How to remove MFP Blog from news feed
I am a Premium subscriber. Is there any way to remove the MFP Blog posts from my news feed? It’s easy to accidentally click one and get stuck on a video I can’t exit from, and the posts also stack up so that I have to scroll forever to see my actual friends’ posts. Thank you in advance!

Question for those who went from overweight/obese to toned/muscular
If you are someone who was previously overweight/obese, and now you have achieved a toned/muscular physique: Did you lose to a certain weight and then maintain for a slow recomp? Or did you lose enough weight to get to a low % body fat, then bulk? Or did you do a combination of things? How long did it take you? And why did…

Losing weight with an autoimmune disease
Has anyone else gone through losing weight with diet/exercise while dealing with an autoimmune condition such as RA/MCTD/SLE/PA? What have your experiences been? I have been dealing with mild symptoms on and off for years and have had an increase joint swelling/pain and fatigue with calorie restricting and an uptick in…

Something major and unexpected
I started my weight loss journey this time around on Jan 1. The first six weeks or so were exceptionally difficult- my appetite was all over the place, I had a major autoimmune flare up, and I was struggling to keep up with work plus workouts plus side hobbies, eating right, and home obligations. It was a lot, and it took…

A small win
Tonight was a success, and I just had to share. I usually struggle really hard with sticking to my plans when it comes to social gatherings. Tonight we had friends over for Japanese takeout and bonfire. I ordered hibachi chicken/shrimp/veggies, counted the calories beforehand, and kept true to my dry January even though…

What is your resting heart rate?
What is your average resting heart rate? How often do you exercise, and what types do you do? Has your resting heart rate changed over time? I have always been in the low 60s, but the last couple years with increased exercise I'm averaging 53-54 BPM. Sometimes I get as low as 48-49. I started with marathon training a few…

Preserving muscle and staying sane during a cut
This week I started a cut. (Technically I started last week, but didn't continue... so try, try again!) My maintenance is just above 1900 kcal/day plus additional for exercise as measured by an Apple Watch. (I verified this by compiling a year's worth of log data.) In 2018-2019 I lost ~20 lbs with mainly cardio and diet. I…

How to train calf muscles for hiking?
Background- I'm 34 and in relatively good shape. I work out 5-6 days a week including strength training, functional exercises, and various cardio like spinning, elliptical, speed walking, and some running. I recently went on a 3-day, ~25 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. I've done day hikes before, but this…

What is your favorite smoothie recipe?
I am on a kick of using the cake batter flavored Gold Standard Whey Protein in all my smoothies. It makes everything taste like dessert. Since it's fall, here are my two favorites: Pumpkin Pie Protein Smoothie 1/2 cup canned pumpkin (4 cubes when frozen in a tray) 1 frozen banana 1 scoop cake batter GSWP 6 oz unsweetened…

Lifting causes migraines- anyone else?
I'm 34 and have gotten migraines my entire life. I see a neurologist regularly and am on preventative meds which help tremendously. I've tried just about everything over the years to get rid of them. My problem is that one of my major triggers is weight lifting/strength training. I am no longer getting them instantaneously…

How do you deal with hunger?
I struggle with extreme hunger, especially when calorie restricting. I'm 33 y/o 5'5" ~174 lbs, I've had my RMR tested (resulted in 1467 kcal/day), and I'm watching my weight loss carefully to ensure I'm not losing too fast. Except for the last couple days in which I was celebrating Thanksgiving with the family, I generally…

Marathoners who log calories
When you're doing your taper before the race, do you eat at maintenance or more/less? How does your calorie intake affect your performance? I have been very slowly losing weight (6-ish pounds) over the last ~2-3 months of training, and this coming Saturday will be my last long run before a 3-week taper. I'm trying to…

Best Autumn Recipes
What are your favorite fall recipes? I discovered this stuffed acorn squash a few years ago and make it every time they’re in season. I have to increase most of the ingredients because the squash I get are large and require more stuffing. https://www.chowhound.com/recipes/roasted-acorn-squash-with-wild-rice-stuffing-13566…

WDW Marathon January 2018
Is anyone here doing the Disney Marathon in Orlando on January 7th? This is my first marathon, I'm following a modified Jeff Galloway program, and I only have three long runs left before the race. I'd love to connect with fellow runners who will be there. So exciting!!!

Looking for running friends (and weight lifters)
Hey there! I'm a seasoned MFP member who is currently training for my first marathon (Disney, January 7th, getting close!!) and simultaneously losing a couple extra pounds. Right now I'm going slow with the calorie restriction so I can still train adequately, and I'll probably go more hardcore after the race is over. I'm…

Runner's Trots... how to prevent?
Ugh... I hate having to ask about this, but it's pretty important to me to not sh** myself or lose 20 minutes in the porta potty during the marathon in January. I've just discovered that I'm susceptible to runner's trots. Anyone had this problem? How did you train your gut to keep it together? I started having this issue…

Weight loss and marathon training
About 2 1/2 weeks ago I started training for my first marathon (Disneyworld in January, so excited, eeeeeeek!!!!!) and I'm trying to balance marathon training with minor weight loss. I'm 5'6"/~162 lbs and am aiming to be ~150 lbs by race time, or at least right before the 3-4 week taper. The weight loss is mostly for…
