Joining the others on here that are feeling tired today. Humidity is really high at 88% today. Very unusual for here. We had a nasty thunderstorm last night contributing to the humidity. I have to work the visitor center today.

😀 I just finished dealing with another thing that Jake had scheduled for auto renewal that I didn't know about. Since this was something that was mailed to the house, I just called and paid for it and made sure that it didn't come again next year. The other one was an online service that surprised me with a charge of almost $100. I asked the credit card to dispute it and I went to the website to cancel it with the message that the recipient was deceased. I don't know yet whether I'll have to pay for this year. Who knows what will show up next.
❤️ Annie, how sad that your dad said he wanted to go back to his former home. The confusion between long term and short term memory is a tough part of dementia. Sending hugs to you. Please remember that it is about the illness, not about you.
😁 Ginny, glad you are safe. House repairs will be a chore. Sorry you have to deal with that.
😀 Heather, I have watched your grands grow up through your photos and stories. They grow so fast. When I talked to my daughter this week she talked about her elder son beginning his last year in high school and I said, I still think about the photo of him in the baby sweater I knit for him when he was born.
😀 Ange, welcome to our friendly community. I have found walking my dogs a significant part of my exercise program. I walk them first thing in the morning, again after breakfast, then again after our evening meal. I listen to podcasts and audiobooks while I walk and always have an ebook on my phone to read if I have trouble sleeping.
😀 My dog walking friend cared for her husband with Alzheimer's for a long time. She said that often he called her "The Queen" or commented that she should probably go home because his wife would be returning soon. She said that she often set aside some time to cry so she could return to him in a helpful manner.
😀 One of my happiness commandments is "Don't take things personally". Another is "Don't expect praise or recognition".

Ange - Welcome! Hope you're cooler in the Colorado mountains than we are in the foothills of the Ozarks in Arkansas… It's a great group of women, all trying to be healthier, and we know that requires attention to all our lives, mental, emotional, social AND physical, so end up talking about everything under the sun. Glad you're here, drop into any conversation that interests you… and walking is almost always a good thing, for whatever reason…
Lanette - Anti-inflammatories can have enormous system-wide benefits, but I know you already know that they can have some pretty big drawbacks, too. Hope yours are all helpful. And I found Dakota on a local Facebook group. She posted that she's trying to live off-grid and looking for local odd jobs. A number of people chimed in immediately recommending her work, so I figured I'd reach out to her. I'm hoping it's a good relationship to begin, because there are so many things that are just beyond me these days, and I hate for it all to land on Corey on his precious time off.
I just got a call from the ortho people - my second pair of shoe orthotics are in, so I'm heading up there in an hour. I found out this morning that simply traipsing around without them in my rubber boots yesterday for an hour left both my knees in pain today. Really looking forward to having a second pair!
Better jump in the shower - still sweaty/sticky from being outside for just an hour getting the watering done and a few minor things cleaned up.
Later y'all,
Love from sweaty Arkansas… 😅🥵😂

Barbie-I’ve been hoping to move for about 25 years. It’s not solely my decision. I’m just bored and tired of noise (as we’ve been serenaded by the neighbors jackhammering all week) and of so many people.
Sadly, travel has become so insanely expensive that I can’t just be gone all the time, though that was my plan before prices for everything got so high.We are also contemplating how on earth we will afford health insurance starting next year. It’s expected to increase 70% for us. It’s already insanely expensive and another 70% might make me just not have it. So, moving just might happen because of that.
Rebecca-Athena sure looks double jointed.
I love seeing the kids grow up. Thanks to all of you who share.
Yesterday was a 4.4 mostly urban walk. There were some tricky parts, but mostly easier trails. I had a cold coffee drink, which I usually don’t care for (this one tasted like Java ice cream) and Apple galette for the pastry. I ate a sliver of it this morning.Tina in CA

