John went for a long walk this afternoon, from the Marina, along the undercliff. He took lots of fabulous photos, but I wanted to share a couple with you. First, a part of the Marina.
Second, the famous private boarding school for girls, Roedean. Edie goes there to swim occasionally, and I played netball against them when I was 12 yrs old, up on the cold and windy cliffs. I thought they were very 'posh'.
Note the blue, blue sky!

Rebecca - sending big hugs about your youngest. You must feel for him.😥
I've been sorting out with John arrangements for tomorrow - food etc. The buffet at the pub we are meeting in sounds like something from the sixties! 🤔 I can't quite believe it! So John is going to make a nice, comforting, cauliflower cheese, for when I get home. I know I won't feel like cooking.
I hope I sleep tonight. I do get nervous about these things. And the less you go out, the less you want to go out. I know it will be absolutely fine. 🤞

😀😎 I am delighted to report that it sort of dried up enough today for me to try the lawn mower and I was successful. Now that I know how to use it and the weather is getting warmer, I'll be able to keep the grass low in the yard. Learning something new is always exciting.

Thanks for the new thread, Barbie
Heather: Hope the reunion goes/went well
Kay: 🙏 🙏 🙏 for whatever it is.
Rebecca: good wishes for your youngest.
Craft this morning was good. My friend, M, got her arm cast replaced with a removable splint, but she can’t drive for another 5 weeks. All because she tripped on a mat. Thank goodness I removed all my mats years ago.🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.

thank you all for the prayers. We can use all we can get. I will put the news in a spoiler if I can figure it out.
My sister-in-law is very, very ill. Stage 4 cirrhosis. She is 46. She is currently in ICU in a medically induced coma to help her through the hardest part of being in the hospital. IFKYK. I’ve been doing a lot of chauffeuring my niece and my mother back and forth from the hospital and baby-sitting my niece’s 6-month old so that she can spend as much time as possible with her mother. It’s taking a toll, but it’s all I can do. There will be time to get back to my routine later. I did make my workout this morning and was only 10 minutes late for my accountability group Zoom, so I’m trying to keep up my habits.
yay! I did the spoiler on my tablet. I may become a techie yet.

Thank you Barbie for April!
We got hail, rain, and high winds. No damage, just a few tense minutes. Tornado about 3 miles away, just minor one. Eyes to the sky tomorrow night again.
I ended March better than February in exercising. Step average up from 10k to 10,500. Exercised 25 days (same) but averaged 43 mins per day exercising which was 8 minutes more than February average. Not sure why protein and water are so flipping hard, but still trying! Need those to stay away from sugar.
Sleep calling!
Spring is full throttlecat work.
Prayers for families and friends.
Hugs for any feeling the need.
Grateful for each of you!

