  • Hi ladies :) Long time no speak - I don't know what happened, I just stopped checking the forums I guess! Things have been going well for me - on 30th May I weighed in at a shocking 214 pounds and decided enough was enough. Started keto and right now I'm sitting at 195.9 and moving downwards. Lifting has been going very…
  • Aubrey - dumbbell snatches look fun, I might try some tomorrow - I will let you know if I hit anyone :) Aigre - Great running & lifting as always! How are you finding Candito? Dawn - Great job getting it all done around your schedule, have you decided if you're entering another meet? Jo - good luck squatting, and I hope…
  • Back from the gym - trying out ANOTHER new program (no one shout) which is more focused on conditioning. Only one day of "strength" although it is drizzled around the program. Today was strength Squats: 4x5 @ 70kg Romanian DLs: 4x5 @ 70kg Incline DB press: 3x6 @ 15kg DB's supersetted with Wide grip lat pulldown: 3 x 5 @…
  • Hiiiii - Sorry I have been MIA over the past couple of weeks - we moved house last Wednesday so it's been rather chaotic. I love our new house so so much so it was worth it. Even if we are now in an eye watering amount of mortgage debt :) Hoping to make it back to the gym this lunchtime so I'll update you when I'm back.…
  • Aigre - I'm liking TLS, I keep forgetting to update what I've done on here. It's hard, but in a much more manageable way than the full body or partial split routines I've done before. Today my quads hurt, and my abs a bit, but everything else feels super. I'm excited that you're trying out Candito! I liked the linear…
  • I did Chest day of TLS today Incline BB BP: 3 x 5 @ 35kg Flat BB BP: 3 x 6 @ 35kg Incline DB chest press: 3 x 8 @ 10kg DB's Flat DB chest press: 3 x 8 @ 12.5kg DB's My triceps are DEAD. DEAD DEAD DEAD. Chest feels fine, so I'm guessing I've found out why my bench press is so crappy. Haha. Jo - I am sorry to hear your news.…
  • I have a serious case of programitis - I just want to find something that is still mainly the big 4, but with some other stuff to keep my interest! TLS 5 day routine takes about 45 minutes apparently. Doesn't look too bad. I'm sure the other routines would end up being quite long though. Front squats definitely stop the…
  • Thanks ladies - my back is actually alright. Am resting up and stretching but there doesn't seem to be any damage done. I was in the middle rack of three, to the left of me was a guy doing rack pulls with 5 - 6 plates each side and a range of motion of about an inch which he roared through. Most annoying. During one of the…
  • I have read that goat and sheep milk/products are not inflammatory in the same way. I will try to find some suitable links for you. Randomly jersey cow milk is also less inflammatory... I must find that article. https://www.foodsense.net/why-is-dairy-inflammatory/ I believe that sheep and goat don't have the "A1" that the…
  • Someone walked into my bar as I was squatting today. There are not enough expletives in the world. I did the rest of my squats, but when I went to do my deadlifts I felt something in my back that obviously got messed up with smacking into him on my descent :( I hate other people Squats: 3 x 6 @ 60kg - i hit the guy on the…
  • Aigre - for lower body I have tried a few difference ones: - RFESS - RDL's - single leg press - back extensions I haven't ever tried to hip thrust before!!! I think I should, I just can't figure out how to get it set up at the gym Upper body I've done: - Tricep pushdowns - Bicep curls - Lateral raises - Push ups I think I…
  • Not backwards at all. He suggests running the two programs together. Like do a couple of cycles of the 6 week cycle and then do 2-3 months on the linear progression. Powerlifting to win is really a pretty special site. That guy has put a lot of work into reviews and programming. He comes from the mark rippetoe school of…
  • Aigre - I like Candito a lot to be honest. I like that the optional accessories are just that. You can change them every session if you want, you can skip them, you can do whatever you want. His only suggestion is that you stick with the same choices on the "non-optional accessories" for a month before changing. It is…
  • Errrr, follow on question... should I be learning the hook grip?! It's preferable to mixed grip right?
