Have you tried online workouts? I like Yufit.com -- they have 12 different classes that post new workouts twice a week. Ranges from simple stretching, to core, to total body workouts.

I was born with hip dysplasia too and had a periacetabular osteotemy in my mid-20s (to prevent having to get a hip replacement in my 30s). I"m so happy I did the PAO surgery -- I'm able to run, snowboard, do everything I could do before, but without the pain. Training for my first Olympic distance triathlon this summer and…

I used to hate running too and one day it just clicked (I think previously I was pushing myself too hard and thinking I had to run a 10 minute mile, now I don't care that I'm slow I just put in the miles). My advice -- put on your iPod, run outside and just go!

Love my Lululemon (yes it's expensive but it lasts forever and their tops are super cute!). Lulu pants are also great to wear while running errands/on the weekends. I love my Sugoi knickers for running -- super comfortable. Also love Underarmor/Nike tops. I get all this stuff at Sports Basement (in the bay area,…

Yufit.com has a variety of strength/cardio/stretching classes online and they are new 2x/week.

Mine have gotten smaller (but are still not SMALL) -- cardio (running) and squats/lunges, etc. Of course a healthy diet too.

Also, if you can shut your office door for some privacy, don't hesitate to do some non-sweaty exercises like yoga/pilates! You can stream online/on-demand workouts on Yufit.com -- they have a mini yoga flow which is only 30 minutes.

Try to fit in at least a 30 minute workout before/after work (we have a gym in my building so I can often get a workout in during lunchtime). If you take a coffee break, walk to a coffeehouse little further away -- it's a nice break and you get some walking in. Make sure to be active on the weekends!

Thank you dirtbooksun! Couldn't agree more! As a physical anthropology major in college, this whole paleo diet thing drives me nuts.

I've recently become obsessed with beets :-) I bake them in aluminum foil for about 45 minutes, then the skins just peel right off. Slice thinly and let marinate for a couple hours in orange juice/lemon juice/cider vinegar (something acidic) and salt and pepper. Serve on top of arugula with some crumbled goat cheese and…

Moving Comfort Fiona -- it's a lifesaver. It has a regular hook closure back and adjustable straps. And comes in lots of colors. My only complaint is that it's not racerback so it doesn't work with some tops (well it works, it just has straps that obviously show). I think I'm going to get a Moving Comfort Juno or Rebound…

This will be my first triathlon! Can't wait! March 17: Lucky Run (7 miles) (this will be the longest I've ever run and a challenge as I don't consider myself a "runner") June 2: Tri for Fun (sprint) June 24: Livestrong Ride, Davis (assuming I'll do the 45 mile ride, but they haven't released courses yet) July 29: Goleta…

LOVE Fage with some honey or granola or fruit. Mmmm.

Love it when there was a good gym by me and I could afford it. Now I hate the gym that's close to my house and I can't rationalize spending the money. Instead, I run and cycle outside when the weather is good (when it's bad I cycle inside on a trainer). I also use Nike Training Club fitness app for circuit training and…

Mix it up! If it's nice weather, get outside and go for a run or bike ride! If you're stuck in the gym try mixing it up with some circuit training -- I like using the Nike Training Club fitness app. Or try a fitness class at your gym (or online at Yufit.com). Don't let yourself get bored because then you won't want to keep…

Any type of cardio is better than no cardio! But I agree, get on that bike! I have a trainer at home and have found it really great when I just want to pop on the bike for a bit and not commit to braving the elements/etc. Also good way to get some cardio in while watching TV. Good luck with your ride! 80 miles, wow!

Bar Method (for pilates, ballet, strength) -- if you don't live near a studio, they have DVDs Nike Fitness Club app (for circuit training) YuFit.com (for on-demand/online fitness classes like balletone, kickboxing, strength and cardio classes) Plus running and cycling outside!
-
I think it depends on whether you can afford one, whether you "click" with them and what they are having you do. I used to have a trainer and really liked working with him -- he definitely kept me accountable. However, the cost was just too much. So I switched to using the free gym in my building, running outside, cycling,…

You might want to check out Yufit.com -- they have a kickboxing class on demand and they post a new class twice a week. There's a 14-day free trial, so it doesn't hurt to check it out! (I really like their strength and cardio classes, but I know you are specifically looking for kickboxing).

Agree with the spaghetti squash recommendation. I also julienne dice zucchini and mix it in with linguine noodles so you still have the same shape, but less pasta and some added veggies! I also love adding sliced cremini mushrooms because they are filling too. For me pasta is a calorie killer so I eat is sparingly now!

I work long hours too and it's a challenge to find time for family, friends and yourself. Luckily I have a gym in my office building so I try to make a point of using that three times during the week (either before/after work or during lunchtime when it's not odd to be missing for 45min-1hour). I also agree about "bringing…

I don't consider myself a runner by any means, but there are a few things which I have found to make my running more enjoyable. I have a run belt that holds two small water bottles and has a pouch for Gu/phone/keys, etc. Also really like that it has an ID tag with contact #s in case something happens. Love my Sugoi running…

Hi I'm new on MFP too (well at least now I'm actually dedicated to doing this) -- 27 years old, started a couple of weeks ago at 187lbs , now down to 178lbs and hoping to get under 150 by February. Married, no children yet, working professional so fitting workouts in during the week has been a challenge. My goal is to do a…