Annie - My every sympathy. 💔 Lots of love. Xxxxxxxx
Max arrived at 10 am, eager for work, so he can save up for his keyboard. We settled on cleaning the insides of the windows, which have rarely been done! He was utterly meticulous, and every window in the house is gleaming. It took him nearly 3 hours, and we paid him £30.
We picked up the girls from their art class. Bea's clay model was outstanding. They had labelled it 'Unaided Work', and were leaving it out to inspire others. They are going back tomorrow to finish their projects. Lunch was a huge success, and Max joined in. GF sausages, bacon, mashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, carrot sticks, lettuce with dressing, GF pittas. Bea had her usual GF pasta and pesto. We all had Haagen Dazs ice cream, raspberries, and stewed berries.
After that I was collapsing, so John took them out to play cricket in the park. When they came back they played the Monopoly game Max had invented. Then Bea went on my tablet and Edie, John and I all did some art. I covered a previous bad attempt at a canvas for my room with gesso, and Edie did the same with hers. Then Edie started painting a jellyfish, and I made a card for their grandad, who has skin and prostate cancer. Then DDIL arrived to pick them up and had a cup of tea.
A very good day. They are all off for pizza at Fatto when my son gets home, as the bicycle track session was cancelled because of rain. Fortunately, their expedition to the park was dry, but the clouds were black.
Phew! Good job , well done.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Barbie That is one reason I try to avoid auto renewal for subscriptions if I can. I try to pay year by year I know they offer a discount for auto renewal. The few experiences I have had to get out of it did not make it worth it for me!

Lanette, thank you so much for missing me. I have been somewhat staying caught up with reading but have not had the energy or motivation to update. The family drama associated with my brother’s passing has just been exhausting. It will probably get uglier before it gets better. One day I am hopeful. The next it seems hopeless. It’s an emotional roller coaster, of which I have no control. Just have a will, and get your affairs in order. Just saying’.
the update you’ve all been waiting on: Possum and Mama are getting along well. She lets her in the house where she sleeps and eats on the sunporch. Her curls are coming back in. I may only allow a groomer to give her a bath and a trim from now on. She is so much cuter with hair. She seems to have lost some more weight, but I haven’t officially weighed her. She visibly has more energy, runs and is frisky instead of waddling so I know she feels better.
I went to the orthopedist today and got cortisone shots in my knees. I have an appointment for gel shots in 3 months. My knees feel better already.
I thought you might like a “Jasper fix.” He is my brother’s grandson, who I have unofficially adopted as mine. I don’t want to get into my niece’s story on a public forum. Short version is that she is working extremely hard to get her life on the right track for the benefit of this sweet child. She needs a lot of support and help with the baby, and I am doing what I can.13 -
Ginny: Tornado!!!!! Oh my giddy aunt! (((hugs))), just lots of (((hugs))).
Annie: Dementia is such a stinker of a disease. It steals our loved ones away from us little by little. ((( hugs)))
Heather: They grow so quickly. Enjoy them while you can.
Allie: Smiles has lost his baby looks, and look like a real little man.
It’s been a changeable day. Did chores, and planted up some lettuce seedlings. My first lot have shot, second lot are doing okay.

Pip – absolutely beautiful garage sale find! If that lady does not give you Luna, she seriously needs to have her head examined. Update: sounds more and more like Luna is yours
Wed here: beautiful day, honestly I’d like to go in the pool. However, the gal asked Vince and me to bowl for her since she won’t be able to and her hubby has something to do. She did ask Vince to bowl until the end of the season. When she asked us, she seemed so tired.
Mo - When Vince took the CPA exam, he got the highest mark on the law portion. I’d almost be afraid for him to audit a law class here because he’d challenge the professor all the time.
Evelyn – have a great time with your son
Lanette – I’m not a fan of the weight machines because to me, they isolate the muscle too much. Now, to me they’re great for rehab. For example, when you’re doing biceps, you’re sitting down. At least when you’re standing, you’re using your abs muscles. Admitted, not a whole lot. But at least some. Sitting down you aren’t using them at all.
Came home from work then took Ganon for a walk around the block. I really don’t want to take him somewhere else. Evidently, she gets sick in the car, and he gets anxious when a car goes by in our development so I don’t think he’d do well on Startown Road, even on a Sunday when there aren’t many cars
Tina – so happy you had such a good time in Ireland
Heather – Edie sure has matured
barbie – Kohl’s took away their store card and issued a credit card. I didn’t want such a high credit limit so I reduced it. Do you know that that had a negative impact on my credit? Not much, but a little. I’m just afraid that if something happens and it falls into the wrong hands, I could be liable for a lot of charges and I very seldom use their card. We used to go to the Space Center all the time. The only thing that they charged you for were the bus tours. Now you have to buy a ticket just to go to the gift shop, and they charge you to park.
After bowling went out to the pool. The water was way down. At first I thought the auto feed wasn’t working, but it seemed to be. Then as I was walking around (good way to dry off enough just so that I’m not dripping when I go in) I noticed a gusher by the equipment pad. So I mentioned it to Vince and showed him about where it was. He had just replaced a clamp and it broke which is why all the water was coming out. He ordered two this time from Amazon. We went to a pool store here the last time it happened. They had a clamp but not the size we needed
Ginny – so glad you’re safe. We had a tornado one time while we were taking the sheriff’s citizen academy and had to go downstairs outside the 911 center and wait for it to pass. The center was in the basement. Glad you are safe. The other things can be replaced.
Ange – welcome! Come back and tell us more. Why did you leave Noom
Annie – here’s a real big hug just for you
The plan for tomorrow is to do some HIIT and then probably cool off some in the water.

