weight double standards
I have been on both sides of this. I was fat, now i'm thin. However I like to call myself fit and healthy. It seems now that I have gotten to this great point, people feel it is acceptable to verbalize their opinions on my body. "woa, you're too freakin thin" I heard that today. No, I am not too thin. I am 5'2 and…

Maintenance!!
I entered Maintenance! However I am confused. When it changed to "maintain" weight" it only added about 100 calories. I went from being able to eat 1350 calories to lose to only being able to eat 1530 to maintain. I went and looked at a few sites and it seems I do range between 1530-1778, if I add daily exercise I can get…

taco salad calorie figuration
If i got a whole wheat shell, blackened chicken, with lettuce, tomato, cheese, guac, avacodo ranch dressing and tortilla strips salad for 936 calories, but did not eat the shell...how many calories would you guestimate i ate? I can't figure it out. the website does not list the calories separately. I gave my daughter the…

Is maintaining weight harder than losing weight?
I entered the new realm of maintenance recently, and for some reason it scares me. Especially since i have seen people on here say "you may find it harder". If you found it harder, why? My maintenance according to several sites seems to range from 1500-1900. which isn't all that much and makes no sense since I have lost…

when figuring out TDEE...is walking enough to be considered exercise?
I don't really 'workout" as much as i use to, but i do walk 5-9 miles a day usually. Today i walked for 1 hour and 40 minutes. I just love walking this trail near my house that is long..it is in the woods and beautiful. I just don't know if i should count that as exercise or if TDEE is wanting hardcore stuff..like running,…

fitbit users; is there a way to add miles?
I went on a 50 minute 4 mile jog today. My fitbit was charging during the run so I wasn't wearing it. I added the exercise to myfitnesspal and added the calories my heart rate monitor said I burned. While it did add the minutes of exercise to my fitbit, it did not add the miles. Fitbit is now taking calories away from me…

update t my fitbit issue (added calories)
I got a fitbit flex for Christmas and only recently started using it, I have it synced up to here. As a nurse I work 3 days a week 12-14 hour shifts. On those days my fitbit was adding back 1000-1100 calories to my day because I was getting over 25000 steps in a day. Today was my day off, no exercise and I still somehow…

Fitbit..please help me
Ugh. Could this be correct or do you think my fitbit is buggy? I am a nurse and am moving around the majority of my day, but 1000 extra calories?? I'm about to throw this thing in a drawer.

how accurate are the fitbit calories from steps?
I didn't exercise today ( off day) and my new fitbit has added 700 calories to my day from the steps I took. I haven't done much of anything exercise worthy but walk at work. According to my fitbit I walked almost 20,000 steps and 9.45 miles for an additional 708 calories. Is this legit? since fitbit added it to MFP as…

would you consider 6 hours a week of exercise; 6 days?
This is a really stupid question I know. But when figuring out TDEE IIFYM wants to know how you exercise by number of days. I only can squeeze in 3-4 days a week but pull 5-6 hours a week of workouts because I work hard on the days I can. I don't know how to calculate TDEE, since while I work out 3 days a week, I work out…

which is more accurate? scooby or iifym for TDEE calculations?
iifym has my BMR at 1254and my TDEE at 1779, based on exercise 3 times a week. Those numbers seem ridiculously low, to even have a 10% reduction of TDEE I would only be allowed to eat 1602, 20% would have me at 1424,and on my workout days I am really hungry eating at those levels. I noticed with Scooby though; it is based…

5'1-5'2 ladies what is your daily calorie goal?
My BMR is 1292 but my tdee is anywhere between 1700 (iilym) to 2100 on scooby. To lose I have to eat anywhere between 1400 (iilfym) to 1800 on scooby. Most days I average between 1400-1800 calories a day. ( not net because I don't follow mfp) Can someone tell me what their numbers are? I'm 5'2 130.0-130.6pds and exercise…

How to determine your activity level
I don't work outside the home, I have school aged children. However I get 180-270 minutes of gym time in a week. Would I be sedetary since I don't work, or lightly active since I log so much exercise?

does your TDEE stay the same on your non workout days
I work out 5 days a week for a total of 250-270 minutes a week. My TDEE is 2105 based off of 3-5 hours a week of exercise. On Saturday and Sunday, my off days, is my TDEE still 2105, or is it reduced since I am doing little movement? I guess my question is, is my TDEE only my TDEE on my workout days?

70lbs lost; almost 3lb gain
I've been consistent for a year with holding my weight. I weigh everything on a scale. I stay within 200 of my maintenance level every day. I work out for 180-270 minutes a week. Out of nowhere I gained almost 3lbs. Assumed it was due to sodium and ignored it. However new week, weight still there. The only thing I can…

how many hours a week do you workout?
I average between 130-250 hours a week. I know health experts say you should try and get 250 for weightloss, and 190 for health but some weeks it is really hard to get to those numbers. so what about you? My stats are I lost 70lbs on my own without MFP..I am just maintaining and increasing my fitness stats.

Is this rude, or am I just exaggerating the issue
I have been going to the gym for about 3-4 months now. I have worked my way up to being able to jog for 3 1/2 miles. Today i was on my way to a new achievement of 4 miles. The gym was NOT busy. There were open treadmills so you didn't have to get on one right beside someone else. I was at 3.45 when this lady gets on one…

I've lost 70lbs on my own
Seriously. I am currently 134-135 depending on what the scale wants to give me that week. I did it all on my own. I only stumbled upon this site when I googled how to tone squishy. Anyway, I see a lot of people "afraid" to eat, "afraid" of the holidays, "afraid" of having a good time. and let me tell you something. YOU…

major setback. stress fracture in foot
I have been slowly increasing my run time and speed. I got it up to 25 minutes at 5.5mph when I began to notice a slight pain in my foot. At first I ignored it (mistake #1) and ran through the pain anyway. It wasn't hurting that bad anyway. Then I took a few days off to try and let it heal. I went back to running last…

slight weight gain after starting body weight exercises.
I weigh in once a week. Last week I was 134.4. I also started a body weight exercise program two days before this week's weigh in. This week i was 136.2 I know weight fluctuates and i understand that completely. I would like to know if the water that your muscles hold onto when starting a strength training program can…

body weight exercises
Hello. I just have a question about body weight exercises. I do not have a gym, can't afford a gym and can't afford to buy heavy equipment. I own some free weights ( 10,20,25 and 50lb) I do cardio outside by walking and jogging (jog 15 minutes walk 15 and repeat until I have gone an hour) and I do body weight exercises I…

how far out do you experience "period weight gain" (for the ladies)
I am 8-10 days out from TOM and I have already gained 2lbs. I don't know if it is too early to be TOM or something else? I haven't really been working out the last few weeks. I had my appendix removed and then i came down with pneumonia. Although I did lose all the surgery weight a few days after i got home. So this is…
