Squats - barbell/smith machine
Would there be any difference in the two in terms of progress and effectiveness? I feel like I have a better range of motion with the smith machine and with the barbell I'm sort of all over the place. Well, they don't look as clean as my squats with the smith. Especially when it's time to go heavy.

Focus on the scale vs. don't focus on the scale - which one is it?
I'll start by saying that taking weekly/monthly measurements doesn't work for me because I don't trust it (myself). I always feel like when I'm 'losing' inches what is really happening is that maybe I'm simply squeezing more than I did before. I take weekly pictures and compare them month to month but honestly I've never…

Loving the number on the scale but hating my physique
Hey y'all! Need input. On the right I was 153 lbs and on the left I'm 144-145 lbs. I'm 5ft 7 in tall. Honestly, I'm tired of cutting. Not even because of food but because I'm disappointed in the amount of muscle I have. I really thought I had more... my goal weight was 135 lbs but now I'm wondering if I should start…

Anyone here reach their fitness goals through body exercises?
After 4 years of lifting it's time for a change. But I don't want to change so much that I need to change my goals which is to lose fat to uncover the muscle I've gained the past years. I'm asking this after months of hating the gym and feeling no satisfaction from lifting. I feel like my next step is giving up.. which I…

How should I squat?
I have bad knees. I always have had bad knees. When I was younger, if I sat down in a movie theater too long my knees started to hurt (this still happens). It's gotten worse since I started lifting and doing squats. A man in the gym I guessed watched me when I was doing BB squats and noticed how I had to put on those knee…

Losing weight or muscle??
Okay y'all I need some input: if I haven't worked out (i strength train/lift heavy) in about a week should I consider this last weeks weight loss as muscle loss? How fast does one lose muscle when they stop training (still eating at deficit and hitting macros)? I ask because I don't know if I should track this or wait…

Hitting protein and calorie goals only, do you still see results?
I eat at a deficit every day regardless of working out or not. 1953 calories! I'm supposed to lose .5 pounds a week but I only have about 10 more pounds to lose. Can I still get to my goals if I don't really focus on fats/carbs?

Anyone else caffeine free?
I hate coffee (have tried all different types, I feel like), very much dislike soda and it burns my throat, and most recently I stopped taking pre work out since I work out late at nights and it keeps me from falling asleep. I feel like when I tell people I don't drink any caffeine they don't believe me. Just want to see…

Are there any exercises where it's not a good idea to go heavy on?
For example, leg extensions. I've been adding 5-10 pounds each week on all exercises I've been doing and on leg extensions I can do 8-10 reps with 60 but can only do 2 good reps with 70 and rest are done in horrible form (using my back more than anything). Probably a dumb question but I want to make sure I'm not killing…

Experienced thoughts/input needed
I've done all the diets in the world, I feel like, and the one that's been proven to work is counting cals/macros. So after wasting a lot of time on doing what did not work, I want to make sure I start on the right path. Goals: lose body fat. Currently at 25% is my guess. Don't have tools at the moment to know exactly. I…

Workout routine ... Probably a really common question
I'm almost done with the Jamie Eason 12 week program and its time to start looking for a new one. Any recommendations for a girl who loves to lift??

2 months and I can't understand why I am gaining
It can't all be muscle. I have been lifting (Jamie Eason 12 week program) and being consistent with my diet for about two months now. I'm cutting, so I always eat less than maintenance. I started at 148 and now I'm at 151. I just don't get it. How can I be gaining weight?? I see a little difference in pics and feel better…

How long did it take
I've been on this journey for about 2 years and I've finally found a diet (or whatever you want to call it) that I can truly stick to for life. It's crazy to think how much trial and error I had to go through to get to this point. First was the 1200 + cardio diet, then IIFYM, then clean eating, and then intuitive eating.…

"You can't out-exercise a bad diet."
But technically you can right? Because of CICO?

Help me with my this one please
Cals for maintenance is 2040 Try to eat around 1600 cals daily (allowing two days to eat at maintenance - mainly on the weekend) I workout 5-6x a week. Do I eat at a maintenance on workout days then subtract calories burned? Or do I eat up to 1600 on workout days and not count calories burned?

Afraid to start counting again
I tried intuitive eating for about 2 months and have gained some weight. Its not too bad.. But I know if I don't stop this now then it can get ugly. The thing is.. I was pretty happy with not counting calories/macros. I would like to ask the pro's how they've kept from seeing food as numbers. Its the thing that made me…