Hello My Peeps;
Barbie, thank you for bringing us into April.
I am exhausted. Like Barbie's Annie, my Rose loves to go everywhere with me. So we had a busy afternoon. That is when I started my day. I woke at 3:00 am, showered, brushed my teeth, and felt tired. Then I realized it was three in the morning. I just happened to look at my phone. So I put on a fresh gown and let Rose out. Then, I ate breakfast and went back to bed. I woke up, and it was 2:45 pm. So, half of my plans were postponed. I got to the laundromat to wash my comforters. Then we went to the car dealership to make plans to bring my car in at 7 am. Then, I took Rose to Petsmart to ensure everything was okay to board Rose on Thursday. Rose got to say hello to her friends. Then we jumped back into the car to check on my comforters. They were done. So I put them in the dryer and set my timer. Then we went to Kroger to pick up necessities for DH and more dog food for Rose. By the time we got home, it was after 7. Rose refused to get out of the car. So, I unloaded the trunk and put away the groceries. I brought both comforters upstairs. Then Rose was ready to leave the car.
My stretch was difficult. I got my 9-month-old baby again. I love him, and my heart goes out to his mom. I try to be supportive of her, and I wish I could be an adoptive grandma for him(mom's mother died of cancer.) So, she has no support system. Dad comes and goes. If I weren't moving, I would adopt them. All I can do is be supportive. He smiled the biggest smile when I put "Miss Rachel" on his iPad. Then I put Disney lullabies on for him to sleep. I had another baby that only loved his GG, so he was easy. The hardest was my 15-year-old; I got shot by my mom's gun accidentally going off. So now he has paraplegia.
To add insult to injury, he has multiple bedsores, is malnourished, and has one sore; I literally can see his hip bone or trochanter. The others are pretty deep, and I had to do wet-to-dry dressings on all of them. He is fearful of everything and doesn't want to get fat. He needs nutrition to heal. They are taking him to surgery and putting an NG tube in to feed him. Mom was reported for neglect. Mom says she was depressed and didn't realize he was that bad. (He has 24 wounds). I want to say this is the worst, but I did take care of adults at the beginning of my career as a Student nurse worker.
I don't remember taking care of an adult with so many bedsores. I had never seen a pediatric case this bad. It is vacation time, and I will be on a plane Friday morning at 5 am. DH is coming home tomorrow at noon. I am so ready, but I may check on my patients tomorrow before I go. My other patient went home, and the mom wanted me to adopt her. The little girl her brother shot was back, and she hugged me and was happy. Her foster parents/ aunt wants to adopt her, and they are one happy family. She is going back to surgery. I was so excited to see her doing well. Her foster mom is an RN, so she is in good hands. This foster mom tried to get pregnant for 7 years, and now she has her. That warms my heart. As usual, I am afraid to get on the scale. Last week, I was down five more pounds, so hopefully, it will move again. I am afraid because I haven't been able to do step aerobics. When I get back, I may need to look into getting the second orthotic and a reference to see my PT person, Rachel. I am considering a cane; that is how bad it is. Yet, at work, I am fine cause I do not sit. I am constantly in motion. My exercise ring and movement ring closed each night. Sitting is what brings on the pain.
My goals for April are the following:
Food Journal
Exercise
Do a craft
Declutter
Finances
Debbie, thanks for posting the pictures of the wetlands; they are beautiful. At the condo in Florida, there are swans and ducks that we all love to feed. I may buy and pack some food for them.
Rebecca, I hope you get to see your baby boy soon. When you can, can you post a picture of Whidbey Island?
Dr. Katie, I have yet to learn how to do spoilers, but I can now make bolder prints. My prayers are with you and your family during this sad period.
Barbie, good job on mowing the lawn! Stepping out of our comfort zone is tough, but you are doing it. Did Annie stay in the house?
Lisa, I'd like to see a picture of the property you're trying to buy. Have you considered becoming mayor?
Heather, I am a visual learner, and I love art. I love the cards you made for Mother's Day with Eddie. I also enjoyed the pictures of the marina.
Allie, Delia is quite flexible, putting her feet in her mouth. I love the pictures of your grands; they make my day. How are you feeling?
How is Carol doing? Does anybody know?
Kylia, I hope all is well with you. You may need a mental and physical vacation from work, which is easier said than done, I know. In your mind, you think, if you don't do it, who will? You may need to hire a temp to help you out.
Pip, you are showing them how it is done. You are way ahead! How are the pups?
Re, how are you doing with renovations?
Michelle, laundry is a never-ending chore, unfortunately. I will bring my laptop to keep up with you all.
I am worried about Annie. Does anyone live near her that can do a welfare check on her?
Well, I am going to bed so I can be up bright and early. (By the way, I am not a morning person.)
XO,
Mo in Mississippi

Hi All;
Thanks, Barbie - for keeping the light on for us in April.
I have survived another month end - most everything got done - so, we are off to the races for Quarter 2….
I have only begun the home reno saga - first is the master bedroom suite - so I have a place to LIVE while they knock out the rest of the house. I will be eating a lot of salads and burger bowls while the whole house is being redone…. but, even if I have to go off-plan - it will be a nice pad once I am done.
I am doing inside and out - and trying to make the place as low maintenance as possible, so that I and my 72 yr old Sister can live here without killing ourselves on the daily upkeep. The original house is from 1978 - and I have lived in it as I bought it 24 years ago - so it needs EVERYTHING - from the studs out in some places. We will have new insulation and windows, plus pretty floors and new cabinets. The outside will be a lot of cement and raised planter beds - so - we will be able to garden without bending over and enjoy whatever days we can be outside in the TX weather.
Sissy's rent will pay for a housekeeper, yard service and the laundry service - so, life should be pretty doable after the place is done and she moves in.
Hugs to Dr. Katie and Barbara. I will think good thoughts for both you in the off moments between work and sleep.
Hugs to everyone else as well.
Goodnight,
Re in TX

Thank you Barbie for the fresh start!
March summary later, along with the continuing water saga, (picture me wrapped in a towel, long hair full of conditioner, trying to be calm advising Joe we were out of water AGAIN), unsettling news about BB&B, baking frenzy with black beans and donated lemons (not in the same recipes ;> )
Welcome @sfdemt32 !

Kaycee in Virginia - Welcome! Hope you're able to find us again, drop into any conversation where you're comfortable.
Kay - I'm so sorry about your sister-in-law.
Mo - Hope your vacation is just fine. Try not to fret too much over your patients and just take time off, my friend. Regarding the house, don't want to share a picture of the front, as it's Google Maps searchable, but this is the kitchen:
No, I did not have enough guts to open that refrigerator. Ain't it purty? One of the many reasons we're hoping to either tear it down or just hand it to the fire department and tell them to have at it.
Still waiting on a piece of paper we need from the city before we move forward.
Below is a picture of the back corner - the trash pile nearest the picture was lit on fire by the 5-year old boy child of the last occupants and melted the siding along the corner of the house:
I'm pretty sure if you're on a computer and select either picture, it will open up a full-size picture in a new tab. Not sure that will work on a phone or tablet, though. Would depend whether you're on a browser or on the app, I guess.
Anyway… I've been up since 1 a.m., and it's now nearly 2:30 my time, but I think I'll be able to finally go back to sleep here shortly.
Woke up thinking about you, Allie. Please be careful - hitting your brakes in the car too fast or picking up something heavy could set your recovery right back to day one. Hope all's well.
Love y'all,

