Lisa/Electrolyte drinks: I take a water pill which reduces my potassium and other electrolytes. I drink a bottle/packet of either Gatorade zero or Powerade Zero every day with lunch/dinner. With CKD, I am supposed to easy on the potassium. My numbers are on the low side and good for my kidneys doing this. Perhaps you can add a daily electrolyte drink to help with the vertigo? With colitis of any kind, it is good to keep your electrolytes in mind.
Lucy is scared of riding in the car. First dog I ever had that gets sick in the car and is scared of driving in it. I've been working with her to get in the car without being scared. Yesterday, I sat in the car with her and the window wide open, and the car running. Once she stopped shaking, I took her for a quick ride around the campground. She did good there. She is napping now from our morning walk and once she wakes up, I'm try the car thing again. This time I want to take her for an 8 mile drive around the whole park. I got some calming chews for later when we go to the vet. That's a 15 mile drive one way. I don't have a kennel, but a small portable one that she is kinda big for now. I may put that in the car just in case.
LATER: took her for the 8 mile drive and she is doing much better. The vet ride will end with a doggie cup of ice cream if she doesn't get sick next time. Dairy Queen gives out doggie cups of ice cream.
Thought for today:
Why did the seagull cross the road?
Just beak-ause.

Allie had that fun picture of Mike Wolfs from American Pickers she posted here and on Facebook⦠I tried to find the original picture I had of me but this copy is from my Christmas letter of 2010. On Facebook I explained that my son married a girl from Bettendorf Iowa. The store that was in the original show was in a close city to her. It is called the quad cities of Iowa. He was there which made it even more fun. He explained to us how the show got its name. They were not allowed to have antique in the name. He had been a picker (one who goes antique hunting) for years and then they added American. He gave my future DIL an antique brown pot. I bought a blue and white jug I still put out on my patio. He was such a handsome and nice man. The pig head in the background was from one of their picks. It was from a Piggly Wiggly store which is a grocery chain in Iowa. My grandparents had one across from them in Southern Minnesota.

Good afternoon my friends!
Yay for escaping tsunami damage! So glad everyone is okay. At least as far as I know. I haven't seen the news.
Lanette glad Fairy is better.
Lisa sorry for your vertigo. Hope the Gatorade helps. Yay for writing!
Heather Yay for a new cupboard! The right piece is so satisfying. I have a perfect rug that makes me smile.
Rita Yay for a good doctor visit! And glad Lucy is getting better in the car. Good for you for doing the work to calm her down.
Carol sorry about your pain. Let us know what the MRI says.
Michele Elmo is cute! Good luck negotiating meals. It may take some trial and error to find a schedule that works. But if there's no police and no hospitals, then it's all okay in the end.
Pip I'm sure Ethel will get used to her bath.
Barbie Yay for the hot dog! Exactly what you wanted!
Allie take care of yourself!
Machka glad your week improved.
Margaret it must be frustrating to be so careful of your health then get smoke! Sounds like you are taking good measures.
Rosemarie I tried to avoid people food for my little Teddy. At fifteen pounds, his belly was tiny. I did give him chicken and rice sometimes. And my parents gave him popcorn which he loved dearly but I was afraid it would stick in his teeth.
We went out for pancakes today for Dad's 91st birthday. Yay! He is doing so well for his age. Everything but hearing and dementia.
May you all have a fantastic day! May you be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

Good day to all.
Well, Iβm up a couple of pounds since returning from my trip. I managed to stay stable on the trip. Iβm just sort of tired of counting everything.
Iβve been reading along. Everyone seems busy. Iβm still trying to find a routine with the mister home all the time.
Cats in vehiclesβI used to take my cats on rides. They got used to being in the car. It was helpful when I needed to take them places or move them across the country, which I did twice. I donβt think an RV would be much of a problem.
Thanks, Lisa. I am still antsy to be anywhere but here. I used to travel for work and loved being able to see new places. I get bored quickly with routines, which why Iβm struggling right now. Iβm hoping to find a short road trip location soon.
on another note, last weekend the went diving for the first time since his accident. He did ok, but is having some inflammation around where we think is a bursa on the knee. Otherwise, heβs hiking, walking and soon we will try biking. A lot of his hesitancy is psychological, so we are working on that too.Money savingβI know I spend on some luxuries, but I also find some of them necessary for my health. I am not a shopper and Iβm pretty frugal. We eat out rarely, and the mister pays. I cook at home mostly, but sometimes I want someone else to feed me and clean up. making 3 meals a day, every day is exhausting. Mostly the clean up bugs me.
I do get pedicures and massages. I find them necessary for overall health. I am active and exercise a lot, and caring for my body is mandatory. I have spread out the timing on them, however.
We did get tsunami warnings, but we didnβt get water. We also live on a canyon, which my friend called βa large drainage ditchβ behind our house.Anyway, thatβs a book. Sorry for the ramble.

