I initially lost weight on my MFP maintenance calories as well. I gradually raised them until I was no longer losing. For me that meant about 1600 calories a day. Takes some time and some trial & error, but you'll find the calorie number that works for you.

Never stop logging is my strategy. Maintenance for 3 years. Keeps me aware and honest

Once a week works for me. More often makes me too hyper-focused in the scale and less often is not engaging enough to keep me true to my goals.

Thanks Lokihen! Great suggestion!

I've been in maintenance mode for nearly 3 years. My method - LOGGING, LOGGING, LOGGING! And weighing in weekly... There are ups and downs - key is to keep honest and keep logging. Jean

My Goal Weight Range is 128-132. For past few months I've been weighing in between 130-134. Tho I in my mind I think of myself in maintenance, I acknowledge that I need to lose those pounds and have lowered my daily calories to compensate and try to get back into range. Daily Calories vary. For instance, when I was…

Well, as a follow up to this thread, I ended up in a boot/aircast for over 6 months due to Achilles and not cleared for exercise/walking yet. On top of it major stress in my life and caregiving to sister who needed surgery has got me not making best nutritional choices (Trying, but still giving in to those foods that bring…

You have very similar height/weight/maintenance numbers as me... Try not to get too worked up. Our weight fluctuates for many reasons. Having a realistic maintenance range can help. Mine is 128-132.

Yes. I try to log everything. Sometimes need to guesstimate based on MFP database.

I just go back to regular earing the next day. Sometimes try to add more exercise as well.

Thanks for all the great responses - very helpful!

Yes, the urge to eat more is hitting me, too. I have been making pots of vegetable soup, lentil soup, and trying to keep cravings in check. Have gone over calories a few times in past week and am trying to reign it back in... Regardless though, I log everything - every meal, snack, etc. Never give up! Logging helps us stay…

So originally I set my goal weight at 130 with a range of 128-132 in my mind. I got to 130 in Sept 2014 and over the following few months figured out my best daily maintenance calorie intake to be around 1600. In spite of that, I ended up dropping more weight hitting low of 123 - not a good weight, too low. I stayed in the…

Congratulations and thanks for the great tips! Coming up on 2 years maintenance and still log everything, even when I'm way over daily calories. Keeps me aware and honest :)

Coming up on 2 years in maintenance and track every day. Intend to continue indefinitely. Keeps me aware and honest ;)

Congrats on getting to maintenance :) I gradually upped my calories to about 1600 to maintain. Suggested maintenance was about 1500, but I kept losing so gradually added daily calories until I found my right daily maintenance goal. Took sbout 2-3 months. Meanwhile, I'm more like RunRutheeRun - no problem switching to…

My biggest struggle was figuring out how many daily calories to have during maintenance. MFP recommendation was too low and I kept losing. After adding about 100 calories a day, I found the right balance :-) Now I'm maintaining at around 1600 cals/day... I still log every day which keeps me aware and honest about my intake…

Thanks everyone for sharing your changes and stories. Very helpful! Ruthee, Thanks for the plank suggestions. Will give it a try :) Hugs, Jean

My ribs have always been pretty visble regardless of weight. I seem to have a big rib cage is all - maybe that's why I've always had such a strong singing voice?

This will be my second holiday season in Maintenance. For Thanksgiving I made the mashed potatoes, veggies, gravy and pumpkin pies. I pre-planned my dinner & dessert menu and ate lighter earlier in the day. This way I got to eat all my favs and still remain within Maintenance :) I did the same for Christmas Day.

Congrats on reaching Maintenance :) Over this past year in Maintenance, I added calories until I stopped losing - for me 1600 works great! Like you, I continued losing a few pounds. I started Maintenance at 130 with idea of 128-132 as my Maintenance range. But 13.5months into Maintenance I am now bouncing around in a range…

I eat back calories from exercise during maintenance. Otherwise, I'd keep losing ;)

Wow! Thank you all for sharing your maintenance adjusted weight stories - really appreciate all the comments! :) Ruthee, I'm truly looking forward to enjoying the benefits of Yoga and just simply feel peaceful doing the stretches, etc. For those doing core strengthening, how are you doing it? (I can't do lifting due to…

My sister calls me 'Annie' short for anorexic and I find it terribly offensive and have told her as much. She says its a compliment because she wishes she was slimmer. Okay, but it's a serious illness and shouldn't be joked about. All I did was work consistently at dropping the extra 20 lbs that piled on over 2 years of…

Thanks for all your replies! I adjusted my weight down once I got to original GW. It seemed so mpossible to reach when I first set the goal! Thanks to all of you at MFP, I've been able to consisteny log in daily and get feedback, input, and advice whenever I hit rough patches :) My new goals include working in yoga and…

I walked daily during weight loss phase Summer 2014 and it was very helpful and enjoyable, too. Have been in maintenance since Sept 2014 and walk far less often now, though am active with gardening, caring for elderly parents, caring for 2 households, etc. I would like to get back to more regular walking, yoga, and begin…

Seems many of us end up lowering our GW once we achieve original goal...

I typically eat back my exercise calories. I've been maintaining for 1 year and so far so good :)

Neil, Great going with the weight loss and recivery from heart attack! Stay healthy my friend! :) Jean

I log everything! It's the only way I can have an accurate view of what's going on with my weight. Eat too much? Yep, will gain weight. Stay on track with daily cals? Yep, will maintain... Eat at a deficit? Yep, will lose... It's just cause and effect and it's important to be honest about it to stay on track with goals :)…
