When you all talk about carbs consumed per day, are you talking net carbs or total carbs?

I was diagnosed with pre diabetes last summer. I started watching my carbs, keeping them under 200 a day (averaging 130-150 net), and was able to bring myself back into the normal range.

When you are talking carbs and how many you eat per day, are you referring to net carbs or total carbs? Just curious.. ๐Ÿ˜Š

If I talk about carbs it is total carbs because I have no medical or dietary reason to track net carbs.

I'm sure the answers will vary. When talking about myself, or about general macro splits, or pretty much to anyone who hasn't indicated a reason to be focused on net carbs (diabetes, keto), I'm referring to total carbs. I started using MFP to track my calories after getting a scary high pre-diabetic range blood sugar results, and after losing weight and becoming more active, my a1c came down to the healthy/normal range. I never restricted my carbs.

Same. It would never occur to me to figure out my net carbs. I usually eat @ 200g carbs per day. My fiber can vary pretty wildly.

You had 50g-70g fibre per day? Wow.... I used to eat too much fibre, and my digestion suffered for it, but it was never that high!

    I do total carbs.