Michelle ⦠you are not a short order cook⦠your daughter and her husband can and should provide their own meals or ask if they can join you for dinner and then contribute to the cost.
Carol β¦ my husband had his MRI for his back yesterday and we're now waiting on the results.
My doctor's appointment went very well except I'm still showing some signs of dehydration so I need to get very serious about drinking water. I used to be very good at this, but have been struggling the last year or so. Something freaks me out with both single use and reusable water bottles. I like a glass with ice which is ok for home but not when out and about. I'll figure it out.
Beth near Buffalo where it has been lightly raining all day and the temperatures have dropped. A much needed respite from the heat.

good to hear you were released from the cancer doc. Hope your DH gets positive news from the MRI.
I take a reusable bottle with me nearly everywhere. it helps.
I also think J&C can figure out their own meals, Michele. And who knows, maybe itβll all sort itself out organically.Tina in CA

July 31! How the heck did that happen?!?
Annie I would freeze at least half that birthday cakeβ¦ ββ¦if there's no police and no hospitals, then it's all okay in the end.β Truth this!
Debbie the mapo tofu sounds way betther than the Maypo tofu image I had in my head.
Lanette we had the warning, then downgraded to watch, then advisory. Big waves cleared out some kelp debris on the beaches but no damage thank goodness. Weβre safe at 600 ft above sea level, but those big tidal waves can take out the bridges that are crucial to our survival. Crescent Cityβs dock was damaged this time, but no casualties, thank goodness. ββ¦ harbor was destroyed and one man died in a 2011 tsunami, and in 1964, a tsunami killed 11 people...β from LA Times.. Joeβs sleep pattern has been like this before, when he worked graveyard. Seems like since we moved there heβs gradually been reverting to that pattern.
Allie thankful Seanβs injuries were no worse.
Mo I envy your gas prices. At our Freddieβs (Kroger) cas is around 3.87/gal so takes almost $40 to fill my tank. Still grateful we donβt live 35 miles south where its at least a dollar more a gallonβ¦
Lisa when will Kels et al be transferred to Illinois? Vertigo? Oh no! Love the saltire pillow.
Carol, praying the MRI shows something simple and easy to fix permanently. How long will you have to wait? ((hugs))
Rita hooray for good news from kidney doc! You are doing great with Lucy and the car. Well done!
Michele maybe aim for one family dinner a week, like Sunday? Then let Jess and Colby buy/prepare/eat and cleanup after their own meals on their own β¦ like Carol, Flea, Barbie, Lisa and Beth said. Lanetteβs and Machkaβs suggestions to talk it out now are spot on.
Barbie so glad you ventured out of your comfort zone only far enough to have a good time ;}
Tina does your canyon ever flash flood?
Beth prayers for your DHβs helpful MRI results. I used to have a glass waterbottle that Iβd take with me everywhere. It was heavy and a pain but I liked it βtil I broke itβ¦ ;{
Itβs true people food is generally not good for dogs (too sweet, too salty, too fatty). BUT. When I confessed to Dr. Koob (the best vet ever really miss him) that Joe gave the dogs some of whatever he ate, he reassured me that the bonding was worth the risk.

