Spot reduce?

Hello All,
I've read several posts that say you can't spot reduce. The best thing is to lose weight and overall everything will get smaller. Unfortunately I've had experience with losing lots of weight and gaining it back. I do notice that mostly, yes, everything shrinks. However, one thing that stays is my underarm flab, or bat wings. I know they were most likely formed by losing w/o toning and gaining back.
While I'm currently losing by reducing intake and walking/hiking, I'm also doing 2-3 triceps exercises (with weights) to try to rid myself of these bat wings (or at least reduce their size).
However, since many say you can't spot reduce, is that in vain?
Thank for the input/suggestions.

I won't say that it is in vain, because all physical activity burns calories, which can either help with your calorie deficit or the activity itself can help with your fitness level. But if you define "in vain" as "pointless as far as spot reduction of fat or shrinking of loose skin around the upper arm area" then yes, it is in vain.0 -
I found that after losing the weight the areas of looser skin and flab went after about a year. I worked out, but nothing to target specific areas. Just keep doing what you're doing, maybe add in other strength exercises, to make it more interesting if nothing else, and be patient.0

Bat wings are in most cases just loose skin and not so much fat. So I would suggest you do exactly what you do and try to tighten them up with resistance training.0

The best thing for loose flabby areas that refuse to tighten up is weight training.0

Depends, if it's bat wings from fat, then continuing to lose weight will cure that. If it's just loose skin, then keep on with the weights.0
