Is soup with a high sugar content bad for you?

Hi,
There are lots of soups to choose from but some like a carrot and coriander have small amounts of sugar say less than 6/7 grams per 350 / 400 gram serving. Some have 20-30 grams per serving such as tomato soup in my local supermarket.
Is it best to avoid these soups with lots of sugar? I understand however some of the sugar would be from the vegetables used.

If you are prediabetic/diabetic then you should be cognizant of your sugar intake. If you aren't either of those then sugar is not bad. Also look for "added sugar" and not just carbs alone. If a soup has 20-30g added sugar I would probably look for an alternative.2

Unless sugar (or something like corn syrup) is listed in the ingredients, ALL the sugar is from the vegetables (tomatoes have a good amount of sugar, hence more in tomato soup).
But no, sugar is not bad for you and soups with it won't hurt you (or hinder weight loss if you're maintaining a calorie deficit).0 -
Do you like it?
Does it fit into your personal calorie and nutrition goals for the day?
Do you feel okay eating it?
Those are the three questions I ask myself to evaluate foods. A single food is generally neutral food: neither good nor bad until you know how it fits into your day. If it fits your goals, you like it, and you don't have any negative effects from eating it, then it sounds like a fine choice. If you don't like it or it doesn't fit your goals or you feel crummy after eating it, then maybe consider something else instead.
You don't need to overthink this stuff.0