🌻🌞 Margaret, I agree with you about automatic renewals but Jake had his own ideas. I was able to cancel quite a few that had reminders but these appeared without warning. In the instructions to my daughter, I list things that pay automatically (utilities primarily).
😀 Allie , there are so many cute kids in your life.
😀 Kay, good to hear from you. Sorry about all the family drama. good news about Possum.
😥 Tina, sorry you're stuck somewhere you don't want to be.
😀 I got my errands completed today. It's amazing how complicated it can be going to three places within two blocks of each other, but now it's done and I won't have to go out again until grocery pick up on Sunday.

Hello Ladies, it is time for me to go back to work tomorrow. Busy day today.
First, I would like to welcome Ange from the Colorado Mountains. Do you know how to ski? I always wanted to take lessons in Colorado. I have friends there too. Congrats on the new puppy. What kind of puppy do you have?
Rebecca, early in my marriage, DH would rip my sheets with his toenails. I gave him a large toenail clippers and told him to use them before going to bed. His nails were to sharp to. he scratched me by an accident and I told him to cut the nails too.😂
Heather, young Edie, and Max looked so cute.
Pip, do you have any word on the puppy?
Rose was mad at me most of the day because she has a hot spot, and I am treating it. I gave her Benadryl and applied a medicated spray for her condition. Then she ran out the door when I brought in a package. I figured she would return soon. It was hot today. I came to the door and told Rose to come, and she ran in like I kicked her out. She drank lots of water. Then ignored me, refused treats from me, and turned her back on me. Then I thought she was sick, but she soon returned to her usual self. It was so hot that I killed six wasps in my house that were coming in either from the attic or the vents. I had to order more spray. Two were in Julia's old room, and four were in the downstairs bathroom and Laundry room. At least they were not all together. One was in the morning, then 1 in the afternoon, and two ended the evening.
I probably need Terminex to come and get them. I ordered two more cans of spray. We have large red wasps in Mississippi, and they sting painfully. My foot swelled up, and then it was pretty itchy. I had three pairs of shorts in the giveaway box that I took out. I don't know why it is hard to let go of clothes that are too big. The other day, my shorts fell to the ground at the Kroger store. I was so embarrassed. Good thing no one was around. I did laundry, fought wasps, scrubbed my bathroom, and the first-floor bathroom, but I also need to do DS's bathroom. DH says his mom's memory is bad and needs assisted living, so he contacted a place for Mom and got some places to look at. He did well on his interview today. I hope it works for him.Chow for now.
Mo in Mississippi.

