  • Hi there, hoping someone can answer this too as I seem to have lost these… no progress tab at all on the menu & I liked seeing the little graph of weight loss!
  • Haha thanks guys, urgh yeah don't think I would have managed much longer without flaking out, but all good now 😊
  • Can't help on the calorie count but now I need a freshly baked pain au chocolat, darn it!!
  • All I can say is congratulations on breastfeeding twins! Amazing! I am breastfeeding my 9 month old & definitely notice that I get waaaay more hungry if she feeds more for whatever reason... plus being tired makes you hungrier too! The weight loss is still CICO but of course the CO from breastfeeding is a rough estimate...…
  • Often a B12 deficiency is due to pernicious anaemia, so your body is unable to absorb/process the B12, rather than not having enough of it in your diet (hence they give you injections rather than tablets) so I'd speak to your GP about this before making big changes to your diet... if your body can't absorb it you can eat…
  • As a UK nurse I'd just like to add that we get zero training in dietetics (unless you then go on to do an extra course such as diabetic training) so it's quite likely that your practice nurse was giving advice based only on her own ideas & experience. I've heard my colleagues come out with some completely off the wall…
  • Oh dear yes can definitely relate to this... chickpeas, beans, oh my gaaaaawd lentils! Bad times!!Things have settled for me a lot now I'm under less stress. A common suggestion for IBS as others have said is increasing fibre intake but this wasn't the case for me, everyone's so different. I'd keep a food diary & note your…
  • Hi there, I'm a nurse too & can sympathise with the long shifts & sad legs/feet! I always wear either support tights (I use firm support ones from the chemist) or compression socks (I buy Activa, tried other cheaper ones but they're just not as good). I definitely feel the difference from when I haven't worn them, less…
  • Potassium is often not listed on food packaging, so therefore hasn't been entered onto the database... you're probably eating a lot more of it than mfp tells you :)
  • Thank you :) haha yeah it's devastating when you realise how many cals are crammed into something you love isn't it!
  • So much love for this 😊
  • Thanks guys... ooh tahini makes me think of halva too, that's gotta be pretty caloriffic.
  • Hi Ann :) yes indeed I meant FF = full fat, actually hadn't occurred to me that it could also be read as fat free! Oops! Given the context though I'd be a bit of a doughnut to be going for fat free over full fat 😊 "You can go to the local convenience store every day and get her a chocolate malt with real vanilla ice cream.…
  • Hi Kirsty, congratulations on your baby! I'm also breastfeeding, my baby is 13 weeks now & I've literally only just started really going out for longer walks again this week (partly cos the weather's been so crap until this week!) I have been eating wayyyy over my normal calories & stayed about the same weight with no…
  • Thank you, that's really helpful :)
  • Thank you for the tips... protein powder & cream in smoothes is definitely a winner as she has a smoothie every day anyway but just fruit/veg... I'll be pimping those smoothies!!!😂
  • Thank you... although she's only 65 so would probably take exception to being called elderly! 😊😊 but yes we're trying to keep up the protein as well, she was extremely fit until very recently so still has quite a bit of muscle mass. Can't believe I hadn't thought of ice cream yet!! That's going to the top of the list along…
  • Have to agree with the above poster, if you're cutting out dairy it does seem a bit self defeating to still eat a probiotic yoghurt, and (according to my GP anyway) the amount of probiotics they contain isnt really enough to make a noticeable difference. You could buy probiotic capsules which contain a larger dose so you…
  • My scales will show stones and lbs, lbs only, or kgs... I always prefer to measure my own weight in stones & lbs as thats what I grew up doing (despite England supposedly being fully metric), but at work (I'm a dialysis nurse) when we weigh our patients its always gotta be in kg. When my daughter was born last year the…
  • I was diagnosed with IBS about 10 years ago, definitely agree with the above about working out what foods affect you (lentils are my nemesis unfortunately), keeping a food diary is a good idea (oh hello mfp log!) Note down how you were feeling each day to spot any patterns... also if possible try and reduce stresses in…
  • Breakfast: cheese & bacon pastry, coffee & milk. Lunch: sweet potato & coconut soup, greek yoghurt & honey Dinner: jacket potato & beans Snacks: grapes, probably chocolate as well (I had my baby 3 weeks ago & was given A LOT of chocolates from friends & family when she was born... gotta keep my calories up for…
  • Leftover chilli on a jacket potato... it was gonna be burritos but changed my mind :)
  • Ooh I love butternut squash risotto (apart from the chopping up the butternut squash part!!) Haven't made it for ages, that's definitely going on my next week's menu :) Breakfast: crumpets, banana. Lunch: cheese & shallot toastie, apple Dinner: jacket potato & beans. Not the most inspiring food day today!
  • Ahhh nooo not Toby Carvery though... go to a proper pub! :)
  • Breakfast: fruit & fibre cereal, unsweetened almond milk. Lunch: at a pub as my auntie is over from France & picked the place! Cod goujon sandwich, chips. Dinner: leftover chicken fajita mix, leftover white rice. Snacks: mint chocolates.... mmmmmm, mint chocolates.....
  • If you're ok with a "crispy" kind of texture you could try making kale chips - pretty low cal if you use a spray oil, also you can roast chickpeas til they're crispy, and add any spices/flavours you like. Feels like a snacky food but still veggie & high protein as well.
  • Haha yup, it's not even a typo that someone overlooked its a totally different word... guess they were making a chicken drumstick label at the same time as the passata label!!
  • Hmm do you think she's being funny about it cos it's kinda reflecting on poor food choices she's making maybe? Like she can't get a takeaway on her own without using you to justify it? (Don't think I'm explaining myself very well here but hopefully that makes sense!) I'd say the cash side of things alone is a good enough…
  • Are you restricted with your diet because of renal or heart problems? Ideally you should be referred to a dietician who can give you lists of what to eat & whats on the no list if so (obviously ignore this if that's not the issue!) As far as breadmaking goes, you should be fine if you're making it from scratch, just don't…