I went out with Allan, for a very short time, when he was starting dating again after the death of his beloved wife. We hit it off and flared quickly, but he already knew the woman who was to become his second wife, and said I gave him the courage to give it a try with her. I was mildly put out, but glad he had met the second love of his life. I still have an ansaphone tape with his voice on it. He was a genius.
It hits you harder than you realise. Death. He wasn't one of my great loves, but he was a love, for a short while.

my mother in law used to feed her dog so much people food.
At least half of what was on her plate was given to the dog, no mater what it was.
His food she would rehydrate his kibble but add canned food(both fine)BUT top with a few slices of cooked bacon, grated cheese and add chicken boulion to it.
He lost 5 lbs in a few months after she went into the home and I started feeding him- still rehydrated his food and after he ate that, he got a small amount of canned food. I also walked him twice a day until son moved in over there and now they are taking care of Kobe.4 -
And a 2+ hour nap later, feeling a bit better. Egg won't leave me be, though, so I'm probably not quite right yet. She reminds me to stay near vertical surfaces and horizontal surfaces where I can steady my balance.
Of course, then she winds in between my legs and tries to trip me, but she's still a cat, after all. πΉπββ¬πΌ
Heather - I can't imagine what kind of problem John has if an Epley makes him scream, even an assisted one. Bless his heart for doing it at all! Mine just makes me exceedingly nauseous and swimmy during the three to four minutes that it takes, especially the initial move, and is totally exhausting. For about 15 minutes afterward, I sweat like I've been running for miles. If it didn't work, I'd avoid it like the plague. Sorry about your old love's passing.
Time to get hydrated a bit more. Then we're going to do something we haven't done in years and get a pizza. Corey drives right by a Domino's on the way home, and they've got $6.99 each for two pizzas right now. I always get jalapenos on his, which I won't eat. He'll eat mine, but not vice versa. Gives him something to take for lunches for two or three days next week as well.
Time to go chill out some more. Still a bit wobbly. Hope this passes soon.
Later y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR6 -
I have a reusable water bottle that goes with me all the time too. Even take it to aqua zumba- get thirsty during the work out.
I used to be terrible about drinking any water- just drank tea. There is something about this water bottle that I really like. I even take it when I go to bed-put it on the head board. Get thirsty often at night. When ever I wake up during the night, get up, go pee, go back to bed and drink more water.3 -
Hello Everyone;
I am going to take a nap soon, even though I was put to sleep for the EGD. I agree with Barbie and Carol, Rose doesn't beg, and now she is begging. I now ignore her, and I fed her Kibble, and she is doing much better. I don't know what I was thinking. Rose is getting chunky, too. When I didn't give in to her, she ate her food.
The exam showed that I was fine and everything was normal. I was going to take some Amazon returns today, but I am not allowed to drive. So after my nap, I will wash my clothes and work out.
Machka, bees are awesome and needed for our environment. I got stung one time when I was 8, when we were outside for inspection. I touched him because someone told me he was there. I just let them do their own thing outside. I save dragonflies when they get stuck on my patio. I save birds, too. Wasps are just vicious.
Lisa, I love the Phoebe run π. It would be fun to sit with you and re-learn how to crochet. I would love to learn how to do the squares, especially. I could make blankets for the babies in the NICU and hats.
Heather, I am so happy that your friend G was able to get to where she needed to be and repair her relationship with her family. I pray for her good health.
Allie, wow, another grandchild! Congrats to you all. Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of water, and eat well.
Rose is right behind my desk chair; she is afraid that I will leave again. I will chat again soon. Until then, stay safe.
Xo,
Mo in Mississippi

There was no screaming or trembling or neck supports required when the physiotherapist did the Epley on my husband. It's a very slow gentle process.

Regarding son feeling closed in, I am not worried about that. He has always been a social butterfly. When he was 4, I used to tell people at our nudist resort that he put the conversation in the conversation pool, (salt based hot tub that was crescent shaped with the tiles making a bench seat on both sides, could hold 20+ people). He would talk about the Greek and Roman era and people would mouth to me "how old IS he"? Lol. When he was a toddler he decided he needed to hug everyone. He would look at someone and whisper to me, " I think she needs a hug". I would kind of gage the situation and say something like, "have you gotten your daily hug today? My son wishes to hug you"! He was so sweet and it was mostly old ladies he did that to, and
they'd be teary eyed. So he naturally seeks out social interaction, its just his personality. Some old photos of him.π
