  • Hi everyone. I haven't posted here since I started, but I just wanted to let you all know I'm still active and reading. I was 96kgs at the start of week 1, and have lost 4.8kgs in the 4 weeks so far. I'm also into Week 4 of the C25K and just ran my first 2kms straight last Saturday! (so excited at my progress!) I've also…

  • Caitlin in Perth here! My goal is to lose 50kgs. I'm 20kgs down so far. Love to make some new friends on here so feel free to add me! I am doing Optifast under doctor's advice. I know VLCDs aren't super popular around this site, so I thought I'd lay the cards down up front! Look forward to meeting some new mates on here!…
  • So nice to see so many other people starting up on Optifast and so many still going and going strong! I am in my 10th Week now on the Australian version. Ours is a little different (as I think people have said previously). We have 3 Optifast products a day + 2 cups veg + 1 tsp of oil. I'm finding it's working really well.…
  • Am also from Perth! I have 50 to lose. Feel free to add me as I'm looking for some friends on here for mutual motivation and support :)
  • Hi there! I'm also from WA and looking to make some friends on here for mutual motivation and support :) I have 50kgs to lose so I will be here a little while. :) Best of luck to you all!
  • In Week 2 of Optifast now. Doing the Australian version. Any other Optifasters feel free to add me! I'm keen to support and share with others on the same diet :)
  • Good advice guys!! Thanks so much for your responses :)
  • Congrats on your achievements so far!
  • I feel that I could do any of the options. I'm just concerned about giving my muscles enough recovery time.
  • ^^ Robbie - Was gonna say 31 before I noticed the numbers at the end of your name.
  • It's quite warm where I live and I felt like I couldn't enjoy summer because of my weight. I can't stand to wear tank tops without a cardigan over the top to hide my arms. And my thighs chafe so much walking anywhere, that I would have to wear leggings under my skirts to stop from getting an unbearable heat rash. As a…
  • Very interesting thread. Nice posts Angenz, I think you really brought some great arguments and perspective to the discussion.
  • Also, if you're a pasta/noodle lover, have you tried Shirataki/Konyaaku noodles? I just tried them last night and was very impressed. I think they have something like 30 cals per serving, but are ALMOST as good as rice noodles. I'm not saying they're the best, but I LOVED the fact that I could cook up a massive…
  • Not sure if this is a helpful suggestion... but maybe you might have to try eating some things that WILL fill you up from smaller portions? High protein foods are the best. Try boiled eggs, lean chicken, natural yoghurt, etc. I try to eat 30% of my calories in protein and help myself to as many raw veggies as I like,…
  • Hello again! Congrats on your losses this week Brooke & Diver :) Weekly loss 0.5kg (0.45%) Total loss 5.5kg (4.78%) To goal - 39.5kg. This is the first week I've lost less than a kilo, so I can't say I'm delighted, but I'll take it!
  • Love this thread, but it did make me think that since I've been an MFP member I've seen quite a few threads like this and NO threads asking "WOMEN... what size would you want your man?" EDIT: When I say "Love this thread"... I mean I love the answers the guys have been giving!
  • I can totally relate to this thread. I was always a bigger girl. All my Iife I felt fatter and larger (I'm 170cm and taller than most girls I know) than everyone else. When I was 16 I developed an eating disorder and dropped to about 50kg, and, in hindsight, looked absolutely revolting. Then when I got better, I always…
  • Oh and I love the Guardian pharmacy Be Good To Yourself snack bars. They are my local pharmacy, so whenever I'm in there I check if they're on special (under $2) and buy bulk. I also have Uncle Toby's Weightwise Oats as a snack.
  • As Ange just said... jerky! It's expensive, but I love it. I buy the Jack Links BBQ and Teriyaki flavours. Half a pack is a pretty filling snack for me.
  • Uh oh... I have been working all my muscle groups 3 times a week (Tues, Thurs & Sat). Is this just completely wrong? Does anyone else do this?
  • ^^ This sounds delicious Orpheus_chick!! I'm def going to give this a go.
  • Great suggestions Queenie63. I'm also a night-time binger. Other things that work for me are a small handful of walnuts or almonds or a cup of soup (again - the hotness makes you drink slower & fills you up). Also, I find having porridge (or is it 'oatmeal' in the US?) in the afternoon keeps me fuller for the evening.
  • Perth here :)
  • Hi All, Hope you don't mind if I join in. I know you've been going for a couple of months now. I've added my progress over the last month (when I started) to the spreadsheet. I look forward to checking in with you all next week!! Good luck to you all on your goals! Cheers, Caitlin
  • I can totally understand that feeling - even though I'm a lot less along in my journey than you. Like enlightening said, some days you work out so hard and eat so well and INSIDE you feel like the tightest, trimmest thing ever. But then you catch a glance in a passing window and think "Who is that great big fat person…
  • Thanks popalud, that article was very interesting. I'm really glad to hear that I can have effective fat-burning in the higher zones. Like others here, I can't stand working out in the 60-70% zone.
  • Hey all! Great to see such a successful/supportive group here! Apparently I joined this site last year, but my weight-loss journey started a couple of weeks ago! I'm from Perth and looking to lose 45kg. I have lost 3kg so far and looking to be at my goal weight by about Christmas. First mini goal is to get under 100kg by…