😀 Mo Annie stayed outside with me while I mowed. The door was open so she could have gone back into the house if she wanted to. The battery powered mower is much quieter than conventional mowers and quieter than the vacuum (she barks at the vacuum) so she was curious but not upset. When I pull weeds, she thinks it's a good time to dig so when I'm finished pulling weeds, I have to get the broom and sweep the dirt she dug back into the hole.
😀 Machka Super coloring.

Adding to the Rita jokes…
Why do pine trees have such a hard time sewing?
Because they always drop their needles.

Good morning ladies!
Yesterday I had PT at 7 am. Nice therapist and we had fun! Kinda sore today but not as bad as a week ago. Did some sideways walking with bands encircling my calves to strengthen legs and hips. I can do this in my house and go up and down my hallway, plus I see hip exercises on YouTube. Dry needling is scheduled for next Monday. I think I napped on and off most of the day yesterday.
Kay - so, so sorry to hear about your SIL. What happens to her from here? Do they expect a recovery? Liver transplant? I'm sure your assistance in transporting and babysitting is a Godsend to your family.
Barbie - good job with the mower. Isn't it fun? I love my little battery operated mower even though I only use it to trim hard-to-get-into spots where the big mower can't reach. DH had a gas powered weed eater and blower - they are in the "give away" corner of the shop. I get along fine with my little battery operated tools. If I had a smaller yard I'd look into getting a battery operated riding mower, I think they make them.
Allie - glad you are making progress getting the staples and stents out. And that you have a nurse stopping by. Best of luck with your banking issue.
Lisa - that druggie house looks like a big undertaking. Burning looks like a good solution.
Re - I love hearing about your remodel plans and that your sis will be able to live with you. That's a great plan.
Rebecca - Am I remembering correctly that youngest son will be state-side (or maybe already is) and will be evaluated? Hope he's doing much better.
Mo - you must have been exhausted to sleep until mid-afternoon. Heartwarming to hear that the foster mom wants to adopt the little girl who'd been shot. Have a great time on your vacation!
Kylia - glad you weren't hit by the tornado.
I see there's now a flood warning for Tennessee, Arkansas, southern Indiana and Ohio and that area toward the end of the week. And tornado watch today for Lisa's area and probably others of you.
Meeting a friend for brunch at 9 this morning. That's a little over an hour away and I'm getting hungry. Had several cups of "milky coffee" (Re got me on that kick, lol. I'm just adding milk, not protein powder but it hits the spot until I can have a later breakfast.)
Need to wrap this up. Stay safe, ladies!

pups are living the life. Kirby is starting to countdown the days til I go on the cruise with my friend. It will be nice. I still will keep track of my miles. Thank goodness that my walking miles count toward the total, we plan on doing a lot of miles and I plan on going to the gym every morning while on ethe ship.

Lanette, depending on her condition when/if she wakes up from the coma, she will either go home on hospice or go straight to comfort care in the hospital or a nursing home. I feel like she will drink again if she goes home, which would make her ineligible for a liver transplant. My brother is leaning toward the nursing home option if he can figure out how to pay for it. It’s a sad situation but, honestly, it has been for quite some time. You can’t help someone who refuses to help themselves. My mother is already telling me I will need to do her funeral, and I dread it. What on earth will I say?
Lanette, my reply to you is in the spoiler. I was going to put one snarky comment in a spoiler and it put the whole darn thing in there! I do not like this new format when typing on my tablet. I feel very successful that I have managed to bold your name, not just pnce, but twice!
My orthopedist dismissed me this morning. I walked up and back down two flights of stairs just to see if I could at his office complex. I did it, one foot per stair, if you know what I mean. I’m feeling healed, and my regular morning workouts are making me more flexible. Now, if I could just make myself log my food.8 -
Oouuff!!!!
I made it through!
Actually, it was all very pleasant, but my SQ is very low, so I exited the group before anyone else, and got an Uber home. If I had wanted to stay on, I could have got a lift back, but I felt I had done my bit.
There will be a photo of the whole group arriving by email soon. Here is one of me at lunch.
P was also at our table, but she took the photo. 19 of us turned up, and I managed to arrange with the friend I wanted to see to meet soon up in London. I really will do it.
I chatted to quite a few people, including one old friend who is now crippled with arthritis and a carer for her husband who has arthritis and Alzheimers.
So, it's done. And John has prepared me a lovely cauliflower cheese for tonight. I didn't eat much there, as the food was just boring. The sort of thing my grandparents would have served up!
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx
