  • I went for a 4.5 hour walk. 26km later!
  • I *run*, but I'm a 5km kind of girl. I took a few months where I slacked, and now its our rainy chilly season, so my outside opportunities are shrinking! I do get inspired by reading what others are doing! I would like to start getting up to 10km.

  • I put my iphone in my armband case, then carry that in my hand. That way it is protected in case I drop it, or it starts to rain, and I can quickly look at it for a pace check, or to check the time.
  • Hmm, thanks for the tips! I can't imagine finding the time to run up to 30 miles a week! Yikes! I'll definitely try the speed work, and I should probably find some hills. Right now, my usual path has one small incline on it, and it nearly kills me... lol...
  • I call it "The Toxic Ten". The first 10 minutes are mental for me. I have to fight through it, then I start feeling better.

  • I've only run 1 timed race, but it was 8km. I finished that in 47:52. (40 years old, started running with C25k last August) I ran 5km on my own last weekend and did it in about 29:30. I really want to run a timed 5km this spring or summer.

  • I'll do this! :-) Friday, March 30th: 155 (approx as I didn't weigh in on Friday, but it's close) Friday, April 6th: Friday, April 13th: Friday, April 20th: Friday, April 27th:
  • I have a pair of running pants that are falling off while I run, so before I start my run, I put some water on the small of my back where the pants sit, so they stick to me.. then I start running, and as I work up a sweat, that makes them stick to me more.. lol... I really need to buy some new running pants!
  • BC. ((Burnaby) Feel free to add me!

  • I'll take their share of the man friends! :-) I'd love more buddies!
  • You'll have a great time! I ran my first 8km race today, and its a whole new world compared to running alone, or on the treadmill! Now I want to do one every weekend! :-)

  • I'm 40 as well, and wear a Polar FT 7. I ran a 8km race today, and my highest HR was 185. I didn't feel like I was dying, but it was feeling intense there. I slowed down to bring my HR back to around 175. My resting HR is only 55, seems crazy to see it go so high. I don't really know what my optimum HR during exercise is.…
  • I still can't bring myself to say "I'm a runner" but I'm getting closer. Ran my first race today, 8km in 47:51. I guess I do qualify. :-) ok... I'm a runner!!!!
  • Thanks! I've already scanned through the race listing to pick my next one! :-)
  • All done! 8km in 47:51. I finished 62nd out of 150 runners, and 12/25 in my age group. I'm happy with that, considering it was my first time out. The weather was fantastic, and the course was great. Nothing like running with the ocean and mountains as your scenery. Now I'm looking forward to another race!
  • Thanks! I could see myself pushing too hard with everyone passing me... Good thing it won't be all the brothers, just everyone's sister, mother and aunt! lol
  • Wow, what a jerk. I'm pretty crabby, and if that happened to me, I'd have stood up, got right in his grill and just STARE at him up close until he backed down.
  • Fabulous! I'm running a 8km in 2 weeks. I did the C25K last year, and manage to do 5k a few times a week. Due to it being dark so early during the winter, I've been inside for months now. I'm scared of the 8k. It will be my first outside run in FOREVER! I also sprained my foot pretty bad 2 months ago, and I'm afraid of…
  • 20 minutes of jogging @ 6.2mph, then a heavy leg work out. Squats, lunges, leg press, & extensions.
  • Vancouver! :-)
  • I sprained my foot almost 6 weeks ago. (Hyperextended as I fell down a step) I took almost 2 weeks off from running, then eased back in using an ace bandage, and short runs. Ice and elevation afterwards. My physiotherapist said its now ok to run on, but she doesn't want me doing any weight bearing work outs just yet. I…
  • I've always had a low RHR. Even right now, as I'm getting ready to go out for a run, I have my HRM on, and it's reading me at 49-50bpm. I get up to 170 during a run or cardio session. I also have pretty low blood pressure - 90/70. I'm no athlete, that's for sure. I just started working out last year after taking 14 years…
  • I'm 5'8, and I've lost around 15lbs so far. Was about 19lbs, but with a foot sprain and a bout of bronchitis, I've had a bit of a set back. I'm hoping to drop another 10 - 15. We'll see how I feel as I go along. I try to get to the gym, or outside for a run 4 times a week. :-)
  • Excellent! I'm running my first "race" on March 25th... 8km women only! :-)
  • I did C25K, and finished last September. I have NEVER run, and just started exercising in late July. Seriously from the couch to the treadmill. I'm now running 5k a few times a week, and am training to do a 8km run next month. I managed an 8k on the treadmill last night. I want to get back outside VERY soon. As soon as the…
  • You could stand up with your feet farther apart... ? :ohwell: I've never experience this chafing people speak of, and my legs touch all summer.
  • Congrats! That's fab! I'm doing my first race next month, it's an 8k, and I'm afraid I won't be able to run it all. I've been running 5k on the treadmill due to crappy weather, and it being dark after work... Then just as the weather improved, and I was going to get back outside, I sprained my foot, and came down with…
  • There aren't different flavours, they have 2 blends - The regular Holy Crap, and Skinny B, which has no fruit, so no sugar. I have 6 bags because they sent me a case as a gift. Lovely people! You can order it from them direct, I'm not sure if it's cheaper than the store, but I think you have to order 3 minimum? Check out…
