Here I go again.
After great success 6 years ago I’m almost back where I started but my head is in the right place to get back on track. I’m already a lot more active than I was when I started this journey the last time so that’s positive. Over this last year I’ve worked hard to put things in place that support my general well being and…

When the going gets tough remember how far you’ve come!
I started this journey in Aug 2015 but this year hit a wall while coping with lots of not so great things happening in my life but yesterday I walked the same walk that I did at the start of my journey and I realised just how much fitter I am now than I was then.....50lb lighter, a resting heart beat significantly lower,…

Taking the first steps again!
After losing 80lb I have spent the last stress filled year and a half steadily putting nearly 30lb back on. With a full time teaching job, a love of walking and arthritis in both knees I can’t afford that additional weight. I never stopped going to the gym and walking but it is much more of an effort and I want to regain…

I did it!!
I just finished walking the St. Cuthbert's Way-62 miles from Melrose in Scotland to Lindisfarne in Northumberland. This time last year I was 86lb heavier and too unfit to manage much activity, with high blood pressure and arthritic knees. I now have healthy blood pressure and am much fitter and over the last week I have…

Arthritis and activity advice please.
I have been steadily losing weight (85lbs so far) and becoming more active since last summer. It is all going well except I had already done damage to my knees and have arthritis (OA) in both but worse in one. I love walking but suffer pain in my knees all the time. In 3 weeks I am doing a long distance walk (62miles over…

73 lb down, made it to Onederland!!
When I started this journey in August 2015 at 272lb this day seemed an impossibility. At 51 I found myself with debilitating pain in an arthritic knee, not able to do the things that make life worth living, out of breath and avoiding the stairs! My husband had died of cancer at the age of 48 four years earlier. Life pretty…

Getting Stuck
I have been following the numbers (calorie allowance) from MFP very successfully since August 2015. I was 292 lbs when I started and I've lost 70lb. I set myself as slightly active as I generally walked 6000+ steps a day and I aimed to lose 2lb a week when I started out. I ate back about half my exercise calories. I…

How many pounds loss per week to set?
Hi, I started at 276lb last summer and set MFP for 2lb a week loss. At first I lost 3lb a week then settled into 2lb a week. I'm about to hit the 200lb mark and if I stick religiously to the plan I can still lose 2lb in a week but it feels like it's getting more difficult. Can I ask what you have done when you are part way…

On holiday in USA-not giving exercise credit
I'm on holiday from the UK in NJ. MFP is syncing my steps from my Fitbit Charge HR but not giving me extra calories for exercising. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

MFP progress setting
I'm finding that sometimes when I log my weight I can enter the exact weight in pounds such as 200.4 and other times it only allows me to log an whole pound such as 200 pounds. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do about that? It's frustrating because some weeks I can't log a loss when I have losses. I know in the…

Half Way There
I started this journey in August 2015 when knee pain left me unable to do the things I enjoy. With 100lb to lose I bought a Fitbit and registered with MFP, started to walk more, eat more moderately, joined a gym. This week I reached the half way point with 51lbs lost but more importantly much less knee pain, much more…

Can anyone explain the science to me?
I started my weight loss in August, needing to lose over 100lbs (SW 272lb, 5'6"). I was only lightly active at that time. I expected my weight loss to be fast at first and then to settle at about 1-2lb a week. As time went on I added a couple of 90 minute walks into my week and ate back about a third of the calories I…

Here I am!
I very briefly introduced myself when I first started using MFP at the end of August but I thought it might be time to share a bit more about myself. I have always struggled with my weight and have lost and regained more lbs than I wish to remember but this stage of my life began with the death of my husband at the age of…

Indian Takeaway advice please!!!
My son's birthday is this weekend and we are having an Indian takeaway-his choice. As there is only the 2 of us at home I want to join in his birthday whole heartedly but also not go over my calorie allowance. I can fit some exercise into the day to earn extra calories but does anyone have advice about what to eat? I…

Eating all added exercise calories????
I need some advice about whether I should eat my additional calories when I exercise. Is there a negative side to not eating them? Sometimes I wonder if I'm eating too few calories when I've been given a load extra. I'm new to MFP and Fitbit-does anyone have any advice or experience with this. Thanks, Ruth

Hi, my name is Ruth and I'm new to MFP. I have 100lbs to lose so in for the long haul. I'm enjoying using the app so far. Let's hope I can stick with it.
