At Wits End
well, my diet experiment with 5:2, 16:8, and OMAD all failed miserably. Trying to fast and only eat within a certain window of time, and trying to fast in general has resulted in a 12 lb gain in the last month. *sigh* Honestly? I'm at wits end. I honestly do not know what to do. Everything I've tried, and that's been…

Something that Made You Feel Good Today
I figured as much as I whine here about my grumbles, I should also talk about the things that are good, too, when I get them. This is for things that might not have any relation to your weight efforts, may not be an NSV, may be something small, but something that boosted your mood even for a little bit today - in this…

Progress Report
A previous group had a thread like this, and I thought I'd start one here, too. We've been doing updates in various threads, but this will give us a centralized place to keep track, and would be less likely to be lost if we all had individual threads! I know those participating in the challenge are putting their updates in…

Diet/Deficit Breaks
I distinctly remember distilling this down before somewhere, but can't find the post. So I'll make its own thread this time! the main sticky thread on diet breaks can be found here: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10604863/of-refeeds-and-diet-breaks/p1 There has been a LOT of response to the thread, but…

Food, Exercise, or other Reports
I realized I had co-opted the 10,000 step thread as a personal reporting for my exercise efforts and thought that might not be a good thing to be doing, so I started a new thread instead. I figure to use this to talk about anything I've been successful at today, whether it be exercise improvements or woes, calorie counting…

weighing frozen vegetables
Usually for frozen vegetables I just put down whatever the package said the serving size as I'm usually eating the whole bag and its not a high calorie count anyway. This has worked fine for me up till now, and since I still have a lot to lose, will probably be fine for a while yet, but I also am aware that as I get down…

banking macros?
Probably a stupid question, but can you maybe bank protein or fat from one day to the next, considering how long it takes for digestion to take place? I know you can bank calories for an entire week, and I know you couldn't do it with the macros for that long, but was wondering if maybe they could be considered day to day?…

Question on Homemade Greek Yogurt
I've heard this is easy to make, and found a recipe to try, but when I build it into MFP, I see the protein count which is around 5g and it makes me wonder how does commercial yogurt get 12g? Also: how much would I actually get from this recipe: 2 cups low fat milk (1%) 1/4 cup plain yogurt

Some Recipes for 1 or 2
I'm single and cook for myself most days, and I'm not the sort that can eat the same thing several days in a row, so to keep from having my freezer filled with leftovers, I work to par down recipes to a single or at most 3 or 4 servings. here are the results of some of my efforts! 2 Buttermilk Biscuits 1/4 cup all purpose…

What is your life's theme song?
Is there a particular song that seems to fit your personality or circumstances extremely well, or perhaps embodies the goals you have for yourself? Lately, mine has been "Misfits" from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer lol https://christmas-specials.fandom.com/wiki/We're_a_Couple_of_Misfits

Recipes
I dug back through the group postings and only found one thread started for recipes, but it was pretty specific in what it wanted, so I decided to post a few of my experients from this week, as I try to make some lower sugar, less calorie dense sweets to satisfy my holiday sweet tooth (and year round, for that matter lol)…

Diet Breaks
This article on the portal front page is rather timely for me: http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/taking-break-from-diet-lose-more-weight/ It goes along with another thread that I've been following a few months: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10604863/of-refeeds-and-diet-breaks/p1 The refeed thread is very, very…

What is CICO
@Dad4Myla asked this in another thread, and I wanted to respond in length but didn't want to hijack that thread, so I decided to answer in a new one :) CICO is NOT a diet, though you'll hear that it is from all sorts of people, including dieticians. It often gets confused with calorie counting, which IS a diet style, but…

Ideas on exercise?
I have no willpower - its a fact of my life that manages to circumvent pretty much anything I need to do in my life. And right now, I'm hitting the point where I need to start exercising to continue losing weight, or I"m going to stall out. But I HATE exercising. I hate treadmills, exercise bikes, stretching - the whole…

Favorite Then and Now
I've found an old series from the late 80's on DVD that I had loved as a child, and have been bing-watching them this week. I've fallen in love with the show all over again, finding the magic again with fresh eyes, but have been surprised to find that my perceptions are different as an adult than they were as a child. It…

Plateaus and Slow Downs
well, its official - I've definitely hit a plateau. My weight loss has painfully ground to a halt, and my measurements were all the same as last month. Its frustrating because I'm still 8 lbs away from my first major goal! I'm already eating at the absolute minimum recommended calorie limit for my height and weight, and…

How do you deal with Toxic People?
When I say toxic people, I'm not just talking about the kind that tear down everyone around them through criticism or even the kind that wear people down by their own stinking attitude. So I'm not just talking about the trolls who fat-shame on social media. I'm talking about those who are well-meaning in their own way, but…

Totally non-diet question
I recently was able to get a position within my company that would allow me to move back to my hometown, and was down at my parents' home this weekend, looking into my options for housing. My budget, however, is proving to be a severe hinderance in the process, especially as I'm single with only 1 income. One option I have…

A mini success but I'll take it!
I started the calorie counting in the middle of january, and took my body measurements then. I took them today for the 1st time since that point, and I've lost an inch off my waist and hips! Yeah! And I just realized I've made it past my 5% of my starting weight mark. Considering that I'm morbidly obese, just having these…

Dieting questions
My new year's resolution was to start watching my sugar intake and cutting out refined sugars. I had already dropped soda a couple of years ago during my last dieting phase, but I had been slipping on it, sweetened tea, etc. I didn't realize just how much sugar I was eating a day! I wanted to start watching it because my…