10871087. She is smaller than Luna about 50#) which is a plus. She was very affectionate towards me. She’s local, in Fresno. I told her about our plans to go to Vegas and was Leary about having a pet sitter with her so soon after getting her, she was more than willing to take her back while we went to Vegas, no problem and we didn’t even have to pay her. Kirby wasn’t with me when I went. I think her adoption fee would be less than luna’s. Luna is $400. I don’t know what this fee would be. I submitted an application for her. I was going to let them know about Luna on Friday. I would have had to take her to reedley to drop her off while we were at Vegas (8-31 to 9-4) then go back and pick her up.
She is not a lab, but that’s okay with me. My dream would be an English lab but I’m good with whatever we get. The ab location for this girl was a lot less extensive than the lab application. We hopefully will have a new member before we know it. Oh and I took Lucy and Chispa to meet her and there was no problem. I also walked them all without a problem. Shes a little over 2 years old so that’s more of a plus, she’s not in the crazy teenage years. She already had a litter. We’ll see.

I’m running a day behind. I got caught up in a show while I was working on Christmas presents last night and before I knew it I was an hour and a half late getting to bed. Then, probably because I didn’t take time to relax before going to bed I tossed and turned until close to 1am. I don’t know how far I’ll get tonight catching up, but I’m going to give it a shot. It’s just after 9, I just got home from ceramics. I went tonight instead of tomorrow night because I have to work tomorrow evening for a bit.
Mo - isn’t your DH a minister? Can he vilunteer in the community, a lot of jobs are found through word of mouth. He may make some connections with other volunteers and have a job before he knows it. I have gotten 5 jobs in my life just because of word of mouth.
Lisa - I agree you rarely hear about men putting things off for their wives education, job, whatever. Although I think in the younger generation it is more common that it was, still not often enough yet for sure.
Barbie - I hope you enjoyed looking at the photo of you and Jake when you were young. These days I find 40’s young!
Heather - Hugs it tugs at our hearts when we realize how fast they are growing up on us doesn’t it?
What lovely photos of Edie.Rebecca - Your grands are adorable, Eli’s cheeks say it all! I had to do a second take of Athena’s arm. You must be right.
Barbara - I know so many that went to university for 4 years and didn’t do well until they went back as a more mature person. I think sometimes kids are pressured to go when they haven’t even had a chance to get to know what they like and don’t like about career options.
I like the idea of something useful, like a trade to give themselves time to figure out what they might want differently.Ginny - So glad you weren’t injured. Such a shame you have so many repairs just before you’re ready to sell.
Can’t do it tonight. I’m sleepy. At least finished all of the 22nd.

Tracey, the church is praying for him. We have been with that church since we were married but they were devastated when he moved to MS. We will see what happens. My boyfriend of many years back proposed, but he wanted me to quit nursing school and support his education. So I said it was too soon to get married . So men do want us to give up a lot for them. Education, time, money and so on. Good night Tracey.

Good morning my friends!
Thanks for all the kind words about my Dad. Your support is very helpful. He seems to have forgotten the idea of selling the house and moving. Yay! I might tell him he can't sell because the house is in a trust, if he brings it up. I'm getting closer to lying to him every day. So sad.
Machka Dad talks about his early childhood daily but he talks about other times too.
Lisa hope Dakota works well.
Lanette Dad is polite to us but he forgets that we knew Mom and didn't know his childhood places. So it's hard to know how well he places us without putting him on the spot. He knows our names pretty well..."My body is a science experiment" LOL! Mine too!
Ange welcome! Yay for puppies! … We talk about everything but avoid religion and politics, just to keep the peace.
Barbie yes so much is hidden in the finances these days!
Heather cool activities! I'm just realizing I didn't plan anything for my sister beyond food. Oh well. I think she is happy to be able to continue her couch to 5k program.
Allie glad you had a great trip!
Dr Katiebug good to see you! Helping Jasper is such a wonderful thing for you to do.
Flea that was a good laugh!
Pip good luck with your dog search!
Ginny hugs for you and your neighbors recovering from the tornado!
Well for today's entertainment I think we are going to Walmart. Then out to dinner with my cousin.
Have a marvelous day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

