the good and bad
Kinda down that i have not completed my C25k training. i have only 4 runs to go, but i have been making excuses not to run lately. I Must finish this! I dont want to be a quitter. On a positive note, I have just 3 pounds to go to hit 170 lbs. I will turn 49 this year and have not been at this weight since the 1980s. In…

On the backstretch C25K
Finished day 1 of week 7 today; 25 minutes running without walking. It was a beautiful winter day in Texas, a scattering of gentle wispy clouds against a stunning blue sky. 61F with the gentle refreshing breeze. I let my mind wander, listened to some tunes and kept those legs moving. I did not worry at all about my speed…

48 and feeling great
1 more run and I will be in my final week of C25k. I had a strong run today; further and stronger than ever. My right knee felt a little tweeky after about 1.5 miles, but i slowed my pace and tried to be deliberate about how i landed on my right leg. I never really had a great deal of weight to lose when I started this…

C25k week 6 is done.
It was nice weather to finish week 6. 58 F, but had a 24 mph wind out of the north. When I started my 22 minute run with no walking today, I was thinking i would not get it done. it was a stressful day, and i was not in a good mood. I kept working and by the end, I was feeling pretty strong. i have not gotten a 5k in yet,…

running and acid reflux
For those of us that have acid reflux, has running helped, hurt or had no change for you? Thanks. I finished week four of C25K this morning. Beautifuly sunny, high 40's to low 50F. I felt strong.

week 4 C25K
After receiving the advice from multiple people (including my wife of 27 years who has lost over 75 lbs and run multiple 5ks), to slow down and to not worry about the "times" of my mile splits, I did just that this week. I relaxed and did my runs. I had almost 7 miles of walking before I started my run today. Weather was…

C25k week 3
Week 3 is in the books! Feeling pretty damn good. Best mile time yet: 12:09. trying to work smart. When you are a beginner like I am, how do you determine what pace is right for one to jog? Thanks

week 3 C25K
Day 2 week 3 completed. Beautiful weather today! I felt good, but seem to think i hit the ground like an elephant trying to sprint. had around 15000 steps throughout the day before my run. I expect to have 10 miles total steps before the end of the day. Looking forward to seeing my son at his college homecoming this…

day 1 week 3 C25K
How is everyone today? Completed day 1 of week 3. It was a beautiful Fall afternoon in Texas today, 59F and partly cloudy. Still not setting any speed records, but feeling strong. my 2nd mile split was 13:32, i have a long way to go, but that split was quicker than my splits on a regular flat track that I ran on Sunday. I…

C25k week 2 in the books
Completed week 2 this morning before the heat sets in. We will hit over 90F today, and i am just not hardcore enough to deal with that heat yet. It was a pretty good week running wise; I set no records, but I did not quit. on a non exercise matter, i have a gas leak under my house that needs to be repaired that i am sure…

day 2 week 2 c25k.
Felt a bit ill yesterday and it was over 92 F, so i did not run. It was a beautiful 62 F today, so even though i did not eat enough yesterday and was feeling a little empty, I knew i should get a run in. i got about 2.25 miles in today. my times were slower than in the past, but I am ok with that. I was never a sprinter in…

week 2 day 1 c25k
finished my run today for day 1 week 2. Weather was raining earlier, but stopped before my run. It was nice, about 49 F. felt good, but realized close to the end that i must have paused my fitbit run tracker. Only a half mile logged, so I dont know what my mile splits were or anything. it kinda ruined my attitude. i will…

C25k first week.
Finished my first week of couch to 5k. Thursday's run was 90 degrees F; this morning it was 39F. Oh that crazy Texas weather. I felt good this week, but i have to admit finishing a 5k seems way far away.

2nd run day.
It was the 2nd day of couch to 5k. In my head, I had already talked myself out of running. I mean, it was almost 90 in my part of Texas. But I did it, and it felt rough today. I was a pretty decent athlete in my teens, but when my legs strike the ground during a stride, it does not feel the same. what happened to my…
