!
  • I would add to the already good advice given that, if you are nursing especially, you make sure to pay close attention to your calorie intake and your milk supply. Too low calories and your milk supply will drop (at least it did with me). Also, your body is still healing from the pregnancy and delivery and adjusting to new…
  • Hilarious! I'm an omnivore (gimme a good steak anytime, medium-rare, please). But I love a wide variety of veggies and fruits, too. My husband -- he's a meatatarian! He only eats veggies because I serve them to keep his arteries from clogging!
  • I never run in the dark alone. I have some running buddies! =) Makes the miles pass more quickly, too.
  • Thank you all for the replies! Thanks for the tip about spreading the calories out over the week. I have started to find it harder to keep to the 1300 on rest days because I have noticed that I am much hungrier on those days since beginning to really increase my running duration and intensity.
  • MFP says I should eat 1300 per day, net (I'm 5'1", 180, going for 125-130). I stick to that on most days. I do eat back part of my exercise calories, but I often have 300-500 left on run days because I'm not hungry enough to eat them. I've lost almost 40 lbs. since May 2014, some of those before joining MFP.
  • I actually love being the baker -- after I get done smelling all of the sugary treats baking, and taste-testing, I'm done, and don't want to eat as much of the finished product because I'm already sick of it. I've found on years I DON'T do the baking, I'm way more likely to overindulge on the sweets.
  • You have value; we all have value because God created us and He loves us.
  • I am hypothyroid as well, and have been on medication (Levothyroxine) for the past three years. They started me on a low dose: 25mcg, which brought me down to "normal" levels. It helped, but I still had symptoms. I asked my Dr. if I could try increasing my dosage to 50mcg in case my body functioned better with a lower…
  • I personally have known four people who have had them done. One is my Mother-in-Law, and another one is my best friend. The other two I know through our church. My BF has gained all but about 50 lbs of what she had lost originally after her surgery. And my MiL, while being lighter than she was, still struggles with weight…