Good morning! Spent night in new apartment last night. Came over to Columbus and helped set up for a conference since I didn't get to help with big spring conference due to surgery. Two friends met me here andIgave them the tour. They brought me some lovely house warming gifts, toured the place. They confirmed my choice. Then we went to hotel and did three busy hours of set up and had a nice dinner. Came to new home and set up tv and internet. Slept in new bed (it will be great for back issues). Slept well, went out and got early morning walk in (5 laps around building got me 30 minutes and 1.25 miles). I am more than ready to start living here full time. Going back in an hour (waiting for traffic to stabilize) and will go in to office to clean out stuff some more. This weekend I will probably bring over a load of small stuff-get everything set fro bringing cats over next Wednesday or Thursday.
Take care all,

I had my two of my cousins over for tea yesterday. While waiting for other cousin to come my cousin took a nice picture of my with the snacks. I make my own mix nuts combo now…pecan, walnuts and macadamia nuts. They have less oxalate in them than almonds and peanuts. She hopefully sends her other pictures.

Margaret ~ You look really young and pretty!😊
2 -
Sue - I neglected to mention how interesting you got some rain a couple days ago. I miss those rainbows. My area is now officially in "drought" status.
Pip - that dog in the photo looks like a sweetheart - glad the girls got along with her. I think there's a benefit to getting a little smaller dog. I love larger dogs but one would be hard to handle by myself anymore.
Kay - You have been busy - thanks for stopping by to fill us in. Glad to hear Possum and your mom are getting along well. Jasper is a cutie - is he staying with you?
Mo - amazing how our dogs know when something is up that they aren't going to like. Almost like mind readers. Hope Rose's hot spots improve quickly. Sorry to hear about those wasps - all buzzy things need to stay outdoors. Glad there wasn't an audience when your shorts fell to the ground at Kroger's.😁
Barbara - when you were attending the BB&B classes, did they have you carry weights and step up onto the platform? I looked at the BB&B link you posted which showed the different exercises and saw one where the participants wore weighted vests, didn't see free weights. The other day I had both hands full and paused way too long making the 2 steps up onto my deck from the shop. A balance thing, maybe some muscle too. I dug my step platform out from under the bed and I'm thinking just holding weights and stepping up and off might be a good start at doing better. Breaking my blasted toe on my right foot three years ago has had long-lasting consequences.
Michele - good point about using the machines at the gym vs. free weights. If I was 30 and into body building, machines would likely be the way to go, but I'm used to free weights and have a collection of them. I see older folks using the machines at the gym, and I get it. Buying free weights and toting them around and storing them can be a hassle.
Tina - if you could, would you move to another county or state to get a better insurance rate?
Annie - I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of "storytelling" like the house is in a trust to get your dad calmed down. It's neat you were raised to have a conscience and honor your parents! I had to stretch the truth with DH sometimes to get his mind on other things. It was kinder and better for both of us than trying to reason with him.
Barbie - those auto-renews and auto-pays can be so tricky. After the ordeal I went through with McAfee a couple years ago, I went through my accounts and made sure there weren't any more. I wasn't even aware of the McAfee auto-renew until the charges hit my credit card. I guess it was part of the package when I bought the laptop at Staples. 😣
Ginny- so glad you are loving your new retirement home. Talk about timing with your old home needing work done and you won't have to endure trying to live in the mess.
Debbie - the Safeway ad came out yesterday. Hardly any bargains or specials this week, though there are usually in-store specials that aren't in the circular. I think WinCo is really taking a toll. I have found several items there that are a lot cheaper than Safeway, and find more all the time. Walmart is the only grocery that fills orders for customer pick-up so they are still getting that type of business.
Margaret - your tea looked very inviting. Great photo and you are cute as a button with your lovely smile! 😍
Went for my early morning walk, decided beforehand I was going to skip picking blueberries across the street at Roger's. Good thing, I spotted 2 fawns hiding there among the bushes and I would have driven them out. I wonder where mommy is.
Heading to the dentist this morning to get a permanent crown. The temporary has been fine but I'm ready for it to go so I can floss normally back there. Thought about stopping at the gym beforehand but will skip this morning, don't want to be late to the dentist's and don't want to be rushed at the gym.

I would say she is the size of Lucy. I wouldn’t have a problem with Luna she’s around 10-15 pounds heavier. I got a text from the foster that she let them know I submitted my application and thought we would be great parents too. I’m really excited to know that she is willing to babysit her when we need her to.
