How do you track sushi?
I had sushi for lunch. My thought is to just log all the components separately. With all the "fancy" rolls, it's not a matter of a "tuna roll" or "CA roll". I had a green monster roll. So suggestions other than just finding/logging the individual components?

Tracking cooking oil
Hi everyone. I am wondering how everyone tracks oil you cook with. For example, I roast cauliflower in olive oil. Does any of the oil cook off or do I track all the oil used? Thanks!

Steel cut oats; quick vs regular
I did search the boards, but didn't see this exact question. I'm trying to lower my cholesterol and I've been told steel cut oats are very good for that. I had some Quaker Oats quick cook steel cut oats and I really liked them. However a friend told me that the quick cook is different that "regular" steel cut oats…

Who's addicted?
I must say, the Fitbit has me hooked. I love seeing all my hourly 250+ dots get colored in! It makes me move every hour. If it's getting close to the end of the hour and my dot isn't colored, I walk around the office, or march in place until I see that satisfying colored dot! Anyone else addicted??

How do others not think about eating?
How do others do it? I've been slightly overweight my entire life, but it's my adult life that's troubling. I've been up and down several times. I don't have an eating disorder, at least I don't think I do, but I have to ask. How do "normal weight" people, people who just stay the same weight without trying, do it? I'm a…

Eating breakfast makes me more hungry...?
I'm sorry if this has been discussed already. I did do a search, but didn't see this specific topic. For the most part, I'm not a breakfast eater. I'm just not hungry when I first get up. I have a desk job and get up on the weekdays around 7:15am to get the kids out the door, then start working. Generally I'll get hungry…

Been asked before, but still having trouble re: Fitbit
Hello -- I have searched this community and found other questions regarding Fitbit not syncing, but I'm still having issues. While myfitnesspal is syncing to my fitbit app, the exercise/steps registered/logged into my Fitbit and its app are not showing up on Myfitnesspal. I have it set to a sedentary lifestyle, but don't…

Always weigh!
Just a comment about portion size and calories. I had some hummus today. The label says 2 TBS (28g/1oz) is a serving size. However, when I weighed 2 TBS, is was more than 28g! Not a rounded tablespoon, but a take a knife and run it along the top of the measuring spoon tablespoon. Just saying I'm glad I started weighing…

This can't be right...ice skating
Just for discussion and to see what others think. I use MapMyWalk to measure my exercise amounts and calories burned (it syncs nicely to MFP). Today I went ice skating with my kids. I started my ice skating "workout" right before I got on the ice, paused it anytime I stopped skating and "ended workout" when I got off the…

Pizza for weight loss?
I was very busy at work today and only had time for a small snack. With little food in the house, I got the kids Domino's for dinner. Starving, I had two pieces and figured I'd make up for it the rest of the week. Well, after looking up the nutrition info, turns out two pieces of what I had is 470 calories and 50 carbs (I…

CICO for everything?
I've been doing well on a CICO method. I weigh everything (except sushi, I guesstimate there). There is another food I really like, and we're going to that restaurant this weekend. I love the veg black bean burger at Burger 21. I looked up its nutrition information. It's around 439 cals, 43 carbs, etc. Now if CICO really…

Eat sushi again!
Recently I posted asking how you count sushi. I was surprised to see that many people recommend I stay away from sushi while in the weight loss phase due to its high calorie content. I am honestly more concerned about the carbs in the rice; as I don't get "crunchy", "tempera", or cream cheese sushi. However, today I went…

MFP program?
I've been on and off MFP for a while now. I use it mostly to log my intake and exercise. However, lots of posters talk about following the MFP program. Is there a program?

Spot reduce?
Hello All, I've read several posts that say you can't spot reduce. The best thing is to lose weight and overall everything will get smaller. Unfortunately I've had experience with losing lots of weight and gaining it back. I do notice that mostly, yes, everything shrinks. However, one thing that stays is my underarm flab,…

Who do you believe?
Has anyone found that the information in this database can be different than other sources of nutrition information? For example, I was adding my lunch, it included sashimi tuna. I found it in the database here, but when I googled to find the nutrition info, it was quite different than what was in this database; more…

Fed Up? The movie -- comments?
I watched Fed Up? on Netflix the other night. I too am a believer that weight loss is about calories in/calories out. But the movie made me think; it made some good points. It used an example of 160 calories of almonds vs. 160 of Coke. The Coke is all calories from sugar, which the body can’t process all at once, so some…

Adding exercise to my log
Hi -- I"m somewhat new to MyFitnessPal. Yesterday I did gardening/landscaping in my yard for 2.5 hours. A lot of bending, carrying bundles of mulch, etc. While I can find "gardening, general" in the exercise database, I can't seem to add it. When I click on Exercise, it only asks for Cardo or Strength Training; gardening…
