Ok, so theoretically I can lose some inches without losing weight by lifting heavy? I would love to lose a few inches off my waist. Any program suggestions? Can I do this at home with dumbbells or kettlebells? Best lifts for the waist area?
-
So would that mean I just continue to eat at maintenance and start lifting?
-
High 60's. I don't exercise much.
-
Yes! I agree and I do only use MFP for my logging as well. :)
-
I'm still confused. Ugh. Right now MFP is telling me I earned extra calories today (based on fitbit) and I now have a new goal of 1978 calories today. However, looking at my fitbit I've only burned 1914 so far (it's 8:49pm here). Why is my goal higher than I've burned if I want to have a 250 deficit? Is it just because…
-
Ok, thanks everyone! Before I kept deleting the extra calories that my FitBit was giving me on MFP but I'll try it this way. :)
-
See for me I find that by the end of the day, if I stick with just MFP calories and don't use any Fitbit adjusted calories, I'm in the yellow. I guess I'll try to stay in the green zone for a few weeks and see what happens... (Sorry just noticed this question has been asked before!)

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to buy regular dumbbells instead of adjustable. Only because I find the adjustables to be a PITA. What size dumbbells should I buy? I was thinking 8-10-15 to start but I'm not sure if that would be too light.

No one else? :(
-
Anyone else?

Thanks for the info!

This looks great! Thank you!

I pay $15/month for Fitness 19 and it's kinda crappy. My trainer told me they never clean the equipment. Um...ew. :/ I'm thinking about quitting there and joining somewhere else, but I'm not sure where yet. I know our 24hr is $50/month but it's full of annoying men. We also have a Crunch that's $70/month. The super duper…

Thanks I'll check for that. I think it's because of the short stride length on the mini elliptical. :(
-
I do sometimes have knee pain, yeah. :(
-
Thanks for the replies! It's too bad it has to be low weight/high rep. You'd think they'd have a women's heavy lifting class. I wish...
-
That's such a bummer. I wonder if I could modify with more weight and less reps. I wish there was a weight lifting for women class.
-
Can you recommend any specific videos?
-
Ok so if I use a stair master or something like that, my calves with not get bigger, correct?
-
Yeah that's the one I'm looking at. I'm debating between than and the stamina rowing machine. I want something I can do at home in front of the tv at night.
-
Sounds great! What brand is it?
-
Thanks for the replies. I asked because personally, I'd rather increase my exercise than decrease my food. But I kept hearing that 80%/20% thing...
-
Right, but people on here are always saying that you don't need to exercise to lose weight, you just need to eat less. I guess I don't get why it matters how you get a deficit as long as you have one.
-
Yes, I've just started researching rowers and they seem to be a great option. There's a cheaper one by Stamina that had really good reviews and I think may be good since I'm just starting out with it.
-
This would just be to get some extra cardio in while I'm watching TV at night. :)
-
Which one do you have? Thanks! :)
-
Did you ever get one of these? I want one but I can't decide which one to get either!
-
Thanks brb, I'll look into that! I also just discovered portable ellipticals. Has anyone tried one of those? They take up such little space!
-
Unfortunately, my current gym doesn't offer any classes! That's why it's only $15/month I guess. ;) I am thinking about getting a free day pass for 24 hour fitness to try this class. Hmm
