The last 20
I'm on a quest to lose the last 20 lbs. I'm at a healthy weight BMI-wise that I've been maintaining for a good 2+ years. But vanity of vanities, I want to see what I look and feel like slimmer than I've ever been in my adult life. For those of you who've attained the holy grail of "goal weight" , what did losing the last…

Anybody on here doing "Optavia"?
Just heard about this through some IG people who are losing massive amounts of weight. Heard about it? What do you think? Anyone on here on it?

Reverse thread: "Wow, that had how many calories??"
This is a link to the original thread where you can write how shocked you were about how many calories were in something: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10637138/wow-that-had-how-many-calories/p1 But how about the reverse? What foods/meals have tasted so good that you were surprised at how low calorie they…

"No calorie-counting needed, just "eat intuitively" folks!"
Disclaimer: I love Fitness Blender for their free workout videos. I've been doing them for over two years and still going strong. Their fun, fast strength training workouts have been a huge help in reshaping my body as I get leaner. However.... The anti-calorie-counting is strong with them. In their latest article…

Self-sabotage?
Hey guys, This month I've been working very hard to try and start losing the last 10lbs once and for all after a 50lb loss in 2015-2016 and a 1.5 year maintenance period. I logged everything minutely except for the oxygen I breathe lol And I had three perfect weeks. I even included a refeed day in there, which didn't…

Why are slim people slim?
Just saw this ~40 min vid on youtube that asks and answers that question following two slim individuals with hidden cameras for a week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GoRh5-gCCrc I found it super interesting! Especially because neither of them are what I would consider really into fitness or nutrition. They both have what…

Tried and true granulated Splenda recipes?
Someone gave me a big bag of granulated Splenda that I don't know what to do with having never used it before. Do you have any (hopefully low cal) Splenda baking/dessert recipes that you really like? Share only if you've actually made them and they came out well!

Calories in this burger
Help me calculate how many calories are in this burger. FYI, the restaurant doesn't have any nutritional informational available so this isn't really a competition to see who gets closer to the "real" answer, but just an estimate. So far I'm just guessing around 1,100 cals? From the menu: The Italian Job Burger Beef Patty,…

Devil wears prada double-take
I watched "The Devil wears Prada" when it came out in 2006. In the opening montage, we see model-esque women getting ready for the day on one hand, and Anne Hathaway's character on the other. There's a few shots toward the end that are about food. The model-esque person is measuring out their cereal: When I saw the movie…

Tell me about your last binge....
When was it? How long did it last? What triggered it? What stopped it? What are your thoughts about it?

Less -not more- energy due to weight loss?
Hey y'all, I've been really struggling with fatigue lately. I spent two days this week in bed all day sleeping (and slept through the night too) and have needed extra naps during the other days as well. This has been ongoing for a few months but it's gotten worse. I don't have the flu, am not pregnant and don't have an…

Fatorexia: Is it a thing?
So I just came across the term in a blog post and had never heard of it before. A google search brought this up: dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1267883/Fatorexia-In-mirror-Sara-saw-slim-woman-Just-problem-17st-So-deluded.html In a nutshell, she describes it as "Though still fat, you think you are slim and exhibit all the…

Total calories? Net calories? Agh!! So confused! Can someone help?
Explain to me like I'm 5: what does "net calories" here mean?

A rant
So far I've lost around 50lb so far, but in the last 2 weeks my husband and I have been traveling a lot. A long string of indulgences during that trip has led to gaining 4lbs back. I've been beating myself up over it, but I'm determined not to let it completely derail me, so today I got back at it: worked out, weighed my…

"You can lose weight without working out". YES. But...
I 100% agree that being in a calorie deficit is all it takes to lose weight. But when I read on the boards people telling others who are struggling to make time to work out "You don't need exercise to lose weight" I cringe a little....mostly because in my own case it all started with exercise. I started swimming, and…

Keeping secrets from my body
As in, I would love to be able to do that. For example this morning I had a great workout, but then I was hungrier than normal all day because of it. It was a real struggle to eat my allotted calories and nothing else. If only my body didn't know about my workout, then I wouldn't be so hungry! Anyone else thought this…

How to log marinated meat?
I'm unsure about how to log the calories for, say, a chicken breast that's been marinated in oil, soy sauce, spices etc. If I marinate the chicken, then grill it and discard the rest of the juices, I haven't actually consumed all the calories in my marinade ingredients. But if I don't log them, then I'll be underestimating…

Chasm between "official" MFP site and community?
I've noticed quite a gap between what the "official" MFP blogs say and what the community here says. The most obvious example is this recent article on the blog about plateaus: http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/what-causes-a-weight-loss-plateau/ When this question is asked here in the community (and it gets asked a lot) the…
