Steel cut oats; quick vs regular

I did search the boards, but didn't see this exact question. I'm trying to lower my cholesterol and I've been told steel cut oats are very good for that. I had some Quaker Oats quick cook steel cut oats and I really liked them. However a friend told me that the quick cook is different that "regular" steel cut oats nutritionally and for the cholesterol-lowering benefits. I googled this, but didn't find that the quick cook steel cut variety is any different than the regular, non-quick cook. So, I'm asking all the smart people here if I should trash my quick cook for the regular kind. Thanks for the input.

Some people prefer the taste and texture of their kind. Eat the one that works for you.

From what I've read it doesn't seem matter the cut? I eat a lot of instant flavored oatmeal (usually 2 packets a day), and my newest blood work put my total cholesterol at a 143. I don't know if it's the oatmeal or not, but I'm going to keep eating it just in case lol

Check the fiber -- usually more fiber is a factor in the benefits.

I accidentally bought a quick cook steel cut one time and it had as much fiber and almost as much protein, so I considered it just as good nutritionally. (I prefer regular, though, as I like the texture better and I like to make it in my rice cooker.)
