Lanette, I haven't yet, as the only thing that isn't working is the button on the upper right of FB. that takes me to Messenger prompts that weird message. If I keep the chat bubbles open then I can get in Messenger that way. I can't play my "words with friends" that I like to do. If I am in Messenger and click on starting the game that weird message happens. I think its just a problem on the companies end, but this issue doesn't warrant buying a newer tablet. This one is about 5 years old.

Flea - Funny you'd mention outhouses, we were proud of that flush toilet, even if it took a bucket of water to get it flushed! Many of our neighbors didn't have one. In fact, three of my older brothers actually dug a septic tank eight-feet deep, with shovels, into that Texas red clay - and before it was plumbed in, they put me and my sister down in the bottom and left us there while we cried and screamed. Until Mama lost her religion with the boys and they fetched us out of there. (Southern for cussing them up one side and down the other). That's a sixty-year-old memory…
I really enjoy the suburban outlook and finding out what people often don't realize they take for granted, in all honesty. And am adept at code-switching, long before I knew it was a thing. I can both write and speak in what is essentially a midwestern speech pattern and tone, much like almost all the national newscasters use, so they are easily accepted people from both coasts and borders. I do not speak that way around people here; they're much more comfortable with my Texas accent and delivery. I tend to use those words and patterns when I write more for emphasis than anything.
And my husband's most comfortable workdays at home are the ones where he's able to just feed the fire with the piles and piles of brush and read a book or two in between. He's in heaven. And looking forward to it in his next four days off!

Worked then the soup kitchen. They were short staffed.
Remember that gal (W) who was non-English speaking working at BK. Well, I realized today that she wasn’t there so I mentioned it to B. He said that she quit sometime last week. Then he told me that they put in some paperwork for her and a red flag came up about her Social Security number. She quit the next day. I also found out that a guy who works at night got her the job (I was quite sure this was what happened)
pip – so glad to hear that you guys are negative. What a terrible ending to such a lovely cruise. What a lovely kitchen. Kirby did a great job. So much storage space!
Carol – glad your hubby came home. You know, when he gets used to eating non-salt food, salt food will really be apparent and he won’t want it.
When I got home from the soup kitchen was watering the plants and the guy who I think we’re going to use for landscaping next year stopped by to measure how much mulch we’ll need. He seems to be very knowledgeable and I know that he does the lawns for a few other people in this neighborhood and their lawns look very nice. We’ll probably go with him next year
Going to the Green Room to see “Margaritaville” tonight. Everyone says it’s such a good show. I have a flowery shirt and a (fake) lei that I’m going to wear.
Think I’ll go take a walk to Food Lion. They have kiwi on sale and something called a red pineapple. Never heard of that, so I’m going to give it a try.

Today I am a sore puppy, Zepbound's side effects are flu like achiness. No nausea though. Took the hottest shower ever this morning, feeling better. No constipation (tmi) so my abdomen is feeling less like when I had my gallbladder issues. It should be better from now on, until my next injection next Thursday when it starts over. Hopefully in a lessening degree.
My food choices today:
The pie chart looks interesting. Normally if I eat well its a peace sign. Now its more of 3 pieces of pie.

Heather: UTIs are the pits. I hope you recover quickly.
Started planting up my summer containers today. The weather was almost too hot. We resorted to sitting in the shade eating ice cream. The fine weather is set to continue a little longer.

Barbie - I don't know if you are on Facebook or are able to access it, but this came through my feed this morning: all of the dog toys (buried cemetery style) that a golden retriever demolished came back to haunt him and there's a bunch. 😁 Annie might have pillow zombies coming to haunt her! Here's the clip:
I've just started to read "How to Solve your own Murder" by Kristen Perrin. Only a few pages in and it looks good, so thanks to you or whichever of you ladies here recommended it.
Rebecca - I'm glad you found a way to keep that Fire tablet working. And good luck with the Zepbound. Once you get over the initial discomfort, hope it works great for you. Upping the protein sounds like a great idea, I like your food log.
Michele - interesting about W's SS number. 🤨

at least for the next three weeks(if it doesn't get too hot) I have four days of exercise planned without taking the dog out. Zumba two nights a week and wetlands two days. I will start doing aqua zumba next month-not sure the date yet. I will talk a few friends into walking with me either at the wetlands or the park. I will just have to do better at planning .