  • Aigre - I did put them on Instagram in the end, they felt very high but do not look impressive. My old boss used to do MASSIVE box jump - must have been above his waist. He used to do it in a complex - so he'd sit on a bench, then stand and jump (I'm guessing to stop the pre-jump you can see me doing). He had a weighted…
  • Two other awesome uses for a smith machine: Inverted rows Push ups (when, like me, you can't do a full one from the floor yet)
  • Had my daughter's 2 year check this morning so had the morning off work which meant I could fit in an extra long gym session before coming in :) Squats: 3 x 6 @ 70kg Deadlifts: 4, 3 @ 85kg not sure what happened, they felt horrendous, was supposed to be 2 sets of 6 Back extensions: 4 x 10 with 8kg kettlebell Hamstring…
  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I can't walk It's been two days Plus point - hamstrings are killing me which means at least I did use them!
  • Today I tried something different - over on nerdfitness there was a challenge to see how much volume you could deadlift in 5 minutes. Beginner female target was 2000lbs, advanced female 4000lbs (same as beginner male) and advanced male 6000lbs. I work in kg so this was already a small problem for me but I figured out the…
  • I'm already the only woman down there, lets not make things worse :) But thanks again - I will look some of these up and do them in the privacy of my own home
  • Supermel - it's me with PCOS. Things that have helped in the past (my nutrition is absolutely terrible right now): Option 1) not eating carbs with dinner (I still ate veggies and things, just no "traditional" carbs) but no restriction the rest of the time Option 2) full on Atkins Option 3) keeping carbs at 100g or less…
  • So I did this on Monday (as well as switching the bar to a lower position on my back) and my bum has been KILLING me the past 2 days. Need to work on the hamstrings, but @Dopeitup gave me some good advice on the form thread and I think a slower decent will help here. As well as keeping tight at the bottom of pause squats…
  • The standing on small plates thing looks like genius if I'm honest. Forces you to keep it mid foot. I asked on Reddit too and they suggested I need stronger abs to brace better to keep everything more together. We had an offer accepted on the house we liked, I don't know how the house thing works in the US but it's an…
  • Upper heavy day Bench press: 3 x 6 @ 40kg DB rows: 3 x 6 each side @ 17.5kg DB's OHP: 1 x 6 @ 30kg Lat pulldown: 1 x 6 @ 57kg Tricep pushdowns: 3 x 10 @ 15kg Lateral raises: 10, 6, 6 @ 7.5kg dumbbells Arms are shot!!! Time for some lunch :)
  • Thanks! 1) This is going to be a problem. In order for me to have a flat back I need to lean like that - I have a pretty serious anterior pelvic tilt so if I stand upright I have a serious arch which was stressing my low back. I am trying to work on the APT but it's slow going. As it improves I will try to be more upright.…
  • Here are some more of my pants! Hooray. Following the discussion on the Feb Q&A thread it became quite apparent that my squats are high bar. Today I tried lowering the bar... ... still don't think I'm doing low bar squats given my hip position at the bottom, but am I on the right track? At least the lower bar position…
  • Aigre - saw your deads with belt. Looked AMAZING. I immediately looked up getting a belt. Next payday it's happening. FANTASTIC job on the chinups, you're doing freaking amazingly with them. So I discovered (following a conversation on ETP group) that my squat was highbar. Today I decided to try out low bar - I feel like I…
  • Candito linear progression - two squat days per week. First is 3x6 and second is pause squat 6x4 2 days later. Yes, squat has improved (slowly) but finding it extremely difficult to get past 75kg. Pause squat has massively improved.
  • I guess I'm feeling quite unbalanced. I barely ever feel my glutes/hams working whereas my quads are pretty much permanently feeling worked. I feel like that is ultimately affecting how much I can squat, and getting some other muscles involved would help me out! However, as sardelsa mentions, I'm probably looking at this…
  • Casually bumping my own question - however looking at that video that @psulemon just posted it's fairly obvious that I'm squatting high bar as my pause squat bottom position looks identical to that one on the left. So my question may be completely redudant. I'm having less glute/hammy involvement because of how I squat.
