  • Hello from Dubai! I signed up to UAC once before and failed to log a single day so at least I know I can't do any worse this time round :D I reactivated my MFP account a few weeks ago and have been consistent with working out but my food choices and logging have been pretty hit and miss, so I'm hoping participating in UAC…
  • Congrats on the 20lbs so far! I'm 41, started again just a few weeks ago after a year's hiatus. Feel free to add me
  • Yep, that pretty much describes me and my goal! Feel free to add me
  • Hey everyone, just finished W6D3 and I really had to push myself to finish. How did you all get through W7?! I trust the plan (it's got me this far!) but I'm a bit daunted by 3 long runs a week from now on, especially as I struggled a bit today. How did you all find the transition to long runs?

  • I recently turned 40, feel free to add me!
  • Can I just say you seem to have a great approach and mindset. The fact that you don't deny yourself anything but just make sure it fits in with your plan, and that you recognise the difference between emotional eating and real hunger, is something so many people can't (won't?) grasp so you're already ahead of the game.…
  • I used to do it manually - calculate speed based on time and distance running/walking and log minutes run/walked separately. Now I have an HRM I've just added C25k as a cardio exercise and then I note time and calorie burn from my HRM. Soooo much easier :)
  • Maybe not the worst ever but I saw these fairly recently wouldn't watch them again. Rich Man's Wife - I didn't even finish this. How fupping STUPID is Halle Berry's character? The Tourist - Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. What's happened to you? Quills - maybe a good movie but I just found it really disturbing and it made me…
  • Workout B1 done. I would just like to say, my *kitten* hurts! How's everyone else getting on?
  • Workout 1 done, woot! I had to use dumbbells for the squats as I have no idea of the correct way to lift the barbell into position on my shoulders without a rack. Must research that for next time. Also, my knees felt like they were going to give way during the squats and I wasn't using heavy weights. Don't know if…
  • I'm using a gym - working out at home is a nightmare with no spare space and 2 dogs and a cat all wanting in on the act  One of my MFP friends emailed me some spreadsheets - not sure if that's where she got them from but they're very helpful. She's also starting today as we both agreed we wanted someone to work out…
  • Hi Jaz, I'm starting today too :) Although I have to confess, I actually did the first workout a couple of weeks ago but haven't done anything since so am taking this opportunity to start afresh in September. I'm pretty new to all this heavy lifting minimal cardio thing. How about you?
  • It's so nice to meet people in the same part of the world! I'm Sarah, originally from the UK but have lived in the UAE for 22 years - first 2 years in Abu Dhabi and the rest in Dubai. I came out here with my parents and brothers when my dad got a job. We're all still here and my dad is still in the same job! I've slowly…
  • I'm off to the gym today, the first exercise I'll have done in months. I plan to exercise 3 or 4 days a week - 3 days I'll be doing NROL4W and running training (I want to run my first ever 5k race in November). If I have any energy left I'll throw in another activity, e.g. yoga, swimming, tennis, Zumba once a week. Plus…

  • Hi everyone, after much lurking here I finally got around to ordering NROL4W and my copy arrived last week. Have read through most of it and will be doing my first workout today. Excited but slightly intimidated at the same time! I've calculated that if I do the programme exactly as per the book I'll finish just a few days…
  • Congrats on the weight loss, Tal! Whereabouts in the Gulf are you? I'm in Dubai, feel free to add me :)
  • *Takes deep breath* OK, I'm in
  • I'm with you Lu! Wine and cheese are my two favourite food groups and have become a daily necessity, explains a lot about how I look and feel. I wouldn't worry too much if it fit within my calories but I can happily finish a bottle in one sitting which happens far too frequently for my liking. I don't even want to think…
  • Hi everyone, I'm Sarah. I've done 5:2 before with some success before 'stuff' happened and I gained a lot more weight than I had lost in those few weeks. But I thoroughly enjoy the lifestyle and I find it relatively easy to manage as long as I'm organised. I have a total of about 40lbs to lose, although to me it's more…
  • Wow, FANTASTIC loss Gina, well done! Good luck with the challenge, I know it can be difficult but just keep in mind what you've achieved in just a few short weeks and where you might be in just a few weeks from now
  • I was 9 or 10 when I went on my first school trip to France. My first time abroad without 'adult supervision' was to Sri Lanka when I was 24. That's quite sad actually! I grew up in the UK so could have travelled fairly easily to other countries in Europe but didn't. Now I live in the Middle East, it's not so easy (i.e.…
  • About 6 months, I eat them once a year at Christmas. It never occurred to me that you could eat them throughout the rest of the year too, surely that would be weird, like eating mince pies in July or Easter eggs in November? Mind you, I'm quite liking the idea of sprouts and bacon... mmmmm, bacon.
  • Congrats on your loss so far! Have sent a friend request. I hit the big four-oh in Feb next year and definitely want to be looking fit and fabulous rather than fat and frumpy :)

  • You look FANTASTIC!! What a great achievement in 3 months. I'm a similar shape as your before pics and particularly squidgy around my middle - would loooooove to look like your after pics in 3 months. You've obviously been very committed to your plan, what exactly did you do?
  • I'm doing it! Don't know what to expect but I'm hoping for good things :)
  • These are all people I've met or names I've encountered through work. Dr Blood (dentist) Dr Stiff (GP) Sillitoe Warmholz Also Ophelia Toogood - the name of a delegate on a training course, not sure if it was a joke or not but that's the name she wanted on her certificate!
  • I've just found a whole load of recipes for "green smoothies" - they're made with green veggies like spinach and celery which are very good for you but taste vile (to me anyway!). But by adding a banana and some peanut butter, or an apple and some cinnamon, you can't taste the veggies at all - just the fruit. Might be a…
  • I've been ill since new year's eve which was great for the first week of the year as I completely lost my appetite and dropped 5lbs. Unfortunately this week I was still too ill to exercise but my appetite came back so I gained 1lb :( Ah well, hopefully by Tues/Wed I'll be well enough to start exercising again and can…