Doris was just hangry..it all worked out..
I am mostly packed to leave tomorrow, I did my Trulicity shot tonight

I have been dealing with my brother’s death by focusing all my attention on his poor neglected dog. She was the body shop dog and I think all the men who worked there fed her leftovers and various assorted other table foods. Poor thing hasn’t been groomed in forever and her overgrown hair is matted and full of beggar lice and cockleburs. I actually cut a long skinny piece of metal out of her hair yesterday that I found when trying to brush some of the other debris out. She had never walked on a leash before. I had to drag her into the vet, but she walked out on the leash. Baby steps! I told her she and I could diet together. The vet wants her to drop 10 lbs. we left the vet $465 poorer, but she is now current on shots, has flea and heartworm meds, diet dogfood, and a grooming appointment for June 5. Expect “after pictures” at that time. Meet Lavender, more affectionately known as Possum. Just an FYI for all you city folks, beggar lice are plants, not animals. As bad as Possum looks, she didn’t have fleas or worms. And notice how nice I was to her and did not show her weight in the picture. Suffice it to say, all of that fluff is not hair.

Great job Kay..she will get lots of love in your care that's for sure..time to go to sleep ,I did take a short nap this afternoon

I have decided that in order for it to work well, I need to put in some work too. So logging my protein, so what I eat matters, as well as getting regular exercise is something I need to do. I do have to realize that the day after my dose days are going to be achy days, but hopefully not always so. On the good side exercising Mon-Thursday should be really doable! I don't dose until the afternoon, so without really planning that, it was smart of me!!! 🙃😂
Yes I am glad Amazon fixed the issue.😁. Glad you're enjoying your book! I might have to check that out at my library.

Big hugs to you! Lavender looks like such a sweet dog, and seems to be smiling.💖 That was nice of you to care, and pay for all the upkeep involved in getting her to a good place. Probably very healing for both of you.💖

Got another load of donations taken to the church for the youth garage sale in the morning- We had more stuff we could have taken but ran out of time and dh was NOT feeling well-thinking it is just stress but had constant runs to the bathroom all night and this morning so he was a bit grumpy.
He sat while I loaded the car- a few boxes were pretty heavy and a bit awkward to carry down the stairs from the other house but I managed. He did take the large microwave down to the car. I filled the rest of my car with as much as I could- that made 4 car loads plus I had a friend from church pick up two car loads of kids toys that wouldn't fit in my car- Little Tikes coupes, slides, etc. I unloaded all of it while dh sat in the car. Said if I wanted to take more over, I could do it myself.
Hope all of it sells and the kids make a lot of money. It is for camp so I was happy to donate. No real plans for the weekend. Dh said he will go see his mom tomorrow- planned on it today but wasn't feeling good and the regular nurse was there to visit her. The Hospice team seem to have her medicated a bit too much in our opinion. When he sees her now, since they took over her care two weeks ago- she can't feed herself, just mumbles. She was better on Tuesday but that was the day we had the family meeting and they knew we would be there. We know she needs to be medicated so it is easier for the staff but maybe not quite so much. The nurse called her a "deceased asset" which hit dh a bit hard.
Have a great weekend ladies

