Normal to get sick hours after a long race?
So, I ran my first ever half-marathon yesterday. It was awesome and I actually ran much faster than I expected. Immediately after the race, I felt fantastic. No puking or anything crazy. So I go home, take a shower and a take 2 hour nap... And I wake up feeling like garbage and have ever since (last 24+ hours). Headache,…

Sick for days
Ok so I went on vacation last Tuesday to NYC...I did ALOT of walking (10-11 miles a day) and ran short runs (3-4 miles) 2 days I was there. Friday (last day of vacay) I got sick with a wicked stomach virus and I am now on day 4 of this wretched virus. I can eat now and not in much pain but still nothing stays in my body.…

Potassium and Calcium
I am able to meet pretty much all of my positive nutrition goals every day except for calcium and potassium. I only get about half of what I should daily (or less). I eat some cheese but I don't love milk all that much and I eat bananas but only eat potatoes only occasionally. Anybody have any healthy suggestions? TIA

What a difference a running store makes...
So I am training for my first half-marathon and I finally decided that I needed to get a diagnostic at a specialty running store on what type of feet I have, etc as most of the running shoes I have ever picked out were based strictly on "cuteness" (I know, I know...what a rookie, right?!). It's amazing what I learned about…

Deaths after half-marathons and full
Sure they are few and far between, but they are almost always due to the strain/over-exertion of running, even if it's due to a pre-existing condition that the runner didn't know about. Do you ever get worried? I am now training for my first half-marathon and have seen a few news stories about deaths in recent years just…

How do you deal with a significant other that...
Eats like a 4 year old?? Actually, I think my 4 year old eats better than him! I eat pretty healthy, but he is the total opposite and is such a child when I try to make delicious healthy meals. He loves my cooking but any vegetable that isn't broccoli is greeted with a yuck face and he will even pick veggies out. It's so…

Lettuce wraps

Late night snacking
I usually don't eat late night snacks, because it typically spirals into something I feel is out of control...But occasionally I feel I truly need something. For example, I ran 5 miles late this afternoon and had a small dinner after but by bedtime, food was all I could think about. So, I ate one serving of raisins and was…

How often is it ok to eat fish?
So, I REALLY love to put tuna or salmon on salads as a meal. It's an easy lunch to pack and is packed with nutrients as well as fills me up. But how many times a week is it safe to be eating tuna or other seafood? I've heard you should not be eating it every day or even more than 2x a week. Myth or fact?
