  • I figured the targets were there for a reason and to exceed the would be unhealthy so I am trying to stick to all targets and have been successful with all except sugar. Just read an interesting article that says the sugar intake target refers to added sugars and not those occuring naturally in foods such as fruit. So I…
  • I can't seem to wrap my head around how I could stick to 28g of sugar per day without cutting out healthy fruits. I make my meals from scratch an dont add sugar to my cooking. But if I eat a banana for breakfast and have an apple later in the day, I am already at my limit without even including any grains in my diet yet…
  • I am thinking that I should ignore the sugar since I am under the carb total, and I am getting lots of fibre and the sugars I am eating are natural. Thanks everybody for your comments! Very helpful!
  • Anybody think 28g is unreasonable? Should I try to stick to that or not worry about it? Or should I be setting a different target?
  • I love all fruit, but I usually have a banana every day at breakfast. I also often eat oranges, apples, berries, pineapple.
  • My limit was calculated by MFP, I didn't choose it. I assumed that was a healthy amount and I should try and stick to it. But cutting my fruit back and upping my breads/pasta doesn't seem to really make sense. I need to have at least some fruit in my diet dont i? If the sugar target is meant for "added" sugar I wonder if…
  • I do this too. Once I have made a couple of soups and frozen individual portions, I just grab whatever kind I feel like that day, and microwave it at lunch time. Chicken and vegetable soup with orzo, mexican black bean soup. Thai sweet potato soup, butternut squash soup, etc. lots of different options out there. It is so…
  • they treat "moderation" as a free pass to eat whatever you want... that's not my understanding of moderation. I still believe you can have indulgences once in a while and that no specific food should be entirely off limits if you love it, but having it in moderation means balancing those indulgences within an overall…
  • I have the same trouble... I often don't eat enought calories during the day not knowing if I'll get a chance to exercise in the evening, and when I do - I have a calorie deficit too big to eat back before bed time. I was wondering if it would be ok to eat them back the following day?
  • Great question, I too need some new shoes. I play tennis, but eventually want to run as well, is there a shoe that is good for both? I currently have some New Balance shoes that I think are more designed for walking, with a Dr. Scholl's insert in both for heel pain/plantar fasciitis. Not sure if there is a good shoe out…
  • I just bought a ladies Timex HRM with watch at Costco for $69.99 (in Canada, so prob cheaper in USA) and love it. It tracks min/max/avg HRM and calories, recovery etc. during workout and was reasonably priced.
  • I play racquetball (very similar to squash, but with a bouncier ball) and love it. I get over 1200 calories burned in an hour - it's the best workout of anything I have tried and enjoyed.
  • I think that the bulk of sodium in our diets comes from the foods we eat, not from adding a few sprinkles of table salt. If you are staying away from processed foods, you might find it hard to get enough sodium from simply adding table salt to your diet. I believe there are also salt pills out there. I have heard that…
  • It is based on the fact that you are setting a goal to lose 1 or 2 or whatever pounds per week. Your daily calorie intake is calculated based on your goal. If you add more exercise into the mix, you would have to eat more calories to continue losing weight at the rate you chose when you set your goal. If you don't eat them…
  • Bohemian Rhapsody or anything upbeat by Queen.
  • I'm into Tennis and Racquetball... they feel more like just fun activities (which happen to burn a ton of calories) than they do like "working out" which is important to me... I can't seem to stick with a physical activity that isn't fun, so I'm drawn more to sports.
  • sweat doesn't bother me (and I sweat a lot), but exercising in the heat does - I start to feel overheated and uncomfortable. Drinking extra water helps.
  • did you take measurements before you started the weight loss? If so, take your measurements again now and see if there is a difference. Sometimes it's hard to "see" the difference in ourselves because the change happens gradually. someone who may not have seen you in a while would be more likely to be able to notice the…
  • Make your diary public, hard to give advice without seeing what you're eating and what your exercise regime looks like.
  • WOW!!! That is truly amazing. What an inspiration you are!
  • I too sleep in on the weekends... I just feel like by the end of the week I'm wiped, even if I get my 7 to 8 hours every night. I sometimes think that no matter how long I sleep on week nights, that the quality of my sleep is poor and that's why I need the extra hours on the weekend. I'm on vacation next week, so something…
  • Go get some exercise in!
  • Marley & Me (cuz i haven't seen it) FIght Club Dodgeball Happy Gilmore.\
  • Ideally, your net should be whatever your daily calorie target is. eg. if your daily target is 1400, then your net should be 1400. If you exercise, the calories burned are deducted from your net and you'll need to eat more calories to hit your net.
  • First off, you need to change your belief that nobody wants a fat girl. There are LOTS of fat girls who have wonderful husbands/boyfriends. True, we might not get hit on as much in bars/clubs, or be the first choice for one-night stands, but we do just fine at finding partners for real relationships. So even if you still…
  • I once had an extra tuna steak left over after grilling tuna for dinner and made tuna salad with it. But be warned,. once you have used fresh or frozen tuna steaks and cook them yourself you will never be able to go back to canned tuna. It's just not the same. Ditto for salmon. Fortunately, these are easy to cook yourself…
  • Mine pops/cracks. I wear a knee brace for physical activity, and while it doesn't stop the popping, it gives my knee much more support and keeps everything aligned properly. If I don't wear it, I get way more pain after exercise, and my knee has given out on me before.

  • I had a yogurt and a banana today.
