my motto is take it a day at a time...try it in 5 lb increments. You can do it!!!

Thanks for the info. Surprisingly the biscuits are only 150 calories. I treated myself to one yesterday. Yummy!

My mile is 16.5 min and I am proud of it!!! I am only 5'0 and I cant run 6.0 mph. You don't have to run. At this point, endurance is the key. Jogging at a decent pace should do the trick. My opinion and i am sticking with it.

i agree! only takes 10 minutes. 1 bag=2 cups of rice

I will finish Week 3 on saturday. If I my body is totally not up for it, i will just do week 3 again next week. I had a scope done on my knee 2 yrs ago so i am trying to take it easy. I have heard that runners can get injured easily by overdoing it. But you are right...running makes me feel brand new. i have done years of…

It depends on my schedule but usually I try to skip a day.

GOOD LUCK! I did WW and lost 40lbs. It teaches you portion size. It helps that your friend is doing it with you. Happy weight loss!

Thanks for the advice. It's funny that I've been using the same workout shoes for 12 yrs now. No problems until I started running! I guess I am really "feeling the burn"!   Also, will take your advice regarding approaching week 4. We'll see... Hell, I didn't think I could make it this far!

OMG!!! Week 3 Day 2 kicked my butt! I had to do everything in my power to keep going. Normally I do an additional 30-45 minutes but I couldn't. :grumble: I am sooo terrified of week 4 (I peeked and look ahead) because week 3 is already killing me. I was reading on the website and they said if you don't feel ready to…

Whoa! I think that you probably have burned yourself out. couch to 5k wears me out! I can't imagine doing another running program along with it. Also, I thought couch to 5k was 3 days a week. Am I wrong? Your Sundays sounds great! Great idea!

Hi guys!!! Week 3 day 1. Whew! I can't believe I did it. Three whole minutes! Twice! I thought I was losing a lung but I did it! I use the treadmill. I walk at 3.0 and run at 4.8. At the end, I stay on the treadmill at least another 20 minutes on an incline so I can burn more calories. So far, so good. i can really feel my…

Congratulations! That is no easy feat. I am doing the couch to 5k program. It is designed for people who are not runners. It will have you running a 5k in nine weeks!

Hi!!! You will love this program. My best friend (a fellow MFP fan) and I are on Week 2. Not sure if you want me to join but if so I am game! I could give perspective for what's to come.Good luck!

I think that it is fine as long it within your daily calories. I love Nature's Own honey wheat light. Yummy!

I would use whatever the gym at the machine says (if they make you enter weight and age). I have found that the MFP calculations are a bit higher. The best thing to do to get a truly accurate number is to wear a HRM.

Hi and welcome to MFP! You'll love it here. Here's my story...5'0...150 lbs...my heaviest was 173 (4 years ago). I had to realize that diets don't work and that I needed a lifestyle change. I then got down to 136 lbs! But then gained 25 lbs last year due to me falling off the wagon. MFP has changed my life! I tell everyone…

Hi Holly! You have come to the right place! I joined last September but did not start taking it seriously until February. You will love it here. The support and motivation is the best. Not only that but you get fun tips. For example, it was here that I found out about the couch to 5k program which is designed to get…

Zumba is a class (usually an hour) that features Latin inspired dancing. It's great! Although my fav cardio is the elliptical and the treadmill but on a high incline. Good luck!

Good job on your vacation! I love Chessecake Factory. I get the jumbalaya and split it in half. It makes for great leftovers. Congrats on your shirt!

Yummy! Shrimp etouffe is the best! Try it over brown rice for a healthier version.

I just started week 2 and I can totally feel my endurance strengthening! I am so excited about this program that I have recruited 3 other people to do the program with me. YAAAYYY Couch to 5k!
-
OMG! Your experience with the program was great. Thanks for getting me even more amped!

OMG!!! Thanks for the replies. I am sooo excited now!!! Here is the link for anyone that's interested in learning more about the couch to 5k program. http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml Today is the start of week 2 for me...wish me luck!

Good morning! I was wondering has anyone tried the Couch to 5K running program and if so, what were your results? My best friend and I just completed week 1 and we really enjoyed it. For those who don't know about the program, it is supposedly able to take you from being a couch potato to being able to run a 5k in 9 weeks.…

Good luck and welcome!

You lool great!!! :drinker:

Thank you all for your replies. I did some research myself (I probably should have done this before purchasing them) and I do not think that it is a good idea. I had a scope done on my knee two years ago and I would hate to aggravate that. Think I'll just change the resistance on the machines. Thanks!

I just bought 5 lb ankle and wrist weights. My question is has anyone else tried them during cardio and what were your results? My plan is to use them not only at the gym but when commuting back and forth to work, running errands etc. I just figured that it would be a good way to burn calories. Any suggestions or…

Turkey burgers are one of my favs! I take a 4 oz. serving of meat and add onion, green and red peppers (stuff the burgers with the veggies) and season them with seasoned salt and red pepper. Yummy! Good luck!

Congrats for starting the process! I would suggest getting a good workout video and a stabilty ball. The workout video should keep you motivated and you can use the stability ball to mix it up. Good luck!
