  • My wife and I just upgraded to the Fitbit Charge HR because they became too big! Good problem to have! We have both lost 30-40 lbs each since November last year and the tracker combined with MFP has been great to keep us moving towards our goals. The Charge HR is much more accurate than the Charge without the heart rate…

  • Thanks Ana! I'll keep at it.
  • Probably bad data. As long as the content doesn't change, the calories should not change that much. Cooking eggs different ways can change the nutrients you get from it though - at least that's what the livestrong website says.

  • Try finding activities that he enjoys - like hiking, dancing, rough housing with the kids if you have them, building something, martial arts, riding bikes, swimming, or whatever. He probably gets frustrated that you are frustrated and then doesn't feel like doing anything. Then you're both aggravated and not enjoying the…
  • Thanks for the replies! So far I'm down 6lbs from last week's weigh in - just walked more than I normally do and watched my calorie/carb intake. Just hope I can keep the momentum up!
  • I highly recommend you read the latest Atkins book if you're going to do it right. Your body does need carbs. You just have to be smarter about which carbs you take in and in moderation. My wife and I have been doing Atkins, per doctor recommendation, since May of this year - we're both down 50lbs - I am down two pant…
  • I'd recommend setting a primary goal and then setting smaller goals between the start and end goal. For example, if your goal was to lose 100 lbs total - then setting a 25lbs goal by Christmas would be reasonable. Just be sure to stick to it. Once you hit each goal, it becomes easier and then you know you're making…
  • I'd say hookers probably get a decent work out from it but you'd be surprised how few calories it burns - even if you work up a good sweat. I'm a newly-wed so trust me I checked! Haha
  • That's kinda what my wife and I have learned while doing the Atkins program. We didn't realize how many foods triggered cravings and hunger. We've found lots of alternatives to satisfy cravings without putting the pounds back on. Instead of pancakes - she uses a soy powder to make the pancakes and we use sugar free syrup.…

  • Sounds like being healthy for your kids needs to be your encouragement and you should consider some sort of marriage counseling. While you're improving yourself, take time to improve your life as well. I have a couple friends going through a similar situation and the counseling really seems to be helping.
  • Brunette - I married one :)
  • Try sugar free chocolate - it comes in a green bag and is made by Russell Stover I believe. Should help your cravings and not be as bad as normal chocolate. Plus, it should help with portion control as well because if you eat too many, your stomach will not be happy. Stay away from Fat-Free - your body needs fat to burn…
  • Hey Pat, You sound a lot like myself - Doc recommended my wife and I do the Atkins style diet. I'm down 32 lbs in 8 weeks. If we exercised on a regular basis, we would probably even be down more. I'd highly recommend it - go get the new atkins book (not the old one) and check out their website www.atkins.com I use this…
  • My wife and I used this drug to help loose weight. Did the B-12 shots etc. It was great for about 3 weeks - after that - nothing. We kept taking it with no results and realized we were just throwing money away. Can't maintain weight or weight loss with a drug. We also started to realize the doc office giving us this stuff…
  • From what I glanced over, it sounds like a gimmick to get you to buy stuff. Our doc recommended a modified Atkins/South Beach plan and my wife and I have lost about 20 lbs each in 4 weeks. Big difference on the belly and we've been able to eat what we want for the most part.
  • Completely understand! My wife and I are not looking at this as a diet - more of a lifestyle change. This is one I feel I can live with because we're just eating smarter. I'm realizing that I don't have to get a big fried onion or something to excite my taste buds - I can eat a big *kitten* steak and try some new veggies…
  • It could be a number of things - my wife and I both thought our Thyroid was messed up. My wife had a slight thyroid problem that they gave her a daily pill for. I had no problem with my thyroid but was low on vitamin d and my t levels were off as well. Doc got me fixed up with some supplements and recommended we do a…

  • Could be Thyroid related - go to the doc - I went a while ago and found out my vitamin D was really low which can keep you from losing weight so I'm taking supplements now. The doctor also recommended a modified atkins diet. We started that two weeks ago and I'm already down 16 lbs!!! My wife is down 11 already! Just…
  • I've smoked for at least 10 years - quit a couple years ago using the Chantix stuff. Worked great! I didn't have a cigarette for over 8 months - then I went out and partied hard one night - thought I could have "just one" which after a good night of drinking turned into "just ten" Then I didn't smoke all week - thought I…
  • Love your Osama picture Candy! My wife was also diagnosed with PCOS a couple years ago. Our doc also recommended that we do Atkins since we've tried everything else to lose weight with little to no results. I'll be sure to send her a link to this thread so she can get involved on this one - I think it'd be a winner all…
  • Thanks everyone for the quick responses and encouragement! Good to see some real human beings that are working towards the same goals! Especially another biker! I always said - if it weren't for bike nights in college - I would have starved - sometimes I should have! LOL Had a place nearly every night of the week with a…
