  • I previously lost 40kg, which wasn't easy. I almost reached my goal weight when I hit a plateau. I maintained my weight for maybe a year and then I started developing chest pain (non-cardiac). I then sprained my ankle but the pain never went away. Long story short, I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, because I now have…
  • BMI is not a percentage. It's just a number which indicates your body mass and how this rates according to how you should be at your height.
  • That's BS. You will know if you can't digest dairy because you will get symptoms such as bloating, cramps, diarrhea. Some people are lactose intolerant but not everybody!
  • The only person who can truly answer that is you. You need to listen to your body and gauge how it feels the next day. If you can hardly move because your muscles are so sore - you've pushed yourself too far. If you feel ok then its fine. But it is generally recommended to get some form of exercise about 5 days a week. You…
  • Hello Dragon Spark! I'm a bit like you. I lost the weight, then got depressed - gained half of it back - now I'm starting over again, while battling chronic pain and other things. Add me and we'll get through this together!
  • I'm on Lyrica/pregabalin and Cymbalta/duloxetine - I definitely think they've contributed to my recent weight gain and increased appetite.
  • Go to your doctor and see a dietician to work it out. Start a food diary that notes what you've eaten and what bloats you. I used to have this problem - went to a dietician, did a couple of hydrogen/methane breath tests, and discovered that I have fructose and lactose intolerance. So now I actually follow the "low FODMAP…
  • Nope! I don't care either! It's not like they can see your actual nickers! The thought of going commando frightens me!
  • I need more buddies too! I'll add you :)
  • I pray these "magic" pills do not harm your health in the long run. As for me, I believe that eating healthy and exercising has been working in the last 2 years. I can see the results in my body and my medical statistics. I have hit bumps in the journey, like everybody else. The help and support of like minded people ,…
  • How do you post a pic? I don't seem to have that option (that I can see).
  • You're hubby is right though. If you are going to be able to face your problems and find ways of coping, you need to first acknowledge who you are, what you are feeling, and that it's ok. Be kind to yourself. I'm glad you feel proud for the things you achieve - build on that, and do some small things that you can cope with.
  • I can understand how you feel. My fiance is fine about it - very supportive, so i know I can talk to him about my pain. My friends and colleagues though - I feel guilty and ashamed if I mention the pain, because I feel like they're sick of hearing about it, and aren't going to offer any advice. There's a group on facebook…
  • I've had a couple of cortisone injections into my ankle. They first injected some local anaesthetic, which helped ease the sharp sting of the actual injection. It was painful, but you do get relief very soon afterwards. You actually have some relief for several hours immediately, just from the local anaesthetic. Not sure…
  • That's really awful, I can't believe they laughed at you like that. How cruel. I'm glad you stood up for yourself - I probably would've just cried!
  • The problem with me is that it was just a minor acute ankle sprain. The pain just never went away. I haven't injured again since then. I had an arthroscopy which basically was fine except for a little cyst, which I had drained, and they removed the little Os trigonum bone which can impinge on nerves. None of that helped,…
  • Thanks for that. I probably do compare myself to others, and even compare myself to the person I used to be. What is demotivating me is the pain I get from exercising, as well as the flare-ups I get afterwards. My pain has been much worse in general since I started exercising again. I hope that by starting gentle (like…
  • Turns out I was low in Vitamin D and that was the only thing wrong in my bloods (not a surprise, as I live in Melbourne, Australia). I brought my levels back up to normal, but that didn't help my pain. I still maintain it though and take Vit D every day.
  • I guess I need to get out my old mind set, which is to push myself and challenge myself to get results. I suppose as long as I'm doing some exercise that makes me feel good, that's the main thing. Anything is better than nothing.
  • Hi. I've started taking pregabalin again (which I stopped because of the cost), so I'm waiting for that to kick in. I have horrible sleeping habits because I'm a shift worker. So I can never get into a good routine. When I have limited sleep, I know that my pain will be really bad the next day. Not sure what to do about…
  • Already edited it, thanks. What I meant was - fat would be converted to glucose, then glucose would be stored as glycogen (not fat directly to glycogen). Came out wrong.
  • You're welcome. Just wanted to answer the question and not get involved in BS!
  • If you were going to eat nothing but highly fatty foods to the value of 2000 calories, you'd be pretty damn hungry for starters, because food of that quality is usually lower in fibre and protein, and denser in calories. So you'd be eating less meals. Secondly, if you had that much fat in your diet on a daily basis and…
  • I always eat the extra calories to an extent. I have my pre-workout nutrition, and my post-workout nutrition - and I factor that in as my extra calories.
  • How much exercise you do depends on your goals (weight loss, building muscle, maintenance etc). When you log your exercise it will give your extra calories that you can have for that day (I usually eat some of it back when I have my post workout nutrition). Make sure you complete the goals section thoroughly to work out…
  • Yay same birthday! :)
  • I share my birthday with Lucy Liu, Britney Spears, and Nelly Furtado. It is also the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery. December 2
  • That's why it's important to check how many calories your food is worth before eating it. Planning ahead is a great idea.
  • My reward will be looking and feeling my slimmest and healthiest when I get married in January. I want to be the best I can be on the happiest day of my life, and set my self up for a healthy future!
