  • Hey, thanks for the reply. When I went for the walk, I looked at my fitbit device before and after and it read 1000 calories higher afterwards. I have just been on my activity log for that day to double check, and it says I burned about 40 - 43 calories during each 5 minute segment of the walk, so about 1000 in total. This…
  • The TDEE shown on the fitbit dashboard usually looks realistic to me...2000 - 2100 calories, if I have worked out which I do most days. But then MFP tells me that my 'daily goal' to eat is in the 1900s, which would give me a really small deficit. I'm currently aiming for a 500 calorie daily deficit. So I eat closer to 1400…
  • Thanks for the responses - I guess I was thinking of 'rest day' as any day that doesn't include any vigorous physical activity. I hadn't even thought of the difference between a 'rest' or 'recovery day'. I was intending to go for a walk, but the weather is horrendous today...seems a good excuse as any to rest completely :)
  • I'm 5"4 and 127lb, I put it as 'circuit training' on MFP which comes to 138 calories for the 18 minutes. I have just done day 18, and had no breaks, so pretty pleased :) How did you find day 1?
  • Curly Wurlys are only 115kcal, I think
  • I think everyone here will be able to relate to this. Sometimes motivation flags, and you get sick to death of restricting, counting every calorie, having to put your weight loss before social events. It just sucks sometimes. All I can really say is that you're doing really well, and if you persevere it WILL be worth it.…
  • I've lost a third of my body since starting MFP :)
  • I don't know about the health benefits but I always sprinkle some in my coffee...tastes great!
  • Hey guys - just wanted to say thankyou for all of you who replied (and those who PMed me, much appreciated). As chance would have it, my uni is started a 6-session workshop/therapy group for people with eating issues, and today I went to see the counsellor in charge to see if it would benefit me. She thought that I was…
  • SIzes have definitely changed...I used to volunteer at a charity shop sorting through clothes, and always noticed that the older-looking clothes looked ridiculously small compared to what their modern counterparts would be. Like an old (UK) size 14 top would be more like a 10 today. So I'm well aware of vanity sizing and…
  • 1. What's your real name? Fiona 2. Married, single, long-term relationship, divorced, widowed? In a relationship (almost 9 months :D) 3. How old are you (no cheating)? 20 4. A food you love that's terrible for you: Everything! Burgers, mashed potato, pizza, cheesecake, crisps/chips...I'm a carb-fiend. 5. Celebrity crush:…
  • Lol don't worry about the asterisks, it's my own fault for picking a silly username. The fasting thing sounds very brave! I don't think I'd feel comfortable giving up calorie counting altogether though. Doesn't it make you feel tired and brain-dead throughout the day though?
  • I feel proud to feel like I can post in the not-so-heavy girls thread  I'm 5"4, currently about 122lb which is a massive victory for me (down from 177lb). But I would definitely like to go that bit further...I still don't feel 'thin' exactly, so my goal now is 112. Only 10lb away...but weight loss is definitely…
  • Having the self-control to not eat late in the evening is making a definite difference for me! (I'm a natural night-time eater)
  • A plain IUD sounds like a really good idea actually, especially seeing as I often forget to take the pill at the right time. Going to ask at the docs tomorrow, thanks very much for the advice xx
  • The trouble is, most BC options will alter your hormones and I know that different types affect everyone differently. It's just finding the right one for you that is a *****. I hate being a woman.
  • I don't want to weigh a pound more than my ultimate goal weight (126) by Christmas...or better yet, by the time I leave Uni to go home for the holidays around the 10th December. Also, to be able to fit into the gorgeous little red dress I've been saving for all the Xmas parties! :drinker: Good luck everyone :flowerforyou:
  • Omg, I used to ALWAYS be guilty of this! I didn't realize other people did too  But just recently noticed that I don't do it anymore. You know you're losing weight when you quickly buy a belt to hold up your now too-baggy jeans in a size Medium/Large, and then when you try it on later you realize that even on the…
  • That's amazing, it's a great feeling, isn't it? Congrats and keep up the good work :flowerforyou:

  • As of today, I've shed 40lb since joining MFP, and I'm so so happy. 40 seems like an impossibly huge number to have lost, and my goal is in sight....just wanted to share this excitement with someone! Thankyou MFP :flowerforyou: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

  • ...10 miles. Woo. Go me.
  • For the first time since I was quite a young child, I am officially in my healthy weight range! And on the exact date I set myself, as well, my BMI is exactly 25 and it's only gonna get lower! Woo! :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
  • I've so far not reset my calorie goals, sticking at 1400 because I find going lower than this every day difficult. Is this ok? It doesn't seem to have hindered my weight loss so far (touchwood!).
  • Hey, same here! Go us :drinker:
  • ...can barely see a difference. I've gone from 175 to 149 since October, which is great, my measurements have gone down, but when I look at myself, I don't think I look much thinner. Only one person has actually noticed, as well. Is this normal? Do you guys see a difference when you look in the mirror? If so, how many…
  • Measuring in exactly the same spot each time can be difficult, as can remembering exactly how tightly you pulled the measuring tape, so don't worry about it! If you were on track with your calories, and lost 2lb, I doubt your measurements have increased.
  • I can't seem to stop myself weighing in almost everyday, it's like an addiction...anyone got any tips for avoiding the scales?
  • So I was looking at the instructions for my scale today and it said that they are most accurate on a hard surface. Since I've always weighed myself on carpet, I tried on a hard floor to see if it would make a difference. Turns out on the hard floor I weigh about 1-2kg less, which of course makes me feel good, but is it…
  • You definitely feel better after eating something healthier, but I still find it very hard to make the right choices at restaurants. Congrats to you both :flowerforyou:
