  • I was looking for new Fitbit friends as well to do the weekly challenges with. I’ll look you up.
  • Love this!! Well said.
  • I cut cardio just because I usually only have an hour to an hour and a half to work out so if I do more weights, I have less time for cardio.
  • I've only gotten one pervy PM on here. It was also my first pervy PM from a woman.
  • I actually found that eating the same thing Monday through Friday helped me a lot with my weight and fitness goals as well as meal planning and food budgeting. From time to time I have to adjust my routine for unusual things, but otherwise, I love it! I never realized how much time I wasted just figuring out what to have…
  • I'm 41. It took me a year and a half to lose 88 pounds. I gained back some of the weight last year and am now working to get back to my goal weight by March. It is definitely doable and feels great to accomplish. Good luck on your journey and feel free to add me.
  • Ditto here. Found out what my body composition was (lean muscle versus fat) and am aiming for a body fat percentage of 20-25%. Whatever my weight or size is doesn't matter as long as my body fat percentage is in the healthy range.
  • Depends on what works for you. When I have those bad days I used to just stop logging the moment I went over just so I wouldn't see the damage and some days I just didn't log anything at all. This year now I'm making it a goal to log everything so I can see the damage.
  • I just keep track of all that stuff on the MFP app and I have an app from Bodybuilding.com if I need to look up any exercises.
  • I've noticed that if I do a light workout of the sore muscles the next day, it helps the pain go away faster.
  • I was worried I would lose mine, but went from a 42H to a 34F so not too bad. They definitely droop more than before and aren't as round, but not too bad. A friend got a boob lift but I'm torn as to whether or not I'd want to do that.
  • I say go by what MFP says and maintain it for a month to see what happens. If you lose weight, great, you are on track. If you gain, go 100-200 calories lower. That's how I started. I just set my activity level to sedentary and would exercise to earn more calories if I wanted to eat more.
  • Agreeing with the others. A calories limit of 1400-1600 may work better for you. I'm the same height and weight as you and that's my calorie range. I also eat back some of my exercise calories depending on how hungry I'm feeling as I've noticed that sometimes after heavy weight days I'm hungrier than normal so I compensate…
  • I'm 5'5" and I know 136 is in the normal range for weight so I'm confused about why you are trying to lose more. It sounds like you are at a healthy weight for your size and it's likely your body just doesn't have anything more to lose which is why you aren't seeing a change. If you aren't happy with how your body looks,…
  • After losing a bunch of weight I get a lot of ignorant comments from people who think losing weight means never, ever, ever eating any "unhealthy" foods. I eat a cookie or a piece of candy and it's "You're gonna get fat!" From one piece? Hardly. I tell someone I lost weight eating the foods I like including pizza and…
  • I had my RMR (resting metabolic rate) measured at a health center. Now I know that my body naturally burns about 1656 calories a day if I just sit and watch TV all day so I try to eat between 1400-1600 calories a day if I don't exercise and when I do work, I try not to eat more than half my exercise calories though after…
  • It is possible to lose weight without exercising. (Lost my first 30 pounds just eating less.) Your body naturally burns a certain number of calories each day so as long as you eat a couple hundred below that amount then you can lose weight. For example, I had my RMR measured by a doctor and if I sit in front of the TV all…
  • I would love to adopt a newbie. I started with MFP back in 2011. Previously I'd try working out, lose 20-30 pounds and then stop seeing progress so I'd workout harder, injure myself and have to stop working out and then get so frustrated that I'd eat more junk food and gain back the weight I'd lost and then some. I finally…
  • The hard thing is motivation comes from within so until you find something that is important to you, you won't have it. My motivation had nothing to do with losing weight or getting healthy. I used to be on anti-depressants which didn't make me feel good at all. My therapist wanted me to be around people so I would go to…
  • Good luck! I'm getting closer. At one point I was only 12 pounds away thanks to MFP and my awesome gym, but lost motivation for a while. Now I'm back on track and so excited to reach my goal! Congrats on signing up here. You've already made a step in the right direction. Here's some insight into what to expect:…
  • Agree with the above. I spend $50-70 a week on food and I'm able to pay all my bills. As long as you're paying for it with your income and can pay the rest of your bills, then there's no reason for him to complain.
  • You have had a lot of high sodium days so you could be retaining water. I know when I go over on my sodium, I have been known to retain up to eight extra pounds of water, but when I keep it low, that sheds over the week so that could be part of it. You've also had days where you go over your limit so that could be slowing…
  • I am not terribly obsessed with being super precise when counting. For me, just the fact that I'm paying attention is more than enough. I realize that the counts on here may not be right on, but I refuse to get so obsessive with it. Trying to get into shape is stressful enough. I've done great with it. I do little things…
  • My first go around, it took me a year and a half to lose 88 pounds (about 1 pound per week on average). Now that I'm relosing the weight I gained back, I'm making it a goal to lose 1-2 pounds a week. Anything more is just bonus and I'm good with that. Losing slowly was healthy and reduced the amount of saggy skin I had…
  • My sister had that happen. She lost enough weight that she didn't have enough fat stores so her periods became infrequent. She was fine, just had to start taking the pill to help regulate her system.
  • Kudos to you for signing up. This app has helped me so much. My first piece of advice is that this has to be a lifestyle change. It's not a "I'll just hit my goal weight and be done with it". Whatever you do to lose weight needs to be something you can continue with to maintain it. Otherwise you'll just gain it all back.…
  • Sounds like you are off to a good start already. Weight loss is 80% what you eat so focus on your intake - what and how much you are eating. You can lose a lot of weight just doing that without exercising. Exercise itself helps you burn off a few of those calories you've eaten, but the bigger effect is how it changes the…
  • Strangely it wasn't weight related at all. I'd gotten really depressed and was put on medication that just made me feel worse. I had to take a medical leave from work, but my therapist didn't want me home alone so I started going to a gym near my apartment because it was the only place I could think of where I would be…
  • I made it through Bootcamp class. Was dying at the end, but didn't quit. The instructor praised me after class for getting stronger since our last class.
  • First, forgive yourself. Second, try to identify what made you binge. Did you eat most of your calories in the morning and you were starving afterwards? Or are you not eating enough? Or was it an emotional reaction to something? Figuring it out can help you plan ahead next time and make it easier to deal with those urges…
