  • Yes x 3 today--managed a 30-minute ride on my Myx bike and a 10-minute upper body workout as well. I guess I put my "fall back" hour to good use! I love to make sheet pan dinners with lots of roasted veg--only one pan to clean, and minimal oil. Adding a different combination of fresh herbs and spices keeps things…
  • Posting this a day late (on Sunday)--the weekend got away from me! Friday was pass day #2, unfortunately. My husband and I were out doing errands, and it's rare he feels well enough to spend the day out and about (Parkinson's causes serious fatigue), so I celebrated that burst of energy and treated us to an ice cream…
  • Yes x 3.
  • Yes x 3 once again today. I've actually been impressed (both today and yesterday) that what feels like a pretty generous day of calories is still well within my maintenance budget! Just goes to show how useful it is to recalibrate our sense of "normal" every once in a while.
  • Yes x 3, even with a little leftover Halloween candy thrown in. Getting back in the swing of this!
  • Well, I totally forgot that today was Nov. 1 and I needed to start tracking calories again! 😂 I did get in my exercise, so that's something.
  • Hi all! I've been taking a break from the UAC since last summer and my weight has remained stable, but this Halloween season has proven to me that I need greater accountability over the holidays. So, I'm back! I also need a measure of support for my own well-being because, in addition to working full-time as a professor,…
  • Wrapping up this deeply imperfect month of June with yet another pass day. Congratulations to those who made it to the winner's circle! That's a big accomplishment with so many areas of the U.S. experiencing such high temps. I've signed up for the July UAC, but mostly as a safety net. We'll be traveling for part of the…
  • I've been really terrible about posting regularly this month. Still tracking calories every day (and staying on track), but exercise has been sporadic. It's just SO HOT in south Texas right now that I'm having a hard time staying motivated to do much more than sit under a fan. I guess I should give myself credit for…
  • @RangerRickL Thank you so much for this group. I've accomplished goals in the past 6 months that I couldn't meet on my own, despite multiple attempts. I'm so grateful for this community that you built. I'll miss the support, but I understand that we all reach a place where we need to move on. Hugs to you!
  • I've been very lax about checking in this month. Generally staying on track, though today was Pass #5 due to an ice cream celebration when our dog was given a clean bill of health. 🎊 It was worthy of an indulgence! Looking back, these six months in the UAC have taught me how important it is to just keep going, even when…
  • Yes x 3 today and yesterday. I have a difficult relationship with the scale. I feel like I have a healthier relationship with my body when I'm not focused on a number (using the way my clothes fit as my guide), but I also know that I gain weight when I stop paying attention. Right now I'm weighing in once a week. I'm not…
  • Yes x 3 today and yesterday. I've been going easy on calories to compensate for my big Mexican food extravaganza easier this week. My husband and I will be taking our first vacation in over 2 years next month, so I'm looking forward to reading everyone's words of wisdom!
  • I was doing really well today--staying on track with calories, exercising when I planned to. But then my husband suggested going out for dinner, for the first time since before the pandemic, and I just couldn't say no. Two fish tacos and a gigantic margarita later, it's pass day #4. As others have said, I wish I'd learned…
  • Yes x 3 today.
  • 3 x yes today. Strength training is never my favorite, but I do like feeling strong, so I guess it's necessary. 😂 Self efficacy is a challenge for me, mostly due to my family history. It's taken me most of my adult life to figure out that I'm not "showing off" by maintaining a healthy weight and exercising--I'm just taking…
  • Yes x 3 today, and I planned out my exercise for the rest of the week, so no excuses. I almost always listen to music when I go out for a walk. I have several different playlists, depending on my purpose. Sometimes I'm just trying to walk off a bad mood (for which I use the playlist appropriately titled Mood), and…
  • 3 x yes. Got up this morning, put on my walking shoes and headed outside before the rain could thwart me!
  • Well, June is off to a rough start. My son decided to come home for the week--today is his 24th birthday, and he starts a terrific internship next Monday, so we've had a lot to celebrate. But my workout room is also his former bedroom, so . . . Between eating celebratory food and not exercising, I am well and truly off the…
  • Three x yes, just barely. My personal goals for June: 1. Shoot for the winner's circle. (I haven't made it since January!) 2. Be honest with myself, even if that means I don't achieve Goal #1. 3. Explore a variety of ways to get my exercise. The non-stop rain in Texas has made it difficult to get outside, but I have a…
  • Yes x 3 today. Good weigh-in this morning and I fit in a walk between rainstorms, so I'm feeling motivated to finish May strong even though I won't be in the winner's circle.
  • Posting late again, but today was another pass day. I will most definitely not be in the winner's circle for June. My exercise routine has just completely fallen apart--too much rain to take a walk or work in the yard, most days, and I'm not feeling the motivation to do an indoor workout. Exercise has always been the piece…
  • Logging in late because MFP was being wonky, but 3 x yes for me today. Yesterday was a pass day, so I'm out of the Winner's Circle for this month.
  • I'm late to post and forgot to post at all on Sunday--still tracking, but not as carefully as I need to. I'm doing that thing where I slide into lazy habits after getting to a weight I'm comfortable with. I've done this approximately 1 million times. As I've said before, the big challenge for me is figuring out how to see…
  • Back for my sixth month. This group has been such a great support for me--I finally managed to lose the weight I've been dragging around for the last ~7 years, and now I'm focused on maintenance. I really wasn't sure I'd ever get to this point!
  • Yes x 3 today. The maintenance calorie budget makes it pretty easy for me to stay on track (as long as I exercise.) Tomorrow is weigh-in day and I'm interested to see where I am, given the way my weight has fluctuated this month.
  • Yes x 3.
  • Yes x 3. After mixed news from the vet this morning, I came home and took a long walk to clear my head. I also did some yard work before the day really heated up. So, lots of calories burned--hopefully this offsets my lack of exercise yesterday.
  • Planned pass day--that makes 3. I used to be terrible about drinking enough water, but when I moved to Texas I realized it really wasn't optional anymore. Now I take my 36-ounce bottle everywhere and refill it at least once a day. I'm also a great devotee of sparkling water.
  • Yes x 3. I managed to fit in a walk between downpours today, and my dog felt up to going with me! Thanks to those of you who responded to my question about a maintenance range. I'm thinking I might shoot for staying within a 5-pound range with my goal weight at the center--that gives me 2.5 pounds in either direction. I'm…