I've put another bottle on the shelf! That's 4 2-litre bottles since early January!!
Bottles … explained in February …
Bottles … explained in February …
On January 11, before I started actively losing weight, I did a 60 km bicycle ride. I had been cycling through the Christmas break and my legs felt pretty good to start. But once I hit the hilly section, I struggled. Then I had a long time during the rest of the ride to think about things as I plodded along.
I think of weight in terms of 2-litre bottles of pop (soft drink). Is that 68 oz in the US?
On January 11, I calculated that I could definitely stand to lose at least 16 kg (35 lbs). 16 kg = 8 of those 2-litre bottles of pop.
If we were to place 4 of those 2-litre bottles of pop into one shopping bag and 4 in another and then pick them up ... they'd be fairly heavy. If we were to go for a long walk carrying them, or try to jog carrying them, or if we were to put them in a backpack and go for a ride ... they'd soon start to feel really heavy.
No wonder I struggled in the hilly section of that ride!! And then had to do the rest of the ride quite slowly.
Now I've taken 2 of those 2-litre bottles of pop and placed them back on the shelf. My shopping bags are lighter! I can walk a bit further!
Meanwhile, I have been exercising to strengthen my legs (in particular, but other parts of me as well).
Now I cycle up hills and they're not quite so hard as they once were. Now I jog and can manage 1.5 km rather than just 1 km. I did a 7.5 km walk just recently which is the longest walk I've done in a long time.
Every 2-litre bottle of pop I put back on the shelf should make the activity I do a little bit easier.
And the more active I am now, the easier it should be for me to be active as I get older.

That's a sample of what I'm eating. The lunch is almost always the same. The dinner is quite similar each day. The snacks will vary.
My daily goal is set at 1500 calories. So I walked and climbed stairs to get the total "Your Daily Goal" up to 2068.
And that's how I've lost 8.4 kg = 18.5 lbs since early January.

Beth Fohrtunately we just got badly needed rain. Parts of Wisconsin got hit. I also learned St.Louis got badly hit. Again fortunately where my relatives live they are okay!
We have gone from the 80's and low 90's to high of around 60. So sweatshirt and light jackets tomorrow. I will cover my herbs at night.

Heather - I am excited to see your new bedroom. It’s sounds divine.
Machka - I’m going to try to watch those webinars.
Barbie - Sorry that Annie got at the pillows. Have you tried a radio on when you are out? It helped my in-laws dog.
I would miss Rodger too, I really do love him, but I’m tired of the misunderstandingsBeth - I have the phone dilemma thing to deal with next month too. Our plans are ridiculous here. I bought this one through the plan, I may keep it for another 2 years. Rodger’s has to be traded in.
Our granddog is crate trained and she also goes there for a safe place. She had a bed in the living room too. They don’t actually close the crate anymore she just likes to go in there.
We decorate for different days at the home I work at too. It really does make a difference for I would say the majority of the residents. Some scoff at them, but most of them actually enjoy them. We go over the top too to keep them entertained and happy. So many never get any visitors so we are their families.
Pip - I don’t think we can even get tests here for Covid anymore. Glad you tested negative.
Nice colours in the kitchen.Carol - I hope your husband listens to you, but ultimately it’s his decision to make.
Lanette - I am friends with one of those girls on FB now. I’m happy to say most of those poor kids actually have decent lives these days. The shacks are all mostly replaced and doing better. I’m sure there was a lot of abuse in those little shacks, I didn’t realize it until I was looking back though.
Lisa - we had a wood stove my mother burned everything in that when she finally got the fire going. I’m fairness to her, the stove was not air tight. We woke up to smoke almost every morning with my mother fretting, clucking her tongue and sighing. My dad would start it when he left for work but it would be out by the time my Mom got up to get us kids up.My mother was not accustomed to the way we lived and had no interest or knowledge in fixing anything up. She was an only child and grew up in a different class than I did. I often thought she married my Dad to get a big family. He was the third from last of 7 but was raised by his eldest sister a lot because my grandmother was in a psychiatric hospital off and on throughout his life.
He had a hard life.I continued reading through but didn’t take time for notes.
I couldn’t sleep this morning so showed up at work at 730. I had a nice talk with my boss before anyone else arrived.
Rodger picked Jonah up after work and brought him for a sleepover. He is going to do our lawn mowing this summer. He has been saving for a year for a PlayStation 5. This should get him to the finish line. This evening he and I went and bought him a pair of shoes for him on clearance for mowing in so he wouldn’t get grass stains on his good ones. We then bought some flowers for me to plant this weekend.
I’m off to bed now, it will be a busy day tomorrow.

