Ok. Right now I'm looking at 2 days a week as a floor to try to stop the losses. I'm nearly 60 so I have to be careful to allow adequate recovery time between sessions. Also if I start with 2 I'm more likely to stick with it than if I jump directly to 4--I might burn out.

So it sounds like even with a dialed in, ideal program it would take me about 2 years to regain the muscle mass lost in 3 years of dieting. So a more reasonable goal would be to stop further losses and aim for an endpoint weight of 135-140 instead of 160 lbs. This would put both BMI and % fat into the normal ranges. Niner…

Ok, measurement issues aside, if I start weight training twice a week, how long should I expect before seeing a change in tone or on the scale? I am going to guess that even in the absence of scale-panic, adding weight training is a good idea. I think my measurements may be more consistent than most because I drink the…

This was measured by impedance on a Withings scale that estimates body water, body fat, and bone weight. Weight today 178 lbs, fat mass 69.5 lbs (39%). (lean mass 108.5) Initial weight was 264 lbs and fat mass was 132 lbs (50%). So that's 62.5 lbs of fat lost, but only an 11% change in fat % (because of the drop in total…

I'm a bit skeptical about the improvement being entirely due to the exercise this quickly. Are you taking the BP medication? The change in heart parameters might be the result of the medication, so if you have been taking it, don't stop. (Even so, you may not need it later as your health improves via exercise and diet. No…

Some perhaps-unneeded suggestions: Check your body composition. Some scales that do conductivity measurements to give heart rate will also give you fat % and BMI estimations. The apple health app will calculate your BMI from your weight and height. Most gyms offer a body composition measurement service (sometimes visiting…

CONGRATS! I too got to onderland this year, after losing about 70 lbs over the past 18 months. But I haven't weighed this little in about 9 years. (ok, I lost 60-odd lbs to get to onderland but am in the low 70's lost now)

I have lost 75 lbs in the past 18 months or so, after years of what you describe (though my excess weight was higher and I still have 30 lbs to lose). The things that worked for me were nothing gimmicky. The biggest tactic? Patience. I found I could never stick to my diet because I was too aggressive with my goals. I'd go…

I got Moderna shot 1 (so far). I have not noticed any weight changes that cannot be accounted for by other factors. But everyone's body is different. Day of the vaccine I got tired in the afternoon and went to bed early. Following day I felt okay except for arm pain as if punched in the arm the day before (similar to when…

Try reading stuff you find here using keywords "diet" and "whoosh" in the same search (may need spelling variants)

Oh shut it....(snark from a 57 y.o with health issues that kept me from being able to even walk for over 2 years)

FIt into a Prana XL size top.

I have lost almost 60 lbs total (bouncing 59-60 this past week) with walking as my primary exercise (I have an issue with tendon injuries that makes me reluctant to attempt weight training). I started around 260 and am down to 198 today, but that loss is over a period from a year ago August, with a couple of deliberate…

Good news: lowest weight since 2014 Bad news: #%$^@$# US coup attempt.

I wish I had had a reliable measurement device for my actual calorie expenditures (I now have an apple watch).

I wanted to get to Onderland by the end of 2020, but I''ve been stalled at 200.0 lbs-200.5 lbs for several days. Hoping to get there by the time Biden is sworn in.

Wow!

Have lost 54 lbs. Would be nice to change that to a nice round 55 lbs. This is roughly my half-way point, but I can't be sure because as I get closer to target I plan to go by fat percent rather than weight and for this reason I don't really know my ultimate target except it's in the 140-150 lb range (5'8" female with 7…

Most recipes as-published or as-posted contain about 1/2 to 1/3 more sugar than they need. I find I can usually cut the quantity to 2/3 or 1/2 of the recipe specification without impacting the taste.

Holy moly! Also encouraging--the lack of saggy skin (which is one of my big fears against losing quickly). You look great!

Old Navy has low prices and decent selection. Low prices means that their sizing is a bit inconsistent and sometimes there are other signs of sloppy construction (off-center pattern etc), but if you are looking for something inexpensive to keep you clothed and warm at a weight you hope to leave soon, it's a good option.…

Oatmeal for breakfast (made with milk for protein value), raspberries, blackberries, and canteloup on the side. Store brand clam chowder for lunch, shortbread cookies and raspberries as a treat. A stroll of a little over a mile, with an activity monitor. Slightly under on breakfast calories, slightly over on lunch…

Also as tIme4coffee said--WEIGH EVERYTHING. Accuracy does wonders.

Your calorie target is based on what you reported as your activity level. It is an approximation that will work for most people. If you have technology to measure your actual activity level you can set it up to report to MFP and that will help you narrow down your calorie target window.
