Is 5/6 grams of salt a day too much?

Hi all,

Just a quick question, should salt be cut well below the reference intake of 6g in the UK or is that a safe amount daily?

    That's about 2400 mg of sodium. So roughly the same rec as in the US. Without some medical issues that would require low sodium I see no reason you'd need to go lower. (How important it is to stay that low, even, is debated.)

    British heart foundation say 6g salt max for 'normal' adult less if hypertension/heart risk
