I'm done with counting calories, Weight Watchers, etc - I'm going back to low carb
I know so many say weight loss is all about calories in/calories out, and that does make sense...but I have been trying to lose 15 lbs for around 10 years and I'm frustrated. I know that's not a lot of weight to lose, but I feel better at a certain weight (my healthy weight). I have counted calories on and off since I was…

MCT oil: healthy?
I have seen a lot of You Tube videos lately from people doing low carb or Keto, using MCT oil in their coffee. Apparently it is very filling (because of the fat), but when I checked it out on Amazon, it looks like there is 13g of saturated fat in a tablespoon (?) And a lot of people add butter to their coffee in addition…

Interested in low carb/NOT Keto
I did low carb last year, and I love how it reduced my appetite (and I did lose weight). What is considered low carb in terms of *net* carbs/day? My goal then was to not go over 100/day (net). Are there groups here for low carb people/not Keto...Keto seems to be the in thing right now, but there is no way I could restrict…

Those doing low carb: what do you typically eat in a day?
And how many carbs do you consume? If I stick to 100 (net) carbs, is that considered low carb?

Keto or low carb?
I realize they are the same thing, but Keto is obviously a lot stricter. I lost some weight on low carb last summer, but I am wondering what the real advantages are of doing Keto over just simply eating less carbs.

"safe" fats to consume on a LC/HF diet?
This kind of relates to my other post from this morning, but I would like to eat low carb for the reason being that I always feel fuller when I eat a meal with a good amount of fat in it. I strongly believe that losing weight is all about calories in/calories out, *but* for me personally, I believe that I may be able to…

5'6 females, 150-160 lbs.: how many calories each day?
I'm 5'6, 155 lbs...trying to get down to 140-145. I currently have my daily calories set to 1,550. I can lose on this, but I'm wondering if I can get away with eating more, lol...I don't mind losing slowly if it means I can eat more. :-D

STILL going back and forth on Weight Watchers vs counting calories
I feel a lot more freedom counting calories *but* find that I eat healthier on Weight Watchers. I eat a lot more fruits and veggies on WW and really watch my portion sizes. Calorie counting is great though because I can fit *anything* into my day....no worrying about if I have gone over my points (which seems easy to do,…

When you all talk about carbs consumed per day, are you talking net carbs or total carbs?
I was diagnosed with pre diabetes last summer. I started watching my carbs, keeping them under 200 a day (averaging 130-150 net), and was able to bring myself back into the normal range. When you are talking carbs and how many you eat per day, are you referring to net carbs or total carbs? Just curious.. 😊

10 years of Tamoxifen...now what?
I was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer in 2006. I just finished 10 years of Tamoxifen last month. My oncologist said that 10 years is the max for taking an estrogen blocker. I asked him what is to keep the cancer from returning now? He said diet, weight loss and exercise are very important for keeping my estrogen…

Intermittent fasting - I don't get it
Isn't it all about calories in/calories out? Why would it matter how long your body goes without eating, as long as you are eating at a deficit within that 24 hour period?

300-400-500 “plan”
I have been counting calories on and off since I was a teenager...and I’m tired. 🙄 Rather than tracking every single calorie on an app, I was thinking of just keeping each of my meals under a certain number (in my head as I prepare it). For instance, 300 for breakfast, 400 for lunch, 500 for dinner, 200 for an afternoon…

Anyone here weigh once a month or less?
I am thinking of weighing just once a month, as the scale is making me crazy. I have just 10 lbs to lose and I am willing to lose it slowly in order to not be hungry all the time. But seeing that slow loss on the scale is making me crazy... I become discouraged and blow it with my calories for a few days, undoing any…

Does anyone here mentally log their calories?
I have been learning about intuitive eating, but don't think I'm quite ready for it yet. I was trying to think of a way to "transition" from counting calories on an app (which I have been doing for what seems like forever), to eventually learning to eat intuitively (and no more counting anything). I thought it might be a…

Walking the dog for 30 minutes really burns 130 calories?
5'6, 155 lbs. 47 year old female. 130 cals burned from walking the dog at a moderate pace for 30 minutes? That seems like a lot. ??

Hard to focus on counting calories and nutrition at the same time
I have just 10-15 lbs. I want to lose, and I know that even a 5-10 lb. loss can make a difference in one's health. I don't eat Snickers bars all day, but I don't eat kale all day either. Right now, I am focusing on getting the extra weight off and eating things that I enjoy that fit within my daily calorie goals. So in…

Does the stomach really shrink with weight loss?
Is this true that the stomach shrinks when losing weight? If this is so, then I would think that hunger will lessen (?) (I sure hope)!

I tried Weight Watchers and just couldn’t stick with it. Anyone else?
I found it too restrictive. I know that it is supposedly the #1 weight loss diet in the country, but wow...how? A Luna bar is almost half of my daily points allowance. A piece of carrot cake? More than an entire day’s points plus half of my weekly points allowance. A trip to Dairy Queen? Forget it. How do people stick to…

How many carbs do you typically eat in a day?
I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes last summer, told to “watch the carbs” and have my A1C tested again in the spring. I did, and (thankfully), I am back in the normal range (numbers went from 5.8 down to 5.1). I lowered it by staying under 120 carbs a day. Well, now I’m afraid to go any higher although I see a lot of people…
