Carol. Thanksgiving is very late this year due to Nov 1 falling on a Friday. I’m with you. It feels like it should be this week. Barbie, thinking of you and Jake in this new season of life. I’ve been in a downward spiral of self-sabotage. I spent this morning journaling and reflecting and have picked myself up. I’ve been…

Diana, welcome! Good luck with trying to up your protein. I aim for 120 g a day and hit it most days, but I do use protein powder to help me get there - either in a smoothie, a protein coffee, or stirred into plain greek yogurt. Other things that are good to have on hand - already prepared chicken, tuna or salmon in the…

Barbara, this “not that kind of doctor” says yes, probably to you question. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and the sweet comments on my turning 70 at Gibbs Garden picture. Dave gave me that shacket for Christmas last year. I love it with all of its autumn colors. I have finally broken through my plateau. It feels good…

Rita, I am in tears over the fate of Jim. I don’t know what to say. I can’t even process what I am feeling - anger, sadness, futility, all of the above. Barbie, prayers for Jake and you.

Carol, your tree is beautiful. Rebecca, Allie, and Heather, lovely grandchildren! On protein: I shoot for 120 g of protein, 100 oz of water, 25 g of sugar or less, and less carbs than protein. I’m pretty good about hitting the protein and water goals. The other is a little harder. I don’t count the natural sugar in fruits…

We did not lose electricity at our house, but our church friends about 8 miles east of us had a tree fall that not only took the power pole next to it down, but ripped their meter box right off the side of their house. They will probably be out of power for a while. We have gotten 10 inches of rain over the last two days,…

Our washer is a whirlpool agitator-less kind. it gets our clothes clean, but then we don't often get them super dirty. It does sometimes leave detergent residue on particular dark clothes, probably because I have used more detergent than necessary. It doesn't take much. I do like that it figures out how much water is…

I applaud and respect anyone who makes the commitment to keep their online life private. I have said this before, but I will say it again for those who are newer and haven't heard it. I don't mind any of you knowing my real name, but I don't want it typed out in full in this forum because the forum is fully searchable. The…

Lisa, my sock drawer. These are hexagon dividers. It makes me happy.

Mo, you are doing great. The drop in numbers with your bloodwork is impressive. I’ve been following my plan fairly well this week. My legs are feeling the extra steps I’ve been taking.

Here’s my wedding picture. We celebrated 49 years last week. I still have my dress, which my mother made out of unbleached muslin. The waist might fit my thigh today. I can’t believe I thought I was fat. More info on yesterday’s school shooter.

Adjacent county to me. School is only about 30 minutes from my house. Still waiting to see if the grandchildren and children of friends who attend are safe. I think I also know a couple of the teachers. It is just tragic and too close to home. I served on a regional accreditation committee for that school many, many years…

You are welcome!

Well, I lost my log-in streak and I can’t reset it because the newsfeed is gone so I can’t scroll bsck to my last “congratulations……” post. I am just over it. I will start over. I am still mentally and physically exhausted from the Friday night/all day Saturday workshop I just led. I love doing those things. It is my…

Beth, congratulations on finding a place for your mother. It sounds perfect. Kim, what a nightmare! I cannot imagine the frustration. I wish I had a magic wand to make it all better. Jeans, I prefer a bootcut jean with a dark wash and no distressing. The brand I wear is very comfortable for my body. During the summer,…

Tracey. Your table, chairs, and bench are so beautiful. I love your dishes, too. The whole area is just perfect. I’m still waiting on my car to be finished. According to my insurance app, it should be finished today. My brother is doing much better with his recovery. I’m with those who will take every “I Love you” I can…

Lanette, you are correct. I totally missed your post in response to mine. I was skimming way too fast. I can’t remember if I told you my windshield got hit by a rock bringing my brother home. I took it to the body shop today. It was only 4 months ago that the same thing happened on our way home from our eclipse trip. The…

Thanks to those who sent well-wishes for my brother. He is slightly better today. He has been in a lot of pain. Once he gets over this hernia operation, it will be time for knee replacement, one knee at a time. After that, he ought to be all fixed up. Nobody commented on my comment about the Thursday Murder Club coming to…

Morning all. I’m just hanging out in the waiting room while my brother is in surgery. I just saw where The Thursday Murder club is coming to Netflix.

Yay, Tracey! I’m taking my brother for hernia surgery tomorrow. I have to pick him up at 4:30 a.m., which means I have to leave home about 3:45. Yikes! He needs it desperately though. His belly button looks like a horn growing out of the middle of his stomach. It’s at least the size of 8-ounce drinking cup.

Tracie and Flea, I am happy to hear that you both have kicked your MBC into remission. It gives me hope for my friend who is fighting the same thing. She just turned 50. Barbie, I know you are happy to have Jake safe at home.

Beth, fingers crossed for a room for your mom soon. Lisa, the quilt is lovely - a real conversation piece. I love it. We’re getting wind today from Debby, so I decided to take advantage of the breeze and work in my flower bed deer food garden. I got six bags of mulch. I’m going to try once more with my latest coleus…

Barbie, sending healing thoughts for Jake. Beth, my prayers are with you and your mother as you navigate this journey. July was not a good month for me either. I’m tired of playing with the same 2 or 3 lbs. Kim, I would be beyond frustrated in your shoes. I am so sorry. Check out this school newsletter. 100,000+ students,…

Carol, I’m glad your doctor thinks your knee will be ok. Goodness gracious, that had to be scary. Pip, although it does sound like you may have just overdone it in the eat, please get checked out if you aren’t feeling yourself now that you’ve rested. Heather, best wishes for good results. Rita, prayers for your mother. It…

Heather, I could write a book on the organizing aides that work and the ones that don’t. I love lazy susans. I have one of the type you recently got, and I love it! I use it on my middle shelf that is very close to the top shelf. I keep containers of yogurt, soft cream cheese, etc. It makes every item accessible, and the…

I just assume that they aren’t real men but spam bots. I’m not exactly sure how that works but they seem to have similar or the same profile picture and different names. I delete them and move on. Machka has talked about them before, I think.

I can’t remember if we have discussed the test for determining if a food/snack is a good source of protein or not. It’s all over social media, so I’m sure many of you know this already, but for those who might not: You take the number of grams of protein and multiply it by ten (i.e. Stick a zero on the end). If the food is…

I don’t know if any of the prepared protein shakes are as ingredient friendly as making your own with a good quality powder, but the OWYN brand comes pretty close. The letters stand for only what you need. I’ve only tried the caramel and the vanilla, but both were delicious in iced coffee. I drank one by itself one day…

Welcome, Carla. I’m from Northeast Georgia, but my sister lives on the West Bank, right off the Huey P Long within walking distance of the river.

Kylia, I see lots of AHs in your family. You are not one of them. Allie, hope you get some answers and relief for your pain. Carol, good luck with the knee surgery. I need to get some more shots in my knees soon. I am trying to postpone surgery as long as I can. Beth, I’m so happy you consider the cochlear implant a…
