I'm currently using 22.5 lbs dumbbells for bicep curls and my mini goal is to move up to 25 lbs ; )

Hey! I am 51 years old and have lost 40 lbs over a period of 12 months. I started changing my lifestyle when I was 49. I was at my lowest point in life, feeling like crap, and one morning I woke up and I realized if I don't get serious with my health/weight NOW, it's just going to go downhill from here on. The way I see it…

This is one hot body you're having now! Congratulations ;-)

I've tried protein powder in oatmeal too and didn't like it, so what I do now is eat my oatmeal first, and then have a scoop of protein powder mixed with 1/2 c almond milk and 1/2 c water. I mean, it doesn't really matter how you get it in your body, right?! I have tried many different protein powders. Whey to me tastes…

Thanks, FoxyLifter, for your input. Now that you mentioned it, it could be the water intake. Although I am usually very good with my water, now that you mentioned it, I'm thinking that I haven't been drinking my usual amount over the last little while...

Whenever you're stuck in a plateau, you have to change things up. I did quite a bit of research on this topic because it happened to me too several times. You either have to change your diet (doesn't mean lower the calories, could be altering your macros, eating more calories for 1-2 weeks then go back to 1200 cal.. etc)…

The only way to make your coffee taste better is high quality coffee beans. I use "Kicking Horse", but there are many good brands. So no Folgers, Maxwell etc. I love my coffee that much that I am willing to "sacrifice" the 40 cal.of 2 tbsp of half and half (I have tried lots of other things, but nothing comes even close).

Same thing happens to me when I am invited at my neighbor's place. We have known each other for 12 years now, and I've been telling them since the beginning that I am not into alcohol because I just don't like it. And yet, every time I go over there they try to force it on me, and every time I say no thank you. You can…

No, I have not, but once I watched a guy running on it and his pants fell off ;-)

I am amazed how quickly people judge and seem to have the answer without even knowing the full story. There's lots of bad advice here.

Here's the ultimate "weight lifter" song for you : "Time to Win" by Down with Webster. If you like this song, then also check out "Whoa is me", "Go Time", "Staring at the Sun", and "White Flags" from same band. Enjoy ;-)

Of course I see a difference, all over your body, your legs and butt got smaller, back and stomach too ;-) Keep it up!

One of my favourite high protein vegan foods is seitan. In the health food store, it's pretty expensive, but you can make it yourself and save a lot of money. There's a recipe for it in the cookbook "Isa does it" by Isa Chandra Moskowitz but I'm sure you can find a recipe on the internet too. It takes a bit of practice to…

Healthiest food of all: green leafy vegetables! For convenience, buy some organic, boxed pre-washed baby spinach, or baby kale, or a mix of baby spinach, baby kale and baby swiss chard. Superstore has them. Eat raw (in smoothies or salads).

I am happy for you ;-)

Your body needs the nutrients to feel satisfied. That's why when you eat crap your body is still starving for the nutrients it doesn't get. I started to include a ton of vegetable into my diet and I eat them until I am stuffed. It works. I also make one or two "green protein smoothies" every day that include the following:…

Same thing happened to me not long ago. I was so good dieting and working out, and then I got a horrible cold, and I was miserable and wondering how to continue with my exercise once this cold is over because i was so weak that I couldn't even imagine being able to lift a 5 lb dumbbell anymore). I was surprised that after…

First of all, good for you that you made the decision to change to a healthier lifestyle! As far as nutrition goes, you have to educate yourself, the more you read, the more you know! Take babysteps so you don't get overwhelmed. If you want to make a huge improvement in your diet, get yourself a good blender and start…

Hey brewinggirl_b, another great tip, thanks! I've heard about dry brushing before when I researched the macrobiotic diet. I am very motivated to get rid of these nasty wrinkles, so I'll give it a try. I guess the key is consistency?!

Congratulations on your weight loss, and thanks for sharing, I am sure it will inspire others. Hey, I don't know how to post pics either ;-)
