Strength training question
I have been very resistant to strength training. I've been doing cardio and that's pretty much all. The times I did try lifting I found it hugely boring. I also can't afford nor am I anywhere near a gym and while I do have some dumbells at home they max out at 30 pounds. Anyways, I always hear about the benefits of…

Almond milk drinkers
So my son's pediatrician wants him off dairy for a little bit and so we bought him some almond milk to have with his cereal. There are some birthdays and thanksgiving (canada) coming up and I was wondering if almond milk is a suitable substitution for milk in stuff like dessert's (cakes, muffins, icing etc) and for…

Coffee question
Why is it that if I go buy a coffee at let's say McDonald's or Tim Hortons or any other place like that and I get it with 2 cream, it doesn't matter what size I buy it's still only 40 calories? I mean on the surface it seems logical since no matter size I get I'm still asking for only 2 cream but they always look and taste…

Activity level settings in MFP
I've been part of MFP for a while now but one thing has always confused me about the setting for determining your calorie goals. When asked to pick an activity level I am never sure what to put. The options are sedentary, lightly active defined as a good part of the day on your feet, active defined as a good part of the…

Advice from runners
So I used to run (treadmill) problem was I loved it and so I just went at it hard core regardless of the fact that at that time I was 309 pounds and did too much too soon and ended up with injuries and so I quit running. I missed it sooo much. Anyways I'm down 50 pounds so far and I started getting up at 440 before my kids…

Ruined my breakfast
Let me start off by saying that I have never used protein powders. I don't find them necessary (personally) as I am able to get adequate protein through food. However, everyone on here seems to use some sort of protein powder so when the drugstore in my town had free samples of hemp protein powder I decided what the hell…

Early morning exercisers
I'm a mostly stay at home mom and I used to exercise in my basement after my older child went off to school and my youngest child hopefully behaving beside me so I could have just 1 uninterrupted hour of exercise. As u can imagine most days this did not happen. I came to the conclusion about 2 months ago that if I really…

Why does it have to be like this!?
I work part time as a transcriptionist in a hospital. I have someone who works with me but in another hospital. In the past when I wasn't trying to lose weight I told this other woman who is significantly older than me that she makes the best chocolate sandwich cookies I've ever tasted. They are delicious! I have since…

Is it enough?
It has taken me a long time to get out of the mind set that I need to exercise in order to lose weight. I would try to exercise for over an hour every day and I would just dread it and then if I missed a day I would feel SO guilty. But I have finally gotten to the point where I know my weight loss depends mostly on having…

Using a scale
So I have always used a scale to measure out some stuff like meat and cheese but predominantly use measuring cups to measure my food. But I kept seeing on here people over and over and over again saying measuring cups aren't accurate and u should use a scale for everything except liquids. I decided to give it a try. It was…

What's the difference?
OK so here's a question for everyone. I've seen so many people on here and others on the Internet etc who manage to lose 100 or more pounds in 12 - 18 months (I've even seen one who lost over 200 pounds in 18 months). My question is how are they doing this???? When I started I wanted to lose at least 150 pounds. I realized…

Ugh! Just need to vent
A couple years ago I lost some weight. Then last year i lost motivation and pretty much did nothing all year. Well this year I have deemed the year of me and have gotten my motivation and determination back in spades. I've been going strong exercising 6 days a week and eating within or just below my calories. I set a goal…

High impact
So I bought the turbofire dvds by Chalene Johnson cuz I just love her and I like her piyo dvds but felt like I needed something intense and I heard great things about turbofire. However, I have read that it is pretty high impact with lots of jumping and I'm worried. In the past I have ran and I loved it but always had to…
