Questions about gear
Hi, I'm a novice and have only been going out on trails for a year, but very sporadically. Pretty short stuff, usually ~4 miles. Longest was 6.8 miles today, but nothing w/ any significant elevation in my opinion. I want to get out a lot more b/c I really like it. Can anyone give recommendations on basic gear to buy? Like…

Shoe recommendations
Anyone have a recommendation for a waterproof shoe or boot? Or a brand they like? I have a pair of lightweight UA boots I got on close out, but they aren't waterproof and I am ready for something better. Perhaps something I can run in a bit on the trials (I'm working my way up to this).

What are you proud of?
Yes, I'm proud of my weight loss, I'm proud of my kids, but those are somewhat constant. I get most proud of something that is surprising and unexpected. The last 2 days I caught 2 huge mistakes at work, even though it wasn't really my job to do so. And it is making/will make a very important impact. So I feel pretty…

Eating all of it (Halo Top)
I'm wondering if anyone binges uncontrollably and finishes a pint of Halo Top in one sitting? Asking for a friend.

Egg white bites/"muffins"
I bought egg whites at Costco and now have a shitload of it. Does anyone have a recipe for making egg white bites or "muffins" in the oven? I'd love to copy Starbucks sous vide ones but I am not going to cook that way and will basically use my oven.

Questions about weighing in "stone"
This is a totally innocent and honest question. I live in the US and am not familiar w/ "stone" as a measure of weight. It seems that many MFP users from Great Britain, Ireland and Australia (I think?) use this measurement. Just wondering if it is used for other things or only for human body weight? Would you use it to…

Things are weird and harder now
I am wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me. I wanted to lose 100 lbs and got about halfway to goal, reached Onederland, felt good. Changed MFP settings and calorie allowance went up from 1500/day to 1660/day. However, now, I find it harder to stay strict and keep to my calories and put on a little weight (6…

Sautéing with cooking sprays??
I don't really cook, but I want to start. I saw a recipe that calls for sautéing in 2 tablespoons/30 ml of butter or oil. Can a couple of squirts of a cooking spray (like PAM) be an effective substitute for the oil or butter, or does one really need the higher volume of oil/butter to sauté properly?

Feeling disgusting
Met a good friend today who is going through a rough time in his marriage and probable mid life crisis. Talked for 4 hours and had 3 beers, 1 glass of pinot grigio, plate of Brazilian grilled/sautéed shrimp and squid w/ garlic, potato, broccoli rabe, split a Cuban sandwich, and split a flan. Completely overate. Feel…

Reached Onederland!!!
SW 258 lbs CW 199.6 lbs (GW 160 lbs) My target for achieving Onederland was October 1, 2017 so I am here early. I am beyond happy, thrilled, and over the moon. I knew I could do this, but it is still a shock and doesn't feel real. This should definitely be a driving force to continue this journey....once my head stops…

Best coffee you ever had?
This morning I ground Jamaican Blue Mountain beans and made French press coffee. OMG. It's the best *kitten* coffee I have ever had. I am drinking it black b/c it actually tastes so good to me. Sofa king good. Now I definitely want to try other kinds of coffee beans. This could turn me into a complete coffee snob.....

Is it bad if losing weight faster?
I set my weight loss goal to 1.5 lbs/week but seem to be losing faster. Lost 25.6 lbs/3 months, 16.2/2 months, 9/1 month, and 3.8/last 1 week. I'm really not underrating my calories and I do not exercise. Is this faster weight loss rate a bad thing?

Cast Iron Skillets
I am interested in getting a cast iron skillet, but was wondering if there is any real benefit from spending a lot of money to buy one of the newer artisanal type skillets? The less expensive ones are made by Lodge or Staub. And the expensive ones made by Finex or Field claim to have a smoother surface and are better.…

How often to update diet profile?
Hi. During the course of losing weight, how often do people update their diet profile to have MFP calculate a new calorie goal based on the weight loss occurring? I think I have updated 2x in the last 4 months.

Chicago restaurant recommendations
Hi. So I'm in Chicago for a long weekend via Pack Up + Go. Had to get a snack and cocktails since missed lunch. Went to the Dearborn since my hotel is in the theater district. Any recommendations for a dinner place? I want good food something a little upscale but I can eat at the bar since the I'm by myself. Not just pub…

When to adjust weight loss goals per week?
Hi. I started out at 258 lbs (I am 5'8"), BMI 39.2, 6 lbs away from being morbidly obese. Target weight is 164 lbs and a healthy BMI. Current weight is 211 lbs, BMI 32.1. At a desired weight loss of 1.5 lbs per week, MFP has calculated my daily calorie goal to be 1500 based on my current weight. I've read here that it is…

measuring tape and body fat calipers
How I wish the message boards had a way to create a poll.... Anyway, how many of us use measuring tape and actually track our neck/waist/hips measurements? And how many of us use body fat calipers? How often do you take these measurements? Personally, I do not take progress pictures b/c I hate ow heavy I looked at the…