My husband used to do this.
His father was a journalist and my husband went to a somewhat posh private school, and then he became a journalist, so he'll usually talk with a more posh Australian accent. But when he went to work on the orchards, he'd switch his accent and word choice to a country Australian accent, something a bit closer to Crocodile Dundee, but not that strong.
The first time I heard him do that, I was quite taken aback! Like, "what in the world was that coming out of your mouth?"

Oh, code switching! I can't help myself! Sometimes I find myself embarrassing. 😜
I'm taking back the bedlinen set I bought yesterday. I got it home and decided I didn't like it. I'll do that this morning. I've ordered an 800 count set from Amazon. Curtains should arrive today. I love the glass ceiling shade, and I've ordered new knobs for the four wardrobe doors. Will tidy up and hoover in there today. Get a few more things set up.
My son came over to help with the dresser. Still a struggle, but they got it up. Then he put my new shade up. (He's 6ft 2 ) Then he sorted out the TV he brought over. It's not too big, and John appreciates it. The recorder seems to be working OK with it. John installed the old one upstairs, to replace a 20 year old one I watch occasionally.
So, all good, and I will slowly be working on the room today. My perfectionism and OCD keeps rearing it's head. 😔

Today's bicycle ride on a cold and windy day. I should have been wearing a headband or something over my ears and an extra pair of socks! Still, it was good to get out there.

When my son came to help with the dresser, John immediately went to the other side to lift it with him. We had discussed that the whole point of having my son come over was so that John wouldn't have to do the heavy lifting! He could be the third man in front. I shouted really loudly. I think I scared them all! Honestly, men and their pride! 😙 I said I didn't want to have to nurse him if he injured himself, but really I was just annoyed at the stupidity. My son got his fingers trapped, but all was well.
I think John was also a bit put out that I asked my son to put the lightshade up. My son is several inches taller. All through this process he has been 'off'. Not himself. He is often like this when we have workmen in the house, plus he doesn't like spending money on decorating, or see the point, plus .... something else. I think he was surprised that I took a unilateral decision to get the room done and just went ahead with it. Whatever, he has not been as cheerful as usual, but I guess even he doesn't know why. I know he is annoyed about all the money a car we rarely use is costing him, but he has to decide what to do about that.
I expect many of you have husbands whose pride is easily wounded. Could it be that I have decided to sleep in there permanently and I'm staking out my territory? On reflection, that could be it. He's beginning to talk about redecorating his room, but it's a more daunting prospect, with a new window required, new carpet, and loads of furniture in there.
I ordered him a new mattress cover last night. I will buy him his favourite vanilla slices from M&S. ☺️

Carol - Beautiful family! 🤩
Our internet has been going on and off this morning. John is deprived of watching his cricket, and is not happy. He also has a runny tummy, and looks pale.
I got on the bus, and, for the second day, had a very nice chat all the way. Both women about my age. There was no problem about a refund for my bedlinen, and I picked up some strappy camisoles while I was there. I wear them instead of bras. Then I went in search of John's cakes, but he won't be able to eat them today. Also picked up avocados, garlic prawns, (today's lunch for me), and a red pepper.
I got off the bus on the way home to buy two of Canhams chilli scotch eggs. Soooooo fabulous. Then caught the next bus home. Got back to find John almost in tears about the internet, but it seems to have stabilised now. It's terrifying how dependent we are on it!
Dinner tonight is Tandoori chicken with roasted broccoli. Rice and tomatoes. Yoghurt.
