Saturated Fat effects on healthy 21 year old
Hi - i'm 21 - and a healthy weight and lightly active. I have always eaten a diet fairly low in saturated fat, no real reason just a result of what I liked to eat. Recently I have enjoyed cooking with cheese, pestos, cream etc... and making Pasta dishes incorporating them. I am just a little curious about if this change in…

Does a chicken kebab (thigh meat in pitta bread) contain much saturated fat?
My dad needs to keep his saturated fat down for health reasons and doctors orders. Every Friday we have a Chicken Kebab (Thigh meat carved off a rotisserie or spit type thing) in a very thin pitta bread and loaded with salad, a little mayonnaise from our local fish and chip shop. No chips. I have never known the nutrition…

30-40g saturated fat a day - good or bad?
A relative of mine consumes one vanilla slice a day which has 15g itself and lots of cheese, lamb and on average has about 35g of saturated fat a day. Generally though the diet is very high in fibre and omega 3 too from salmon which is consumed allot. I know saturated fat is not bad as once thought but is 40g too much?

Just curious to find out if levels of bad cholesterol rise quickly after a meal or if its over a longer period of time like a few weeks. Health associations talk about a 'diet high in' certain bad foods that should be avoided or consumed in limited amounts. To me the term diet means over a period of time. I eat fairly lean…

Is a chicken kebab a wise choice from a Fish and Chip shop.
I don't know if in the US you have Chicken Kebabs or similar but in the UK when I go into a Fish and Chip shop - I choose a Chicken Meat in Pitta Bread with Salad and normally leave out the sauce. Is this a wise choice in terms of general nutrition when ordering?

Can you overload with protein or is…

Is palm oil best avoided?
Hi there! If you buy for example the cheapest frozen roast potatoes - generally they come lathered in palm oil and are noticeably higher in Saturated Fat than others that would cost a little more and coated with sunflower oil. Are plain wheat flour products OK if paired with something containing fats.
Sorry if this sounds a silly question? But I have read that pairing products made from plain wheat flour with something that has a decent fat content (like Salmon, Avacado, Cheese, Hummus) reduces the Glycemic Index? So if I am right apart from many of the nutrients that are removed in white flour compared to wholemeal -…
