Anyone here weigh once a month or less?

I am thinking of weighing just once a month, as the scale is making me crazy. I have just 10 lbs to lose and I am willing to lose it slowly in order to not be hungry all the time. But seeing that slow loss on the scale is making me crazy... I become discouraged and blow it with my calories for a few days, undoing any progress I have made I’m sure.

Maybe this will help, pulling the scale out every 4 weeks instead...seeing a more significant loss might be the answer to staying motivated (?)

Me! Haven't weighed since I began my weight loss and strength building journey which was OFfICially April 28th. I am going to weigh in July. A scale is what made me give up last time. Not weighing now helps me! I have nothing bringing me down number wise and I can definitely tell I've lost weight. I guess this method doesn't work for everyone but for me it is key! After my July weigh in though, i will weigh once a month only. No more no less. I keep my scale in my car trunk:)

When I was going to a medically oriented gym, I was weighed once a quarter. I had to be weighed on a hospital bed because I am disabled and can't balance and stand still long enough to get a good accurate weight. Much more accurate if I'm laying on a bed.

Not me! I am more motivated to stay on track when I see the numbers on the scale go down.

I have been weighing once a month since April 16th for exactly this reason. I still anticipate with dread weigh in day (1st or last Friday of the month, depending on where it lands date-wise, first thing in the morning after the mandatory bathroom trip) but this way I weigh in before the weekend starts, which is when I eat some of my exercise calories anyway. So, I'm not undoing any progress if I eat a little more because I don't like the number on the scale. I was going to eat more anyway.

Once I hit my goal weight, I intend to weigh once a day and use a weight tracking app so I can make adjustments to CICO if necessary.

I weigh myself once every 3 months. I don’t own a scale, so I just weigh myself whenever I take my mother to the dr. It keeps me sane. I can feel when I’ve lost anyway.

I am on the other end of the spectrum. While I have lost a fair chunk I am still looking at least another 18 months if not 2 years to get into the ballpark of somewhere I might be happy. I have no interest in seeing a loss of a pound or two and being constantly reminded of how slow this process is. As a result I weigh when I have a NSV usually relating to clothing (6 weeks to 2 months). It is nice getting on the scale and seeing double digit losses.

The exception is that since I have just lost that fair chunk I have checked myself weekly for 3 weeks to determine if I need to make a calorie adjustment to increase or slow my progress. I have decided to slow it down by .5lb per week. While I have little to no interest in what the scale says I don't want to lose too fast and the scale is the best way to judge.

Yep I’m with you; I’m only going to weight once a month/ couple of months as my weight loss goal is very similar and I’m lifting so I feel my progress is very hard to see but potentially very easy to sabotage if I’m feeling unmotivated by the scale

    I meant since March 16th.

I weigh in monthly at my doctor’s office. I have to go monthly for a non related issue.

I had to get rid of my scale. I was getting WAY too obsessive with it. Monthly weigh ins have been much better for me.

Monthly weigh ins may not be ideal for newbies who are still trying to figure out counting calories. If you’re way off in your logging, a month or two would be a while to go without making necessary adjustments.

I used to weigh weekly, and got so nervous doing it. If I lost I would be happy, if I stayed the same I would be content but not happy, and if I gained I would be upset. This didn't deter me and kept weighing weekly as it kept me on track. Usually if I stayed the same or went up I was able to determine the cause and make sure that didn't happen again.

I reached my weight loss goal a while back. I don't weigh as often, about once a month or less to see if there is any changes and for the most part it is constant give or take a pound. Now my goals have changed and "bulking" trying to put on some lean mass of the next few months. I weigh ever time I get home from work, which is every 2 weeks now. I want to know if I am going up and by how much. Allowing me to make modifications to keep control of the gain.

Exactly. You could waste a lot of time not checking up on your logging accuracy.

I started off weighing everyday for a couple of years. I then went to a few days a week, to once a week. Now, 4 years later I weigh myself when i think of it, maybe 3-4 times a month.

It could also prevent over correction for those that lose a quick few pounds of water weight then think they have stalled the second 2 weeks of their first month or for a woman who thinks they have gained because of TOM.

I don't think you are wrong but I am not sure there is a clear advantage either way. Some people will weigh too much, get discouraged and quit, while others will not weigh enough, waste time then get discouraged and quit.

I thought the topic question was: "Anyone here weigh once a month or less?"

That is what I thought the responses would be about.
